He's using metal machines to make music, this is LITERALLY industrial!!!
that was exactly my thoughts as well, the epitome of industrial.
He's actually making non-flammable airplane blankets and making music at the same time. Multitasker genre at it's finest
Only other thing like this I've seen was Th' Legendary Shack Shakers 2010 album Agridustrial. Totally different genre, but they make use of combine farm equipment for percussion in many tracks. Hog-eyed Man is a wild track.
FUCK YES ! Thank Housecore 🤘
Industrial music has always been made like this. Sound clips mainly from machinery, that's how it got it's name.
This is the heaviest form of industrial I have ever heard.
Keith Gomez Check out Terrorbird by him too, I have never in my life heard anything heavier than that song
Broken Archetype Indeed I shall!
You must've never explored Industrial then
For a similar vein, check out Godflesh. Less screaming, but similar effect.
These days industrial kinda sucks if "heavy" is what you are looking for; especially in the past 10 years its drifted into glitch and gasmask flavored oontz-oontz. Most of the heavy "industrial" bands like this came in through the gateway of doom metal.
Heard about this guy because he’s going to open for Cattle Decapitation, not what I expected but holy shit is this some intense industrial.
That bill looks crazy
Me too
He's a *fucking genius*
Jon Lego it was insane
Did you go to the show? I was at their Houston tour stop and it was amazing!
I love how even though it is mechanical and punishing it is still emotional and the human element remains in tact. a lot of acts like this forget the emotion part and i'm glad this has it.
number one issue with most music like this, definitely. ive heard so many excellent technicians and software users, but that human element can't be lost....
I don;t know if you're familiar with the track, you probably are, but just in case, check out Future Man. The lyrics... My god, the lyrics...
Hmmm... emotions? Where? This is as cold as stones in winter...
This guy is going to open for Tool going to be interesting
really?
Nathaniel Baker yeah for the last leg of the NA tour in January and the one show in February
I was going to suggest that. I didn't know it was really happening.
Giving Tool access to new sounds is ALWAYS a good idea.
Yeaaaaaa
Someone get him on DOOM ETERNAL!!
He should do a collaboration with mick Gordon!!!
@@panagiotisaeonargiriou9158 that would cause insanity, but would be fucking amazing.
And why would they ruin Doom Eternal with this utter shit when the last Doom had such a good soundtrack? Makes no sense.
@@bradleyj5942 your opinion. My opinion is that he would be an awesome collab with Mick Gordon, as already mentioned.
@@bradleyj5942 haha, i like how your opinion is really wrong
A new age of music is dawning and it's absolutely brutal . 🤘
Nebraskan Heathen definitely agreed and also.....big red represent!
Nebraskan Heathen brutal as in awful. Gotta play guitar or fuck off.
@@DaPoopIsInDaPudding ok boomer
EatAtTheDanglingDiner play a guitar or fuck off? From that statement I can tell you are either 11 or don’t play an instrument.
Ya right. Pop will hijack this innovation and we will have Jonas Bros clones ft Miley Cyrus and Billy Eilish doing Wham covers
I met this dude when we were both students at UCSD in the early to mid 2000s. I remember him as a super cool dude. I remember asking and he showed me the machines he was building in the music department he was working at I think and his pro tools lap top sessions with all the music and software he was using at the time…he’s come far since then, amazing!
the transition from pure dissonant brutality into that almost triumphant melody at the end is pure genius. what a legend.
Industrial metal visionary AUTHOR & PUNISHER delivers his sixth full-length recording and Relapse debut Beastland. Drawing inspiration from his career as a mechanical engineer, Tristan Shone (the creator and sole artist behind AUTHOR & PUNISHER) forged a relationship with design, sound, and fabrication that ultimately yielded his hand-built “Drone Machines” which mapped the journey away from traditional instrumentation towards custom made "precision machinery." A robotic experimentation in industrial metal, noise, doom and drone, AUTHOR & PUNISHER recalls Nine Inch Nails channeling Godflesh, traversing through dark, uncompromising, and often disturbing soundscapes with occasional detours into rich melodies and splinters of light. Armed with newly built “Drone Machines” and a new label, Beastland is AUTHOR & PUNISHER’s career-defining statement and a powerful listening experience that further blurs the line between man and machine.
Beastland was recorded at K Street in San Diego, CA and engineered by Tristan Shone & John Cota (Death Eyes). Additional recording was done in Las Cruces, NM with Jason Begin (vytear). The album is co-produced with Braden Diotte (Faust, EXO//ENDO, Neurosis, Tarantula Hawk), mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. Album art by Juha Arvid Helminen.
He's like the Wintergaten of industrial metal. 🤘😎🤘😍❤.
best name for this - Doom/drone Industrial
I'm glad to see that this guy's getting more attention. He's a worthy listen
he did not shoot this video. he created a monster robot, which created a camera made from steel fabrication equipment, which shot this video.
I saw him live and was just blown away! he produces a wall of sound that I would run against any multi member band to match! On top of that, he is a genuinely nice guy to talk to.
He looks like he's inside a SAW machine, I love it
The missing member of Godflesh...
He does seem like almost a spiritual successor to Godflesh.
I'd love to see a colab between the two
nice!
@@GODFLESH1207 Perfect for Roadburn!
Saw him opening for Godflesh yesterday, it was great!
Do not mess with engineers ! Look what you've done !
Impressive. It reminds me of the OST of DOOM by Mick Gordon.
Mick Gordon was SUPER influenced by shit like this when he wrote that! So awesome.
The Butcher Ha! You're right!
was he? does he talk about it somewhere? i know he digs meshuggah, but not much else
I don't think there's too much known about him.
Same lmao
every time I meet someone who says "I listen to everything", when asked what kind of music they like, I show this to them. they then stop saying that they like everything, In addition to getting totally freaked out by it.
It annoys me when people say they listen to everything! No. You don't.
@@jeffanderson1708 I've honestly yet to find a single genre that I wont listen to a few songs of, for sure have my favorite and least favorite genres
I usually show them Khlyst.
If you showed me this i would say i only listened to one thing from this point on.
Saw Phil Anselmo wearing Author & Punisher shirt. This is awesome.
Phil is his producer.
@@Anorexiaification Really??
Fuck
Yep. 2 of author & punisher albums were done with Housecore.
Phil *was* Tristan's producer but I guess he didn't quite feel very comfortable with Phil's "white wine" antics so he's since left him and his label.
Saw this dude last night opening for Cattle Decapitation. Sounds so badass live. Shook my soul with how heavy this was.
Seeing him tonight
Yeah, live hits your body like a wave. It's almost more kinesthetic than sonic.
Mick Gordon and this man should talk about doing a project together
BL00D H4ND omfg yes
l this ^^^
No mick gordan sucks
Author & Punisher + Mick Gordon + Cevin Key would be a dream come true imo.
Tristan Shone makes the music I have dreamed about and expected since I ever heard the term "Industrial Music" but never came to fruition and met expectation until now: actually making music with industrial equipment, performed live! Perfect fusion of man/machine, digital/analogue that speaks to the modern anxieties about our relationship with technology. He is a TITAN and so inspirational. A dark and gritty reboot of Burt the Chimney Sweep!
Same here! I always strove to make the heaviest form of industrial, but somehow I wasn't able to bridge the idea into reality ( in musical sense, not the idea of fabricating my own instrument). Before him, I thought Mick Gordon was the pinnacle of my vision, but no more. Tristan is by far.
The closest thing to pure "industrial metal" before this was Motograter
Me too! I always imagined Industrial Metal to be like this, but all examples were always disappointing. Until I discovered A&P!
Industrial metal is half assed indeed, you should all listen to power electronics, this is what you really want to hear
He's opening for TOOL on the 2020 leg of their tour, can't wait to see them both in Vegas.
The music of Adeptus Mechanicus
Wasn’t expecting this, completely grabbed my attention. Excellent artist and song!
Wow
This guy is one of the most brilliant musicians.
Now this is the type of Industrial that I've always wanted, fucking iron works and smelteries! Definitely one of the coolest musicians out there!
There's much more chaotic and angry electronic music out there
.....can't.....stop.....watching......
It's like someone told him Pressure Mine was too soft and it made him really mad.
I remember talking to him before a show some time back. He tends to switch between "soft", more subtle records like Women and Children/ Pressure Mine and heavy, bludgeoning records like Ursus Americanus/Melk en Honing. So if we're going off that pattern...
CZcams randomly recommends a video to me on how he designed and built his own instruments. This is the first song I played after I watched that video. Hooked already.
This is exactly how I found him. Can't believe I didn't know about him sooner.
2:19 Is it just me or does that sound kinda beautiful but crushing at the same time?
reminds me of like super melancholic house that has been suitably mangled, fucken powerful
Sounds like Com Truise
Gonna be seeing him in January. He’s opening up for TOOL 😈
Yeah we're on our way. This is gonna be interesting.
As a fellow industrial artist: I have so much respect for this guy.
Not gonna lie seeing him live is the best thing ever. For being a one man band he is very energetic.
He is one of the greatest ever live shows I've seen too ......then Tool comes out after him
Id should get this guy to do the next Doom OST.
When I look up industrial in the dictionary, it should only have 3 words.
AUTHOR & PUNISHER.
So glad Zardonic shouted you out. Dude knows quality music.
This dude is really unique and cool
☢ LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH ☢
- Videodrome - Leave the old flesh -
All Hail the New Flesh
Absolutely great work! you´re the only new industrial artist I did fell in love with in the last 10-15years. First one to create something really new again after so many copies of a copy. RESPECT!
He's got a pretty big body of work. You should check out his other albums.
Skies O'er still remains one of my fav A&P songs but check out ALL of his work. Great live performance too.
Thanks, yeah, know several of his works, but Nihil Strength hits me even more! Will see him next on tour after missing him the last two times....
check out lingua ignota
Kevin Jones: Same here, man! Love that song through life.
Posted in 2018, but the guy is still a decade ahead of everyone else.
This is so good! I’m even more stoked for the new album now!!
Yes.. been waiting for this. So good and such a great performer
Best and most original industrial act I'm aware of. First album The Painted Army still gets played monthly in my headphones. Thanks for keeping on putting stuff out Tristan, you deserve way more recognition.
Literally the most industrial and heavy electronic I’ve ever heard!! Such a technical genius!
So unbelievably good! I can't wait for this album!
This is some of his best work yet!!
For those wanting to listen to his albums, I recommend "Melk en Honig". It has no throw-away tracks, it's perfect from start to finish. Beastland is front-loaded in my opinion, the rest of the album after "The Speaker [...]" is usually left out by me. "Ursus Americanus" is great, though mostly Instrumental. The EPs "Pressure Mine" and "Women and Children" are a bit lighter, which is quite nice actually. Experimenting with a less metallic sound. The first album is good, but the best tracks are "Burrow Below" and "Doppler". But listen to all of it, he's an absolutely amazing artist.
This has left me floored and at a loss for words... I need to hear more
Literally a definition of "industrial music".
I came here out of curiousity as a Tool fan because he is going to be touring with them. He certainly is unique.
Just saw his performance on “Live with Kelly and Ryan”. Brilliant. Great cooking tips as well.
This is some of the best industrial I’ve heard in long, long time. I love it.
I saw him last night and was mind blown. With the sounds and the machinery, I was really hypnotized by it all. Hope to see him again in Chicago.
I like it when this kind of creepy "noise" contains melodic components :) Tristan Shone, thank you for your music!
This is pop music, but with some serious distorsion, once passed the "noise" of the first listen it's a pretty straight forward rock structure underneath
Wow...this is incredible...
Almost half a million views... good for you man!
I don't know why i'm just now hearing this... dope
This is sooo heavy 💪🏻
Oddly addictive!
loving this
This is a whole new level of brilliance
I'M STOKED! Killer!!!
ABSOLUTE KILLER!!!!
I only discovered this guy an hour ago. I'm completely blown away.
Man! Been four years since I first seen him live. He still has the magic in him.
Awesome. Didn't know he signed to Relapse!
PURE RAW ENERGY 👽🔮🌹🔮👽
Been looking for his work for a while now after a video of him explaining his instruments got recommended to me on youtube. I'm glad I found him again
Absolutely amazing!!!
Godflesh/NIN... and 100% devastating. I for one will be checking out all of his previous work.
Just saw him open for tool a few hours ago, awesome show. His music literally made my butthole vibrate. Now that's talent ladies and gentlemen. 👏👏🤘
Beautiful
Genius at work.
Hell yeah! I actually remember finding out about Tristan on a segment NPR did about Author and Punisher. Pretty weird for NPR but cool none the less. Keep at it homie!
Major Rager NPR and Vice are the only place left for weird journalists. No where else can afford them...
But whomever directs the music section of NPR has a good ear for unique stuff.
Better they keep their balls intact and show the world what obscure tastes are out there. This is how I came upon Botanist.
I... I might have to start listening to NPR.
Never thought I'd say that.
muy chingón.
Absolutely fascinating
This is hands down, the nastiest industrial song I've ever heard. One long, abrasive brown note. Hideously amazing.
This is some of the sickest shit I've heard in years.
This dude is a genius. We've been following him since 2012. This is both the past and the future that he has assembled for today.
Saw him open for 3Teeth at Exit/In in Nashville. One of my favorite parts of that whole show was watching him set up because he sound checked by pressing that slide-y lever thing above his keyboards you see at 0:46, and the fucking SOUND that came from the skyscraper fucking subwoofers he had onstage was unreal.
Yes. amazing!
this is how Skrillex thinks he sounds
Karl Chadwick LOL!
How? That joke would only be funny if they sounded similar but they don't. Skrillex doesn't make dark angry heavy music like this. Skrillex is just heavy. Which is fine. Skrillex doesn't exist here. Doesn't belong in this conversation or context. Might as well bring up nine inch nails or the prodigy.
@@HumanoidMachine ok, guy.
@@BearBronson ah, being patronizingly dismissive to mask an admission of defeat I see. Good call.
@@HumanoidMachine lol gay
This is pure audio perfection! This ticks all the fucking boxes for me! Dark, filthy, outright aggressive, distorted beauty! If anyone could point me in the direction of any other bands/musicians that sound like this, I would greatly appreciate it!
Genius and thank you
Such power and intensity.
Union or non-union man? Either way, he gets a 15 minute breAK.
When I'm pulling 405 for reps on a deadlift at 5am..... thank you for this.
Hahahaha! Definitely, man!
@@parasite-b9604 actually 415 now cause of this...lol. Hockey seaon is coming gotta keep pace with the big guys.
+aaron maxin dude, fair play to ya! If it works, it works! Cant argue with results! Best of luck to ya, buddy!
@@parasite-b9604 thank you! Any other suggestions for music let me know. I'll listen to anything
+aaron maxim you're welcome, dude! And music to work out to... Try Delta 9, No More Regrets. ;) That should get the adrenaline pumping... I'm a HUGE fan of bass and noise. :D
I love this sooo much!!!!
amazing!
Dear nine inch nails,
This is the sound we wanted with the new album
That is where the fans abandon him for A&P and other acts calling upon the aggression.
as a fan of Nine Inch Nails i can tell you this isn't the sound i wanted from the new album. this is what i wanted from Author and Punisher.
Nine inch nails isn’t like this. They never really have been. The only band I could compare this to is 3TEETH.
you've never heard Godflesh?
I never have, no. I'll look them up now.
да, блядь! вот такой индастриал и должен быть! чтобы мужики в цехе, станки, всякая непонятная побоень с ручками, металл вокруг!
Базаришь
Дело говоришь
Just great.
Awesome.
Make industrial metal great again !...ahem along w/3teeth
jake gyllenhaal why u so mad
Your best work yet, instantly fell in love with it
this is the coolest thing ive ever seen, his vocals are amazing
Ok David Guetta, unplug the flash drive and do it better
In a perfect world they'd switch places in popularity.
I'm tired of living in a world where sick and bad things make the most money, and are the most popular. Can't relate to most people.
If aphex twins had a bavy
I had a bavy with some gravy it was lovely
Just because of Come to Daddy? That was the only track Aphex Twin did that sounded like that
I'm obsessed with this song
Awesome!
