AFIS stands for aerodrome flight information service. It is the man in the tower who gives the pilots information about the weather and runway condition.

Great video, most be an interesting job with the weather up there as well. I never realised the local tower did not have any radar and that the local traffic was not in controlled airspace. Will that change with the new runway and tower ? It will be amazing watching the first ref A330-neo land and to be part of the new era ! All the best.
