Michel Pereira is sooo entertaining and unbelievably athletic but he can also be pretty damn stupid. This particular fight he missed weight by like 5 pounds and was gassed before the fight even started. His walk in took about 10 minutes and by the time he had reached the octagon he must've backflipped atleast 6 or 7 times... Completely underestimated Connelly who btw stepped in on late notice like one week ahead of the event which makes it even more embarrassing for Pereira.

Tristan also took this fight on 5 days notice, moved up a weight class. He got rocked hard in the first round and then went to work in the 2nd & 3rd and edged Pereira out. Mad respect.
It gets even funnier when you consider that -- while he had most recently fought at Lightweight on the regional scene -- after this fight, Tristan dropped two weight classes down to _Featherweight_ which is where he had fought on multiple occasions before and probably should have been the entire time!
Furthermore, Pereira is an exceptionally big Welterweight. Probably one of the biggest we've seen in years. He cuts an obscene amount of weight (judging by his multiple misses on the scale) and probably should have been at 185 this whole time, which he recently transitioned to.
So, depending on how you look at it, this fight had a debuting future UFC Featherweight beating a future UFC Middleweight on short notice.

My favorite fight of all time, saw this live! Connelly is my friend & coach and made the most of the opportunity! He was well prepared & not intimidated by Pereira size and crazy antics, stuck to the basics, his gameplan & constant fwrd pressure (wich a large reason why pereira got tired) connelly deserves all the credit in the world, 5 days notice, up a weightclass against a beast! What an amazing & well deserved moment for Connelly. Best ufc debut, lost my voice, hometown crowd went absolutsly wild ! Credit to Perreira who made it 🔥 , it takes 2 to tango. He got humbled a bit, but learned from it and is still going strong! You cant script this shit! Unbelievable moment! #boondockbaby
