- Gregory Peck presents Marlene Dietrich with a special award for her one-woman Broadway show (1968). This is was Marlene's only US TV appearance (her later CBS TV special having been filmed in London) and has remained unseen since the original broadcast.

They say that The Queen thinks the world smells of fresh paint - poor Marlene must've gotten sick of the strains of 'Falling in Love Again' everywhere she made an appearance.
Still, she is fabulous. I made my annual pilgrimage to her grave in south Berlin last week; a beautiful, quiet place.
Don't you just love that grand entrance? She said "i'M HERE TO SAY THAT I LOVE BROADWAY AND IF BROADWAY LOVES ME, I LOVE IT EVEN MORE" She bowed gracefully
and then she walked in that absolutely beautiful white gown What style. I adore her.
love her ,but ,she was drunk here
A goddess in every sense. Magical, capable of both fine irony and great generosity. Marlene Dietrich always remained a stunning presence both on stage and screen during all of her artistic life. The world has been blessed by her presence in it for nearly a century.
How beautifully and accurately said. Thanks.
A Goddess on the stage and a Monster in life.
Stop idolizing these actors.
Besides she is as drunk as the Lord there.
I find her pathetic and out of touch in her later years.
Marlene Dietrich was pure sophistication !!!! I just adore her. I just can't help it !!!
Very classy and beautiful . The good old days when people had style.
she had a lot
Stylish, stuning and humble at the same time !!! I just adore her!!!
Still then, and always, a stunningly glamorous Lady.
In '68, she was around 67 yrs and stunning!
One of the most fascinating women when ever lived! I saw her in early 70's it's true about her lighting...she looked absolutely, stunningly beautiful.
Years later I had a bit part in her last film. ! Bravo Marlene!
So young, so beautiful !
Marlene is a miracle.
We know it all.
Wonderful. legendary, lovely Marlene - forever !
i didn't know this footage existed. this is a part of history. thank you for sharing it.
WOW! WOW! WOW! I have only seen the smallest slivers of clips from this - thank you so much - as usual, YOU ROCK for sharing this!!! MD looks especially lovely here - what a treat!
I love marlene dietrich! I miss her so much!
67 ans, la classe !
that classy walk...
that was a great speech she gave, and her deep and formal bows
i love her bows
Very stunning woman !
To know what was going on behind the scenes is incredible. The illusion was exactly that. The garments, the foundations, the supports, the bandages the wigs, the pins, the Ramps, the pills, the booze. The professionalism
She worked hard to be Marlene
@Emil Poulain she used braids under her wig and sterile straight pins do a temporary facelift...it was not uncommon for stage performers to do it....
So what she wore a girdle ...big deal ...i mean she's almost 70 years old here...how long is she supposed to be the sex siren....besides she wasn't the only one...she just did it better
@Emil Poulain These are all unconfirmed rumors that were born by the tabloids.
@@MagicofMarleneMarvinDietrich no the were confirmed by her daughter in her book
You can not buy class and Marlene had tons of it ❤🎼♩🎶🎵
What a classy woman. Actresses and women of today, in general, should take note
Marlene is the blue print on how to be classy. I say, you go girl!!.
True true !
Two of my favorite stars, I remember seeing this on television, she looked beautiful that night.
She is so young and beautiful!
The London concert was not her best, it's a great pity we haven't more complete concerts.
Thank you for sharing :-))
I saw her concert in Brighton in the 60s and it was great.
HOW did the audience not stand up for her. Uncouth in the extreme.
Standing ovations were not so common as they are today. Please see Sondheim's reasoning on today's standing ovations.
@@briankooker2627 Dietrich was never common!
@@JM-lw3nx I meant common as in rarity, not common as in a social elitist slur.
THANK YOU for sharing this! M.D.: there will never be another one like her. I had just moved here (San Francisco) and was attending school. Marlene was appearing at the Fairmont the same week I came to town. It turned out to be her final show here.
@OhhhCafeIstanbul Haha, glad you enjoyed it! Great to see Marlene in the 60s in colour :)
Thank you very very much !!!!!!!!!!! You have the best Videos of Marlene !!!
My friend...you are the best!!
What a footage!! Thank you so much!!
Absolutely stunning. Will never tire of the way she talks.
LIKE ALL GREAT STARS - TOTALLY UNIQUE!
Absolutely stunning - never seen that rare television footage before - thank you so much for sharing !
thank you sooo much for this!
there will never be another ! ABSOLUTE MAGIC !
WOW! Thank you so much for posting.
Pure class.
Miss Dietrich was tiny but she could make a huge entrance.
Actually she wasn't tiny.. But age might have shrunk her a little here so her head appears to be quite big, what makes her look smaller.
Filmdude0 I think she had a face lift.
Patsy's dolls She didn't. She used a certain technique to pull back her hair and make her face tighter.
Jessie Louis oh ok!
oh yes.... she definitely knew how to make an entrance...
this girl knew how make an entrance... funny that they nearly had to pull her off stage..
🤔 Yes,l noticed that.
fully drunk
I'm so happy to see this. thank you for sharing.
simply divine.......
ouf là y a rien à dire! elle était sublime!
Just amazing to see this, you have made me very happy indeed.Thank you
wow!!! AMAZING TRULY AMAZING!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH.
She's so awesome.
Grandissima interpretazione
She is also putting on such a show...but well...those days....
I LOVE this beyond words! I've certainly never seen that! Wow, she is very proud of that and she is adorable and of course beautiful!
Fine Program Thanks for posting!
Aloha from Hawaii!
never see it before !!! Thanks for sharing !!!!
that's ONLY Marlene!
@MaxZiemer Glad you enjoyed it, it's a pleasure!
Wonderful!
Indeed a great video.
They weren't pulling her offstage. She was only there for 3 minutes and she was deeply moved and responding to the love she was receiving. And as far as the comments about her creating glamour and herself as being fake or false everyone is busy creating themselves and experiencing or moving toward experiencing who they want to be and there is no difference. As Shakespeare said all the world is a stage.
@2507YANKEL Thanks for your comment! I think Steven Bach, who mentions Marlene's tripping on stage at the Tonys, probably mistook footage filmed at an awards show in Taormina in 1962 where Marlene wore a similar white dress, as being from the Tony Awards. The footage from the Taormina International Film Awards is used in Maximillian Schell's documentary, "Marlene".
sublime!!!
Thanks Marlene, Aloha from Hawaii
She invented glamour , love her since I was about 8 , great respect for her !
The utterly mesmorizing Marlene!
Just lovely , a unique wonderful woman
Her humility is quite touching
Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!
Una gran artista, incomparable.
she looked amazing for her age. if she had plastic surgery all i can say is the doctors back then were a heck of a lot better at their craft than the surgeons around today.
WOW!!!
This is incredible! Thank you!
SPECTACULAR
... la classe !!! Sublime...
@MarJay85 Glad you enjoyed it!
where have all the Divas gone?
What is the name of this instrumental song played during her entrance? Is it Falling in Love Again?
When she left the theater after her opening night (at the Palace??) the street by the stage door was so crowded with fans that she couldn't get into her limousine. So, she climbed om top of it and drove off sitting atop the car.
It proved so successful that she did that every night.t
She sure could put on a show.
I went with my boss and his wife and my friend Richie, who I loved, but couldn't say so. I think he loved me too, but he also couldn't say so. Stonewall hadn't happened yet.
Memories. I brought along a tape recorder and taped the show. It's long gone now.
So did you and Richie get a happy ending? :)
@matic bukavic...
No happy ending. We barely touched each other. His mother had built very thick and powerful walls around him, and his brother. No love could survive the effort to overcome that damn wall.
Eventually, after our time together was just a memory, Richard ran away from home. He said goodbye to one or two people (not me) and disappeared forever. I spoke with his brother a few years ago and wrote a letter just three years ago. He never returned nor contacted anyone.
A vicious mother clutching the hearts of her children destroys even the mere possibility of a life.
Ah well.
@paulcrees1 So glad you enjoyed it!
She looks fabulous !
A real Diva !
@Ojara985 I agree! Glad you enjoyed it!
Her body looks so weird here, but she will always be the most glamorous person ever
Magnifique 🐞💎🌾
Marlene possédait une classe inouïe.
Impressionnant.
God! What a class!
@tvhaugaland Ms Riva apparently misremembered Marlene's stumble at the Tonys, probably confusing it with an appearance at Taormina in 1962, where Marlene did trip when receiving an award (the latter footage is shown in Maximillian Schell's documentary, "Marlene").
@Thorneycroft1937 Glad you enjoyed it!
she looks beautiful!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Marlene Dietrich ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️❤️
By chance do you know the date from this award?
A class act all the way. Thank you Marlene
Wow that was a serious acting voice she gave
@johneunson A pleasure!
❤
@MarleneXtreme A pleasure Irene! :)
No, it is us who feel 'stoned' in the company of the utterly mesmorizing Marlene
she is a diva!!!!
Falling in love again.
No standing ovation???????!!
