  • Welcome back Walkies, this is my last video for my Walking in Japan series this year. I'm excited to share with you my experience in Zao Onsen in the Yamagata Prefecture. Zao Onsen is the largest ski resort in the Tohoku Region. It is home to the Snow Monsters or Juhyo, the frost-covered trees that a large number of visitors every winter. When we were planning our trip, this was one of the places we could not skip. From seeing the town to riding the ropeway until we finally saw the magnificent snow monsters, it was such an amazing experience. Hope you enjoy the video! :)

    From the walk along the streets to finally reaching your desired destination, it was simply amazing. That long queue was worth the wait to see the snow monsters. It felt eerily surreal even watching from the comfort of my chair. The commentary was much appreciated. Thank you for taking me to Japan and showing me the sights! 🙏😊

    The snow covered mountain was beautiful. It looked much better than Whistler this past season which was pitiful. Do they ski up at the top? Love the fog and mist. Hope no one got lost. Enjoyed your video thank you.

      yes absolutely beautiful! the snow, slight blizzard, fog, mist all of it was dreamy. yep people ski too even though the gust was strong that day. those people were tough! thank you! always a pleasure

    Hello, how long is the queue? And can you share the day if is it weekend or weekday? Do you think this is suitable for kids? Thank you

      Hey David. The queue + cable car ride up to the observatory was probably over 1.5 hours. To be fair, we went there on a public holiday Sunday so there were lots if tourists. Yep, this is suitable for kids, skiiing or not. hope that helps :)
