I'm 70 years old and recently came across Dax and have been trying to catch as many of the videos as possible just for the fact that they are impactful and damn well produced. As a girl who got kidnapped by 3 men and survived, this moved me. I can’t tell how much i love you and your music. Everyone in my family does. Much respect. Ptsd is not just refusing to let go off the past but the past refusing to let go off the person.

I love how real these songs are. I’m a psychotherapist that specializes in PTSD. We need more artists that are so willing to talk about the truths people are experiencing. The conversations need to be happening!

YES!! I spent the last 7 years of a 20 year marriage walking around a corner & getting punched straight in the face. POS (now ex) husband not only manipulated & brain fucked our 4 kids to think I was a psychopath but "cool dad" also got our 15 year old son & 22 year old daughter hooked on heroin with him. My reaction when I found out was actually "psychopathic" to some, but it was a REACTION. I snapped. Picked up 5 violent felonies for my reaction too. CPS took my son for a year. I did everything they wanted & got him back. Then, dad got involved & God apparently thought I was stronger that I was. 3 more years of even worse hell, TWO no-cause evictions, homelessness, 6'3" son (17 by then) punched me in the face. Just like dad used to... Tried to end it all twice. First time ended up chipping a few teeth cuz I was shaking so badly that my 9mm just thrashed around in my mouth. 2nd time just ended up with weeks of a fire throat & horrid coughs (hose from tailpipe to window apparently doesn't work anymore with newer trucks/cars).
My good friend flew to Vegas, where I had been sleeping in my truck with 2 dogs & guinea pig, so lost in my broken brain (that was the 2nd no-cause eviction) that I couldn't put 2 & 2 together to reach out for help.
BTW, I don't drink or use).
My family broke my brain.
3 months ago, close friend of mine had moved to the east coast 7 years ago. She flew to Vegas, helped me pack whatever would fit in the Uhaul trailer & we drove 4 days to Ohio.
I'm still broken. Total hot mess. 6 month wait list for a therapist. But not suicidal all day, every day anymore. Maybe a few times a week or so, but getting better.
The biggest problem with PTSD is that when you're in trauma mode, you are so overwhelmed that simple steps like calling a friend for help just doesn't occur to you. It was 115° in Vegas in that park! I used a/c, zoned out during the hottest part of the days & got my furbabies out on the cool grass at night. But basic survival was all I could do. I'm lucky that Shelley called ME, cuz I didn't even look at my phone then.
We need more therapists that educate themselves on PTSD therapy. I had a therapist for 5 years before I moved. It was ALL a waste of court ordered time cuz she didn't k ow HOW to fix me. Education is KEY!!
As a person that struggles with PTSD daily I want to say thanks for Bringing more light and attention to a mental illness that kills thousand on the daily
I was diagnosed with PTSD from being sexually assaulted at my government job. I’ve been gaslit by their system, abused and bullied. All over the almighty dollar. Then this comes up on my feed. This is the type of love and understanding that needs to happen everywhere. Instead the victims get victimized over and over again. All we want is to be heard. This makes me feel heard. PEACE

"I was walking home on a Sunday..." repeated over and over and over is exactly what PTSD is often like. The same section of memory can play itself repeatedly like a broken record, even though there was much more to what traumatized you. Sometimes it's hard to break out of the loop so that you can move on.
Deciding to be independent was the best decision Dax has made in terms of his music career. I've been following him since 2019 when I saw him perform in Dallas. I felt like he was being held back and not able to show his full potential when that label was involved. He speaks to us about his own journey with mental health, on such a relatable level. He shows the industry what true talent is capable of.

I remember I wrote a rap right after a traumatic event. Words just kept coming to my mind out of nowhere. Dax, your raps inspire me. Keep on being you.
Music has always been my outlet. If I were to ever suffer such terrible events to this extent, I’m sure I would write the best piece of music of all time. I always sing after anything traumatic, I always sing. I’ll hum a tune and the words will flow and if I can’t find any words I will create art! Let us all create art, let us spread word and vent our traumas, fears and worries into sound, so the deaf may shut their eyes for one day and the blind can finally see.
This made me cry. Thank you for making music that matters. You’re a gift. PTSD is a horrible and largely misunderstood condition. After leaving my abuser and being stalked and terrorized by him for months, I escaped but with a brain I couldn’t recognize as my own anymore. It made the world an even scarier place, because now I couldn’t even trust my own self or my reactions. It’s been a couple years and I’m healing but things can bring me back to the place in a flash, just like you show in the video. Praying for all those who suffer with this. There is hope and healing. God has helped me and I know he can help you too.

PTSD is a beast! I have had it for over 40 years (caused by severe childhood trauma). As the daughter of Pastors, I often asked my Mom how God could let these things happen? I ❤ your music! Hey Dax, I know you most likely will not see this, but thank you, this song reminds me of the nights of my first PTSD dream from my first car accident with my grandparents, this song inspired me to write my own song for PTSD.
This reminds me of when people say, "Life is hard, get over it." Not everyone experiences post-traumatic growth. 🙏Only God can truly judge your life choices. May God stay with that man's soul who was seeking him but met a wicked one struggling with his demons instead in the church.

The moment you truly realize the hidden scars that others carry, is perhaps a bit of wisdom.
PTSD occurs for many reasons in this world. And while not every experience is the same, some of the end results can often be quite congruent.
The moment you can potentially see those hidden scars in others, or allow them the level of trust(and respect, and loyalty) to speak openly about their traumas...you will instantly feel less alone in this world(and they will as well).
There are traditions in many religions, artistic endeavors and community based forms where grief is not endured alone. Grief is an aspect of a group as well as the individual.
If grief is one of the strongest emotions one can feel, then perhaps trust and/or love is the inverse. Because many people really do suffer silently, yet they are never truly alone.
They are human. We are human. I am human (or so I have been told lol).

As someone who has been depressed and abused as a child "I can't sleep because I don't what's inside me" is relatable because I kept trying to find who I truly wanted to be, Along with they all knew because the abusers all ways knew what was happening to my mental health and pretended to to be innocent and good people because they said they were christian and tried to make me look good so they can get away with it

Wow just wow! As a vet with TBI and PTSD. Between the headaches and depression, loneliness, anxiety and the frustration of it all. I do a lot of walking. The first time I heard Dax was with Tom MacDonald. I have listened to just about five of his songs in the last two days, more times than I can count. But I don't think I can watch this one again. Just a little too close for me. But man I love his music.
Years of dealing with trauma, this song really helped me cope through my dark feelings and memories, thank you Dax.
I gotta say, as a survivor of a mass shooting event, it triggered a lot of feelings. However, it also strongly depicted the feelings of coming out of that event unscathed. “Just walking home on a Sunday” for me is “just going to Kroger on a Thursday”. Very powerful.

As a former emt. This song hits harder than you can imagine. Ive seen it all from babies to elderly. Ptsd is when things go bad and you just hunker down for the worst everytime. It may not not call for it it but you just react even if its not needed that way.

I was recently diagnosed with CPTSD from childhood trauma and I still suffer now. I’m in therapy getting help now, but waiting to get out of the toxic household my hubby and I are in. My inner child won’t heal until I’m in a safe place. This song moved me. I appreciate your music.

That's exactly how PTSD feels. I don't know how you do it, once again. Amazing. “GOD I WANNA KNOW WHY YOU WOULD EVEN LET THAT MAN ON EEEAAARRTTHHH!” I still have a lot to work through apparently. And you are helping me see just what more clearly. I knew, but now I KNOW. I felt it. My kids’ father tried to kill me once. He threatened murder, suicide between me, our six children, and himself. In the end, he took his own life. I was with him for 14 years. I finally left him after it got to that point. He was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Narcissistic Personality Disorder (after the divorce). I don't know if he knew he was sick, but I thank God every day we are all still here, surviving. Picking up the pieces slowly but surely. “Left foot, right foot, keep walking. Don't look back your past is haunting…”
