  • A car trapped under a landslide, a domino effect triggered by a shocking coal mine incident.
And collapsed bridges in Taiwan, cranes ablaze in the heart of Manhattan, and so on.
Today, we will show you ten spectacular yet destructive disasters captured by cameras.
    Landslide in Yan'an City, China
In July 2013, heavy rainfall hit Shanxi Province, China, but during the rainy season, such occurrences are not uncommon.
What was truly remarkable was a different event captured by cameras near Yan'an City.
Take a look at the pedestrian holding an umbrella.
He is well aware that something ominous is approaching from above at this location.
Of course, he couldn't have predicted that the threat would be a massive landslide.
    Nanfengao Bridge
The bridge is a highly regulated structure.
Specialized technical staff inspect the condition of components like concrete and reinforcements, ensuring the structural safety.
In 2016, such an inspection took place on Taiwan's Nanfengao Bridge, and as a result, 10 million Taiwanese dollars were allocated for repair work over the following two years.
However, despite these efforts, on October 1, 2019, the bridge collapsed, a moment captured by cameras.
The bridge had endured the onslaught of Typhoon Mitag the day before and was hit by a magnitude 3.8 earthquake on the morning of the collapse.
    Manhattan Crane, USA
Manhattan, with its towering skyscrapers, is one of the well-known symbols of New York.
Naturally, the more high-rise buildings there are, the stronger the impression of this symbol becomes.
Therefore, you can always see cranes busy with the construction of new gigantic buildings here.
On July 26, 2023, a fire broke out on one of these cranes.
The operator tried to extinguish the fire but was unsuccessful.
    Anchor
An anchor is an essential device for any ship.
It secures the vessel in place through its own weight and the weight of the chain.
So, losing an anchor can be extremely troublesome.
However, when a crew member accidentally loosens the brake, and the chain rapidly descends, sometimes there's no other choice.
Stopping the anchor becomes impossible, and you must accept losing this crucial accessory.
Ferry "Volcán de Tamasite", Canary Islands
Sometimes, you have to stop at just the right moment to avoid trouble.
However, that wasn't the case for the passenger ferry "Volcán de Tamasite,".
On April 21, 2017, the 142-meter-long vessel, "Volcán de Tamasite", operated by Armas Maritime, failed to stop at the appropriate time and collided with the reinforced concrete wall of the pier at Puerto de la Luz in Las Palmas, Canary Islands.
According to the company that owns the ship, the accident was caused by a power failure to the engines.
The crew attempted to drop anchor to avoid the collision, but it proved ineffective.
    Fluffy Jesus
This time, I will tell you about a failure that, although it did not lead to a tragedy, resulted in no losses.
In fact, this failure turned into a commercial success and made Spanish woman Cecilia Giménez a celebrity.
In 2010, an 80-year-old woman obtained permission from a clergyman to restore a fresco in the Sanctuary of Mercy church in Borja, Spain.
You don't need a video documenting the entire restoration process to understand the gravity of this failure.
Just pictures of the original mural and the fresco after the restoration will suffice.
    Two Planes in India
It's a rare sight to see an airplane on the road.
If an airplane were to appear among the flow of cars, everyone's attention would be drawn to it.
That's exactly what happened in 2021 when a retired Airbus A320 was being transported for dismantling from Indira Gandhi Airport near New Delhi, India.
The wings had been removed from the aircraft to fit the road's width, but its height wasn't accounted for.
This should not have been overlooked!
    Dragline Domino Effect in Australia
What do you think about dominoes?
Watching domino tiles fall one by one, creating a long, continuous "snake," can feel somewhat magical, don't you think?
    Are you drawn to dominoes?
However, the same cannot be said for a domino effect captured by a camera at Wesfarmers Curragh coal mine in Central Queensland, Australia, in 2008.
During routine maintenance of a dragline, an inexperienced operator operating the crane's "Lampson 4600 Transi-Lift" accidentally pulled the wrong lever.
    Landslide in China
On June 8, 2019, near Dongge Road in Nanning City, China, construction machinery at a construction site was urgently being removed.
This was because observant workers had noticed cracks in the asphalt after heavy rainfall.
Thanks to their vigilance, many troubles were avoided, and people were evacuated in advance, anticipating an emergency.
It was only a matter of time before that emergency occurred.
And that time came at 17:30 local time.
Approximately 4,500 cubic meters of soil collapsed the retaining wall at the construction site and surged into the construction site.
