    Interesting. Safin was immensely talented, like Federer, and so he admires more what he lacked, hard work and discipline. Safin's remarks are very human and humble. Ya, I liked Safin as well. Who couldn't like him?

      I agree, I think that the same is true with John McEnroe. He, too, was really talented, but didn't have that physicality. So he likes Nadal for his physicality. However, besides his talent, Roger Federer has to work just as hard, but he does it without fanfaire. On court, too, he is not about the huge groans to show the effort and work he is putting into the game. He is total focus and concenetration, and he has courage, courage, an great fight.

    I'am a absolutly agree with marat that In Russia there are no conditions for professional tennis. There are no qualified trainers, tennis centers with courts are only in large cities. Rental of courts is very expensive, a middle-income family will never be able to afford to give their child tennis.

      The big majority of russians who made it to the pro level or top 100 had very rich parents, and most of them practiced in Spain since they were 13/14 yo. I know what I'm saying, I was roomate with Igor Andreev for more than a year in Valencia, Spain.

    Of course Nadal works hard and fights hard but it is also true that he has battled an incurable painful foot issue and still got to where he is. That is beyond admirable... respectable etc. It is also true that Rafa is naturally gifted in may other aspects of his life - his game as a result has a quality that no other tennis player has/ever had. His persona and his game have a different kind of beauty - which is why it is so easy to take sides with him than to the rest of the playing crowd. He definitely has a special sort of talent that Federer or Djoko dont have...

      If you took all the top players and didnt allow them to have ever practiced you would be surprised how many of them would beat Nadal. No one has put in anywhere near the hours of practice from a young age that Nadal has. It makes it hard to judge actually how talented he is compared tp the other players.

Until then, he played football (soccer) as much as tennis and finally chose the former To give you an example, Djokovic started at 4 and devoted solely to tennis from day one. Please get the facts first.

    I iiked Safin. I don't see his great admiration for Nadal. He has played Federer, and you know that he is far more talented than nadal. You could only say that if you admire the strongman, Nadal. But don't forget that Roger Federer is a true fighter, and has never used excuses, and so on.

    • @Bbuguy
      @Bbuguy Před 6 lety +23

      Well, he just wants to express how hard work to make impossible possible is purely much more respectable than simply utilizing talent, though Roger worked and fought hard too in fact.

    • @MLBoykin
      @MLBoykin Před 6 lety +13

      Do Safin and Nadal's records not speak for themselves with respect to who is more talented? Safin being "far more talented than Nadal" is beyond laughable. Federer being a fighter does not necessitate that Nadal is not, himself, a fighter, and vice versa. As for excuses, Safin suggested no such thing about either Nadal or Federer. You prefer one player over the other, and with these two it's hard for many to like one without necessarily disliking the other. Just remember our opinions are nothing more than that-opinions.

    • @goldwolf0606
      @goldwolf0606 Před 6 lety +8

      Michael Boykin Stop being salty. Safin admires Rafa more because Rafa has that will you must be born with, that will to not be denied. Roger was born to be good at tennis. He’s said before that he doesn’t work on his weaknesses. That’s a little arrogant even though he doesn’t have many weaknesses. Rafa works and works and works and works on his weaknesses and his strengths and makes good things come. Rafa was born with 1 gift, that will. I admire Rafa a lot more for the same reasons, even though I like Roger too. Now I like Safin for being team Rafa lol!!! VAMOS!!!

    • @goldwolf0606
      @goldwolf0606 Před 6 lety +10

      Michael Boykin it’s true, Safin is more talented. He’s naturally bigger. His strokes are cleaner. He just never put everything together. Probably because he didn’t put in the effort. Relied too much on his big cuts to win matches. He appreciates Rafa because In retrospect he probably thinks he could have done a lot more had he had Rafa’s will. He sees how Rafa was able to keep pushing 2005,2006,2007, every year getting better and finally passed Roger in 2008. Injured in 2009 and 2010 passes Roger again. Passed by Novak in 2011, injury in 2012, and works hard and passes Novak in 2013, injured in 2014 and works hards and passes everyone again in 2017. Rafa is amazing. Not naturally talented, but damn it’s fun to see him fight and get rewarded. That what we all want, to be compensated for our efforts. If you are a 99%er, you like Rafa. You are amazed at Roger for how easily it comes to him, but Rafa is the inspiration to the normal guy who dreams of prosperity and then goes Work for it in beliefs it will come to him too because of the effort put in.
