LIVE DISCUSSION: Nebraska Supreme Court abortion decision

Jacqueline Fernandez speaks with Nebraska Senator Merve Riepe about today's Supreme Court decision regarding LB574, which banned abortions after 12 weeks and prohibited gender-affirming care for minors.
The case, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland v. Hilgers, went before the state’s high court back in March. The Nebraska Legislature combined LB574 and LB626 into one bill. The issue brought to the court was whether it violated the state constitution, which requires a bill to involve one subject. In order for the law to be struck down, the plaintiff in the case needed a supermajority - five of the seven justices.
In its conclusion, the court said it found “no merit to Planned Parenthood’s argument that L.B. 574 contains more than one subject.”
