  • Hello my beautiful fam! Welcome back to my kitchen today I’m going to share with you how I make some delicious pupusas. I’m not Salvadoran but I love pupusas, and here in Az I have not found a good spot where they sale them, so I was determined to learn how to make them. ( and gosh they are as close as the only time I remember having a good pupusas) The one time I had them was when one of my moms friend made them,( she is Salvadoran) so shout out to her for helping me with this recipe! They are seriously delicious, so please if you are from El Salvador don’t come after me if Im making them wrong 🙈 give me your tips so I can master this recipe 😊 I by no means trying to offend anyone by recreating a recipe out of my culture, i enjoy them as much as I enjoy a gordita( they are in my opinion very similar) keep in mind like every recipe and every household there are tons of variations that make this delicious recipe, you can always adjust it to your taste, I really hope you enjoy it as much as me and my family do, and as always if you do please don’t forget to give me a big thumbs up, comment down below your thoughts and if you new to my channel please hit that subscribe buttons so you can be part of our family!!!!!! 😘

As a salvadoreña I applaud you for trying to make this recipe, my mom own a pupuseria back in El Salvador she’s the pupusas master lol, and let me tell it’s one of the hardest dishes to master! One tip blend your frijoles and when it’s little warm add the cheese and then kneed it together, make the dough a little softer these two trick will help you so they don’t crack. 😉

I love! pupusas my husband is from El Salvador so his mom would make these all the time I would make them every now and then but they were hard to form so I just kept tryin different ways to make it easier for me to form them and finally got it down. You should make your masa softer it is sooo much easier to make them they will not crack like that. Your masa may seem too wet and you may think its too sticky but it’s perfect as we use the oil on our hands too form them the will not stick to your hands at all. Just a little tip 😉 Love all your recipes by the way 😍

I do have one tip that my mother taught me, for the cheese she mixes 2-3 cheeses together, the base is always queso fresco, then she will add queso cotija and monterey jack cheese (monzerella would be fine, also oaxacan cheese). I love how you use fresh beans from the olla, it makes a total difference. Hugs and kisses

I’m Salvadorian and currently learning how to make them from my mom and all I can tell you is when you make the masa, use lukewarm water, not too warm but not too cold. Your masa needs to be soft enough so when you add the filling, it’ll be easier for you to flatten them. If they break, you can easily just close it with the oil like you did on the video as well.

It makes me sad that you might be worried about offending someone because your making something outside of your culture. What you are doing is beautiful and you are celebrating the gifts that you have seen or tried. If anything, you are complimenting who you think it represents. I think the world will be a better place when we can share what we know and make people happy. God bless you and your work, even though I've gained a little weight making these recipes for my family.☘️♥️🔥

I’ve been craving these recently! I grew up going to a Hispanic church that had a beautiful mix of latino members. So our potlucks were lovely! Pupusas were such a treat! I always made a beeline for them 🤣💗 Some curtidos had too much vinegar to my liking so I like your measurements.

I never comment on videos but I just have to say I LOVE your recipes. Every one I have tried is amazing. Can't wait to try this one! I am white but my husband is half Mexican half Salvadoran and you have helped me learn how to make some of his most favorite foods :) By the way, I live in Arizona too and the best pupusas we have found are at Cristina's (in Avondale) and El Guanaquito (near downtown Phoenix). Thanks again for all the great recipes!
