"Sometimes, the best experiences are unplanned.
We accepted an invitation from Shen's family in Shui-Shang Township, Chiayi, to visit their converted old house in Dalun, which turned into a cozy bookshop. That evening, we enjoyed an outdoor music performance and barbecue party. Dalun Township is beautiful, like a secluded little community, and the people there are friendly and warm. We had a truly unique night.
The next day, we went on a short trip to Yanshui. We finally got to revisit the church that was closed last year due to the pandemic. We strolled through the Wangye Lane, tried winter melon tea, and bought two boxes of Yanshui noodles to take home. In just a couple of hours, we couldn't explore everything, and we missed the opportunity to visit Baguolou, leaving us with a reason to return.
The seafood at Budai Fishing Harbor was abundant, and the crowd was bustling, although the area seemed a bit dated. Despite not being able to explore thoroughly, it was still an enjoyable experience.
We are truly grateful for Shen's family's invitation, which allowed us to experience such sincere and moving music and smiles. Looking forward to our next gathering.
