It's also better to have sure footing within your construction site, my goodness you guys climbed those stairs and they absolutey need a visit with that broom, YIKES! 👍🏼😀

My thoughts - feel free to disregard! I would place 1-2 cameras on tripods, let them film, and sweep up and get things ready for Billy to get on with it. And focus on what he's doing whilst you have him there, rather than filming angles, and him sweeping up. You'll never probably never have the house like that again, so I would replace the joists, make it super sturdy before laying the floors, and then going forward, you know you're sorted for years to come, as once everything is in - massive job to undo. Like I said - just my thoughts, feel free to disregard! ☺
Billy is so right about Just Do It. I can't believe the things I've learned to do over the past 10 years that I've been updating my house. Of course, I leave the really technical stuff to the the experts (electricals, plumbing). But basically, youtube has been a Godsend.
Ryan, I'm a single mother who renovated my house whilst pregnant (and during the first year after birth) without knowing anything about renovation. I asked for help when needed and learned as I went. It's not perfect, but it's pretty darn good. You can do it too!
Fun video. Someone commented about keeping the floors clean is a safety thing. I would like to see you sweep all the stairs to get rid of the plaster debris so that you don't slip on it and fall.

He is strong and capable, needs other people’s help and is subject to their schedules. Keeping on top of the construction mess is a safety issue as well and having Nick who didn’t mind, show up to that job site in the state it was in was not a set up for the camera.

Ryan, yes, cost is always a consideration but, seriously, those last joists in the top where you are wanting to install a floor to capture and make use of the space, just do it and replace these joists. It will give you a secure foundation for the floor you want to install and there won't be any regrets later that "we should have just done this right" all the way up. Anything worth doing is worth doing right.
Clean up every day Ryan and don’t wait for your friends to come and waste their valuable time doing what you should have done. Far more productive if they can start with a clean slate and not have to clean up after you. The very least you can do is keep your site tidy !!

It's good to see Billy P help you with the continuation of the floor joists as he and his help have been crackin' on at the convent with the installation of metal beams, floor joists and noggins.

You teach a man to fish he will never go hungry a day in his life.” Billy missed the mark by doing the work for you rather than guide you through the steps doing the work yourself so you could do it on your own. There are many things you can do on your own. For example, all that cleaning and trips to the tip could have been done by you before Nick arrived and his time invested would have been put to use more wisely. The anxiety from anticipation is much worse than just going for it and at least making progress til you need more expert guidance. You’ve got this! One step at a time and before you know it you are farther than you thought possible! (And I never noticed there was no music!)

Ryan, your very nice person but it would help if you took Billy's words to heart. It doesn't cost anything to sweep. I challenge you to do a super job of cleaning. Starting at the top (stairs to attic) and working your way down. I always end a job leaving enough time to clean up, organize and put away tools. Yes, Ryan, Billy is a fantastic friend and a phenomenal worker. However, I would go with Nick Moon on replacing all the joists. The original ones you currently have are warped, not all the same size, and some, if not all, are rotten. Spend a little extra now for peace of mind in the future.

It's great you have such helpful and knowledgeable friends, but I do think you need to take Billy's advice and just the next job that needs to be done, break it down to a manageable size, and dive in. You'll find your more capable than you give yourself credit for.

When feeling overwhelmed with how much nerds to be done, I always think of something I heard years ago, and it's helped me a lot. It's 'how to you eat an elephant?' 'one bite at a time'. Just as Billy said, just focus on one project, and when it's done, move on to the next. Or make a list of everything that needs to be done for either the whole house, or just each floor. Check the task off as it's done. Then you'll see just how much you've actually done. You're doing great Ryan. With everything Billy is doing, if there's something you need to learn, go help Billy. I remember when you took the wallpaper down in the apartment without cleaning as you go. It was a rather big mess.

Ryan, your very nice person but it would help if you took Billy's words to heart. It doesn't cost anything to sweep. I challenge you to do a super job of cleaning. Starting at the top (stairs to attic) and working your way down. I always end a job leaving enough time to clean up, organize and put away tools. It makes a difference in my attitude and my environment is a lot safer. sending much love ❤

I agree with the clean as you go philosophy because if you don't the mess just gets exponentially worse as you go. Plus it makes you appreciate what you've achieved to date. Kind of therapeutic in a way.

Yes, Ryan, Billy is a fantastic friend and a phenomenal worker. However, I would go with Nick Moon on replacing all the joists. The original ones you currently have are warped, not all the same size, and some, if not all, are rotten. Spend a little extra now for peace of mind in the future.

OMG Ryan, Billy’s right. It is safer to keep a worksite clean. It looks like you never cleaned since Nick left. Surely you could’ve done that much. I would also say to you that CZcams has great people so stay one step ahead of the next project by at least watch a few videos. Totally agree with Billy….best is to take charge and just get on with the renovation on your own….it is your house! I wouldn’t rely so much on others as it then could take a lot longer…good to get advice when needed, of course. Good to see it coming on!

I don't know how Billy gets everything done...Nick is a man of many gifts. Ryan is good at assisting! Listen to Billy, he's giving you good advice, Ryan. Again---Billy works as Ryan watches, look at that mess! For shame, Ryan! Yes, Ryan definitely has anxiety. He's taken on a huge task and hasn't a clue, but he's willing! When feeling overwhelmed with how much nerds to be done, I always think of something I heard years ago, and it's helped me a lot. It's 'how to you eat an elephant?' 'one bite at a time'. Just as Billy said, just focus on one project, and when it's done, move on to the next. Or make a list of everything that needs to be done for either the whole house, or just each floor. Check the task off as it's done. Then you'll see just how much you've actually done. You're doing great Ryan. With everything Billy is doing, if there's something you need to learn, go help Billy.
