Unlike Phelps, she's not even a born athlete but she works SO hard on her training that you can actually tell her physical disadvantages are balanced perfectly with those things she's very good at such as her catch and her kick. Many Olympic swimmers say she swims like a dude and guess what, she even trains with dudes and gets to beat them too. She's been tested for drugs a gazillion times. In conclusion, she's hella smart and hella good.

      what physical disadvantages

@@loganwalley3114physical disadvantages compared to the typical swimmer body. There's a presentation given by Bruce Gemmell, very old one really where he sums up her physical characteristics such as average feet and hands size, height etc. You can look it up here, it's called something like Training Katie Ledecky for World Championship. Michael Phelps on the other hand is a very weird type of swimmer but those "weird" physical attributes made him the best swimmer ever.

What??? She has HUGE advantages! Her style shouldn't work. Her kicking is minimal until the end but she still holds. Also her arms are longer than average for her height which is a huge advantage in swimming if not the most important. She WAS born an athlete. Her natural stroke is perfection. Watch her and Phelps side by side...Katy is smooth as Carmel. Phelps advantage is being male. You can't compare them. It's not right to compare her to him.
Other than male, he is also not a distance swimmer. Distance literally is a whole different art.

@@agusromero357 her mom was a swimmer, an NCAA ranked female swimmer. At 15 she beat a world record by 6 seconds. Before she was even fully matured. There are mountains of female Olympic athletes that a far worse disadvantage. An athlete in this category is always born.
Also...Phelps is VERY good. He was a bomb to our swimming world. But there are males who've already broke his records, Drescal is the fastest human on earth in the pool. Not Phelps, in fact...Drescal is responsible for the greatest mens relay comebacks of all time and broke the world record. Phelps lost time in that relay to the Australias. There is a difference in a sprint swimmer and a long distance swimmer.
Katie is the most decorated female swimmer in history. Even after she went to college and didn't go pro straight out of highschool. She took 2 years off and came back like the prodigal son.
