- We continue our homestead prepping and show how to build a solar dryer with this easy simple DIY solar food dehydrator design using solar energy & dehydrating food for long term storage while living in the Ozarks, There will be a follow up video very soon giving a 1 year food dehydrator review of this off grid build to detail if we were successful in dehydrating food without electricity with this easy food preserving practice and give my thoughts if drying food is truly another one of those good food storage ideas using solar power to preserve food longer off grid or during some disaster where food becomes more scarce. Maybe you want to preserve food with free solar energy?
May all your branches become full of fruit.

Good job Thom
I really like your content on the Solar Food Dehydrator. You inspired me to start my own build, based to your build. Keep up the good work buddy.
Good video
Me, me, me....Doe, Ray, Me ha ha. Very nicely done Thom. Good detail on the build and explanation.
Nothing like having a little Johnny Cash in your head right before trying to talking to camera huh. Thanks bud. Guess next time I need to make sure I can finish before it gets dark. LoL
Nicely clearly articulate - easy to understand so I can make this myself. Thank you
Thank you sir. I hope you check out the other vids on this and pick up some of the other considerations that I figured out for the build. It's still a great build. Thanks again.
Nice explanation thanks Mr. Thom 🙏👏
Nice build. Looking forward to follow up
I'm on it. ;)
Dude. Excellent video and right on point. I will be looking for a tight closing cabinet. Maybe an old refrigerator. Doubt a can find used electrical cabinet. Thank you😊
very well explained It helped me to make like this one for me.thanks alot
Glad to hear that
Very impressive, explain, profesional solar dehydrator, fallow from Puerto Rico
Thank you very much!/
Very well explained, thanks.
very nice content, do you provide any technical drawing for your dehydrator?
We built very similar to yours using the polycarbonate, can't get over 100 degrees. Any ideas?
could be a number of things lack of enough sunlight, not clearly sealing things off for the heat/insulation, not having enough air circulation, not painting things black, making the dehydrator too big in comparison with the solar heater part, ect.
👍
Furing strips. Thats what the wood is called lol.
LoL..... Yeah I finally remembered and figured it out. I get forgetful trying to talk in front of a camera worry about sound and battery life etc. Thanks.
What was the total cost in material to build. Not your labor.
Hey there guys.......It's hard to say. I had so much on hand already and I wouldn't have a clue on pricing that Elec. cabinet box. My best guess right off hand if I had to purchase everything would be somewhere around $300 - $400. I had almost everything here but I still had to purchase it at some point.
@@3basketliving thanks for the guess it will help others know what to budget if they want to build one similar
Oh I totally get that and had planned on covering or touching that subject with the review and thoughts I'm gonna give in the next vid. I considered the same when thinking about how much I would be willing to invest into something like this. Looking at the prices of electric driven ones in comparison to the solar all the while considering the pros and cons to both. ;)
Good job Thom
