Luke is right. The Ken Burns story of Country music ended too soon. There are so many who brought country back from the Pop era of country music like George Straight, Allen Jackson and Brooks and Dunn. Luke Combs is one that is bringing country music back to it's roots and I love it and him. I'm a 62 year old grandma that love Luke's music. I'm excited about his new CD. I play them constantly. I am so happy for Luke in his success. Good job.
I agree with y'all. Back when I was growing up in 90's there was a lot of folks singing songs about the folks like me working with my hands. The 1 man that sang a lot of music about Harding working Americans was Aaron tippin. He's also the one that let me down when he came to do a show at my county Fair. My county Fair here in Ohio rivils Ohio State fair and our county Fair is actually called the little state fair. He came to do a show and this was the second time I seen him. 1st time he lived up to everything he sang the first time. The second time at our county Fair it had rained that day off and on and Aaron threw a fit and absolutely would not do the show unless it was moved indoors because he didn't wanna get wet. We had local bands that had played all day right there the rain. The show was on a stage that had a roof so he probably wouldn't have even really got wet. The only indoor area was a show barn which didn't hold maybe 150 to 200 people max. So needles to say there was a whole lot of mad folks because they didn't get to see the show. His songs about being hard working includes a whole lot of us sucking it up and working in the rain. A man can write a good song but if he's lived the life about the song he's singing then I believe he makes that song 100 times better. Aaron tippin ain't that kinda feller. I lost respect for him that day.
I love watching your interviews, Mr Kix. You are a total natural at this. And much love and respect to Luke. The man is ON FIRE right now & he deserves all the accolades & acclaim hes gotten so far. And his new album kicks butt!!!

I been thinking that for a long time. I'd love to see some of the greats from the 90's go on your with some of today's stats like Luke Combs, Jamey Johnson and Chris Stapleton. To be honest I don't even listen to the radio anymore for this new pop country. Theres a newer feller and I can't think of his name at the moment but he seems to be genuinely as traditional as Nashville will let him and he's good. I just watched a video of him at the Grand ol opry and folks really lived his classic sound. Hopefully all is real fans are finally starting to be heard when we say we want our country music back but only time will tell.

Late 60s to early 70s is the greatest era of country music in my opinion. Then the strings really took over and the sound got too sweet for me.
COuntry music is just the blues from a different point of view.
