  • If you're looking for an easier hike at North Cascades National Park, the Blue Lake Trail is a good option. The 4.6 mile out and back trail has around 900 feet of elevation gain most of which is a gentle grade. The trail is primarily in the forest but opens up at the end where you'll enjoy the majestic surrounding peaks and of course Blue Lake. Video shot mid July 2023.

    Thanks for the video! We were checking to see if it would be good for our 9 & 10 year old and they’ll definitely be able to handle it!

      You’re welcome! This is definitely a family friendly hike. Once you get to the lake, make sure you take the trail up the hill to your right. Maybe you get lucky and see mountain goats like we did. Enjoy NCNP, it’s one of our favorites!

    So beautiful! When we visited in Late June of 2022, there had been heavy May snowfall and the trail was still under up to 9 feet of snow and very difficult to navigate. We spent a total of 5 hours on the "trail," and never made it to the lake. It's crazy now to see how well worn the trail actually is and that part of it even has a boardwalk.

      We were there the first and second weeks of July 2023. We completed a few hikes in the park and the snow was not an issue. It’s a beautiful part of our country. Hope you’re able to visit the park again someday and enjoy this trail 😊.

      @@BuckeyeDrifters we really want to get back there some day. We had multiple hikes there and at Rainier that we were unable to do because of the snow pack.

    This is absolutely stunning! Thank you for giving me inspiration :) What kind of camera do you film on for hikes?

      It’s a beautiful lake and the goats were icing on the cake. I’m currently using an iPhone 14 Pro for our videos. The video quality is decent but not as good as an actual camera would be. I just prefer the convenience of a pocket camera (phone) over carrying a regular camera. Thanks for watching and happy trails to you 😊.

      Thanks for watching! We were at the park the first 2 weeks of July 2023. All the trails we hiked were in great condition and the temps were perfect. Happy trails!

    I am probably going on this hike when I get out there this summer. Did you have any trouble with your car/vehicle parked for this trail? I've heard about breakins along 20. Love this video, thanks!!

    • @BuckeyeDrifters
      @BuckeyeDrifters  Před 3 měsíci +1

      You should do the hike. We had head of break-ins too but this particular parking lot is close enough to the road that you should be okay. You should be fine with the nearby Maple Pass and Cutthroat Pass trailhead parking too. It’s those trailhead parking lots the are tucked away far from the road that are a little more risky to park at. Enjoy your visit!
