With the Moshi garbage depot that caters to Pimpri-Chinchwad running out space, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has been in talks with the forest department to acquire 61acres at Punawale to set up a new garbage disposal site. The land at Punawale is not proposed for garbage dumping yard or depot. The land has a reservation as a waste disposal site.

Yes we have to stand together and raise our voices against this dumping yard. PCMC can't cut millions of trees(Lungs of west Pune) and dump waste here which will also impact drinking water of entire PCMC. This will impact wakad Tathawade and hinjawadi as well because natural air flow is from West to East.

@@vitthalbaral4017 No, i m from Nigdi pradhikaran.. in our locality, near Ganesh talav.. we have waste segregation unit ... exactly adjustant to crore rupees buglows ... still we have accepted it ..it stinks everyday, stray dogs increased bcz of it .. but still never heard any local protested against it... that is how any educated residents accepts local authorities' decision...

rather than be in doubt people should visit the location. It's surrounded by all popular builder societies, be it VJ, Kohinoor, Rohan, Kohinoor, Kolte Patil. SWMP decision was made 15 years back. I don't think they will do it now based on the fact that it has societies, hospitals and schools and what not in its neighbourhood.
You are wrong. 15 years ago, they had option of Moshi dumpyard. but now its full and they urgently need another dumpyard. it will take them another 5 years to approve new location and for which they can't wait. if they would have option to go somewhere else, they would have done that long time ago. They need dumpyard immediately and there is no other option than Punawale. so it will definitely happen.
This is 2023 we don't need dumpyard. Treat waste don't dump it like an uncivilized ass

It was proposed there since last 15 years. I too had booked the 3bhk in Punawale last year.. But after rechecking all the facts and development plan of PCMC. Decided not to risk all my hard earned money as well as the Health of the family. I had cancled the booking just before the aggriment. As of now the latest news around this is that PCMC is offering 61 Acre land in Chandrapur district in Compensation of Punawale forest area. Will have to wait for how things turn up now on.
Also it will be a solid waste management plant similar what we have in aundh. So I think nothing much to worry.
@@llyy8588 Yes, But the size matters.. Aundh is mearly 1 acre of land and this is going to be whooping 61 acres of land. So we can imagine the size of waste and stink it will spread all over punawale

Today..deputy chief minister ajit dada pawar ordered to pcmc adminstration change this garbage location and shift to another place...due to huge numbers of residence are near by that punawale garbage location.
Also ajit dada said don't play with residents health and change the location as soon as possible.

It's false news spread. Actual news is, Ajit dada tell us that they will find a solution after hearing from both parties. And it can't be decided in 2-3 meetings.
So IMO, It will take long time to sort.

I stayed in this area on rent for two years (2017-2019). This decision has been pending since 20 years. I was aware of that hence cancelled my decision to buy property in this area.
And if this has to Move somewhere else residents of that area would suffer.
This is happening all over now. People are getting duped by the nexus of corporators and builders. They knew it and bought land at a low rate to sell a flat scheme. It is always a preference that people cut the jungle to make it home and once they settle they do not allow others to cut the remaining one.

I had lodged RTI request to confirm whether Punawale SWM is cancelled or not. They replied that it is not cancelled. Only pending due to alternate land for forest.
Mam, developers targeted the middle class people and sold the flats by giving low rates for flats. Throughout PCMC almost 60% of construction work is ongoing in punavale only. Developers want to sell there flats before starting the dump yard, else no one will purchase the flats. Developers made the people fool.

This project was proposed since long. Why did buyers ignore this and went ahead with buying the properties?
It is not fault of PCMC administration they have proposed dumping yard by doing proper research. People who bought homes in this area even though they know there is garbage dumping is proposed. there are other locations nearby which are more developed in west Pune. Builders got land in this area at cheaper rate due to proposed garbage yard and they built apartments and sold at lower price as compared to adjacent areas but in future people who live there have to suffer.
In that case, there shouldn’t be any development in 500m of buffer zone. But there are many projects approved by PCMC only within the limit of their defined buffer zone.
Why haven't they built in 2008 only when this was proposed.After 15 years if you are going to build then you will face hurdles definitely. Who changed the buffer zone from 500 meter to 100 meter

There is no connecting road to this huge township in wagholi since last 10 years and kolte patil is not able to resolve this road issue since last 10 years and how you think these builders will be able to fight with PCMC?

It will be issue. Most of the time garbage gets burned due to heat or some human interference. Then that area becomes inhabitable due to huge amount of plastic gets burned very often. Also solid waste management impacts water quality. So better to avoid in long run.

In Moshi's DP plan also, they mentioned SWM. But in actual they developed dumping yard in moshi. That's why I felt dumping yard and SWM will be same
