  • My friend did his first modification or really an addition under the hood of his Lexus RC F Track Edition. It is a RR-Racing Air Intake Heat Shield to reduce the amount of hot air being sucked in and rather get cooler air from the fender wheel well area. He also showed his his secret air intake modification. It is brilliant. Thanks for watching and leave your questions below. Enjoy!

    Julius and you make a great team! When I had the vacuum line disconnected, there was a noticeable loss in low end torque below 3600 rpm. I reconnected it and never disconnected it again. That is why I got the AFE Power cold air intake as it retains the OEM airbox while giving a new pipe and filter.

    Haha this went from G(General Audience) Rating to R Rated 🔞real quick. On a serious note though, I contemplated this mod but I monitored my IA temps in original stock design and there was zero increase in temperature when the intake opened under wide open throttle. It was surprising RR made the claim on substantial temperature increase. Reason why I always do my own independent tests. If I do a mod it's absolutely going on the dyno. With the IA temps it was easy to check with OBD Fusion app to test validity of whether the stock air box necessitated this mod.

      I was also on fence with this mod. Did you monitor IAT when the car is moving? I will do the same and report, that is if my OBD tool can do this. It read live data but it is older.

    I’m really hyped to see more on the track edition as I have the same car and would like to see the different ideas that are out there. I know there’s not much for our car as of now I’ve already done exhaust intake mod lowered more carbon fiber parts. But I know there’s no tune available for our cars. I was curious to know when he left the flap open on the intake Did that increase power low end or did it decrease power low and what were the games for doing that?

    What's the value add for leaving the intake box open 24/7??? I gotta think that Lexus spending millions on R&D did that for a reason.....

    • @racegt3394
      @racegt3394 Před 2 lety +1

      Spot on! Why pit yourself against the $$$$ of R&D? You actually loose low end torque when you leave it open all the time. If one wants to go against the grain do your own independent testing. It is not fortuitous to blindly go into willy-nilly "performance" mods

    • @Parakoopawing
      @Parakoopawing Před 2 lety +2

      The flap is not made for performance but rather for noise emission control. Unplug it and enjoy the engine sound below 4000rpm. It’s a difference like day and night, feels like a completely different car. In the end just a mod for the emotions.

    Did the Heat Shield provide any power difference? Anything noticeable right off the bat? Living in Norcal, we have hot summer and decently cold winters. Want to see if this is something that helps.

    The sad thing about jdm cars is that they won't ever get a quality product as the German rivals do. Look up m3 e9x/rs5 v8/c63 m156 intakes. Those look amazing and are actually brining solid gains.
