- This episode we travel over 400km from Mary Kathleen to Winton, in the heart of Outback Queensland. This town is awesome with so much on offer for every style of traveller and is one of the safest and welcoming towns we have visited during our travels! We set up camp at the local’s favourite off grid waterhole just on the outskirts of town, and share our top experiences and must do’s when visiting this vibrant outback town.
Our top picks include the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, the Lark Quarry Dinosaur Stampede with Red Dirt Tours, the world class Waltzing Matilda Centre, and the quirky Musical Fence.
And with 4 pubs on the main street including the famous North Gregory Hotel and the quintessential Australian, there are plenty of great options when grabbing a meal or drink during happy hours.
Our epic road trip from South East Queensland to the incredible Red Centre - Uluru and Kata Tjuta - the beating heart of Central Australia, is underway!
We’ll be driving approximately 7500km over a 28 day period to complete this mini lap of Australia - a road trip we believe every Aussie should experience in their lifetime!

Winton is great, been there twice and still look forward to going back.
One thing if I can suggest, making an inline filter kit to integrate into your water filling hose. I have 2 inline filters I use to fill up my tanks, as well as having the filters on the taps in the caravan.
They are about $30 each from bunnings and use normal hose fittings.

A great spot on the Long Water Hole ., Winton . We camped out there 6 years ago on our 5/12 lap and plan a to visit again next year in another 6/12 lap from home base , Perth. Wonderful country ,thanks for taking us back there , another informative and enjoyable episode .
It is a wonderful location and so close to town and so quiet! We also loved watching the bird life activity on the water hole 💙🇦🇺😊
@@TheFeelGoodFamily absolutely , a wonder along the river , we saw kangaroos , birds and interesting rock areas . Was not well known back then so very few campers .
Another classy episode. We have ‘done’ Winton a couple of times and agree that it would be a great place to take the grandkids and spend some time. In fact the entire far SW QLD is full of amazing Aussie culture and history.

You showcase places so well. We're thinking of heading out that way when we next pop over the ditch to do our annual family catch-up in Brisbane. I'm thinking about hiring a motorhome. We had thought about buying a ute & caravan & leaving it somewhere for future trips. Not too sure yet.

Great episode as usual. Is it Winton that has the stage coach ride to where the swaggy was supposed to have camped? Took Mum there a few years back, we had a great time. Of course we did Longreach as well as the Stockmans Hall of Fame was on her bucketlist. Cheers Cheryl 🙂

Thank you 🙏 we have an induction cooker in the outside kitchen and just easier when we pull up for a pit stop as just plug and play. We do have gas and induction inside also 👍💙🇦🇺
Way out west? Google maps shows Winton in the upper right, which suggests NE. But maybe these things are different down under.
