To help protect Students During a Possible Shooting Situation:
Students need to have bulletproof vests in their size and additionally protective headgear/helmet stored and assigned in a secure closet in each and for all classrooms. The parents will have to pay for these mandatory accessories but there should be programs in place to help parents that may not be able to afford or have difficulty affording the gear, to ensure EVERY child is accounted for.
There should be drills, just like there are fire drills, to practice already being ready for such a situation. The Gear must be stored in a secure closet in each classroom with each vest and helmet assigned to a particular student in the class. Additionally, the same rule applies to staff with the exception that they are given non-lethal weapons that can be used to temporarily disable a student. Staff may be authorized to carry non-lethal weapons.
There should be special protocol in place for the cafeteria and recess areas, or going from one class to the next, etc., or perhaps times where it is mandatory to wear the gear for a particular situation/event. This would protect children and Staff from fatal bullet wounds and help give parents peace of mind for the care of their children.
Additionally, this could be expanded Nationwide to places other than schools; for example, malls can have specific emergency gear stations and protocol--effective, strict, complicent, regulated protocol--in case there is ever an open fire situation. Vests and helmets should come in different sizes, with a corresponding label for each size. This style of protection can follow to all types of places in America--and the world--to ensure citizens are kept safe and have peace of mind where they go.
Having laws that enforce these protocol will help create a standard for each school/place in which everyone is trying to go about their everyday lives, peacefully. - God bless you all! I hope this protocol is implemented. Love and Peace:)
