@@ulfberht4431 No, you are speaking with virtually no knowledge. Yes, using the term "die" is being anthropomorphic almost. It won't die. It will simply be largely destroyed as both a tool and a valuable item. When this was filmed there was no alternative airline flying the route. Thousands of professionals fly with their violins and violas in overhead bins or under the seats EVERY DAY without incident. But any individual flight crew or gate crew can choose to decide that is not possible so every so often a rare ex. Whether that is reasonable or not is a good question, but in any case the musician is not being hysterical, he is just the unlucky one of a thousand.

Violins are so delicate and I would not put one in the overhead cabins. They are very sensitive to changes in pressure and temperature. If it costs that much, ie $150K, then it is prudent to purchase a seat for his violin and that way he can see what happens to it and he has control over it. If he relinquishes control over it, someone might inadvertently drop it or mishandle it. If it is so precious, then he should invest in purchasing a seat for it.

After all that , the woman escorted me to the aircraft and handed my passport and ticket to the flight attended while briefing her on the situation. When I arrived to the transit which was 4 hours in Abu Dhabi , another person escorted me privately to a VIP lounge where everything I wanted to eat or drink was free. Even when I arrived to back to my country , they wouldn't let me off until I met my brother who was picking me up. I didn't have to pay cent for those services . The situation might have been different if i had flown any other airline but I was bought by Etihad Airways since that flight. I actually think that one was kind of a grey area, tbh. He had some decent points with a few caveats attached.
      - If the airline isn't going to accept full liability for the viola while it's stored in the hold then they should have let him know that at the time of booking his ticket. I think as the passenger, he also had some responsibility to let them know in advance which didn't happen either.
      - This obviously isn't a normal piece of luggage and one would think that should necessitate some extra costs in terms of his plane ticket - it's hard to say whether this was a policy issue on the part of the airline or the passenger was just trying to save some money.
      - The pilot would rather just let the dickhead have his way than disrupt an entire flight and cost possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars in delays.
I honestly think everyone was a little bit wrong here and it's probably the easiest solution just to give him what he wants and send him on his way, for all parties concerned.

Yeah I really don't know what they were expecting. Both me and my boyfriend had to get written permission from our parents to fly to Iceland when we were both 17, even though he turned 18 the day after we arrived, and we had to get permission/confirmation that it was allowed from the travel agents we booked through, the company we flew with, the hotel and the tour guide company as it was a package holiday.
Even now that we're 21 and 22 sometimes we have issues booking things - we wanted to have a weekend away at Haven site in the UK and they wouldn't let us book. They don't allow groups or couples of under 25 to book unless it's a family with children.
