I got the flip 4 for Christmas and it’s INSANE I could go a block away and still hear it.
Short answer to "should you upgrade?" - Only if you want slightly lower frequency response, an extra 2 hour battery life and full waterproof-ness.
if you want bass charge 3 is way better
But that's also about 30 dollars more expensive.
Flip 3 has low bass. Flip 4 is way better !! Trust me ! I tested those 2 with a bass test and the flip 3 barely makes bass while the flip 4 is putting real BASS.

Did you also experience the 1st dot of the battery lasts long then after that the remaining 4 drains faster?. Also, when I charge my flip 4 the first 4 dots charges faster like it will only take less than an hour or an hour let say. Then the last 5th dot charges like over an hour. Is this normal? I just bought this yesterday.

One other smallish change is that Flip 4 has been designed to be stable when sitting on its side. Subtle, but good I think.

I agree, had a Pulse 2 and didn't like the vertical only design, nice to have the horizontal option in Flip 4 with proper stereo sound.

Can somebody PLEASE plug in an ELECTRIC GUITAR into the AUX of this speaker...and tell me if there's any LAG (due to a-d conversion) at all. in my experience the mi speaker lagged badly..while the jbl micro wireless and the oontz angle/plus never did. I want to get a more "serious" speaker for listening and as an addition to my PORTABLE RIG...thanks a

I'm a little confused and granted I'm not listening to this video with headphones but when you played the test tones I could hear the 70hz tone from the flip 3 and not the flip 4. Wouldn't it be the opposite if the flip 4 has lower frequency response?
I'm looking to get few of this jbl speakers to connect to my TV and us as surround sound, can I connect all 3 of jbl speakers to my tv via bluetooth?

I thought that my Flip 3 was Flip 4. So I bought a Flip 4 in hopes of connecting the speakers but I can't seem to do it. Is there a way you can connect them or use them both at the same time??
The extra battery life is due to BT 4.2 (upgraded from BT 4.1). The incremental numbering difference makes the upgrade seem insignificant, but BT 4.2 is far better in many significant ways than BT 4.1.

Got my Flip 4 yesterday and rocked a few rooms with music I know and trust. Could use a bit more bass but I am very pleased. Equalizers are available.
I listened to waves crashing onto beaches last night to fall to sleep. Best sleep ever.

Hey, nice comparison ! I have a question about Flip 4 maybe you can help, do this speaker has a mic ? I want to use it connected to my Echo Dot but I need to be able to also pickup calls, etc with the Flip, will that work ? I'm gonna be far away from my Echo, cannot shout the commands so I want the speaker to have a MIC. Tx !
+Martin Claudio Cota the speaker has a mic which it uses for hands free calling. But I can't guarantee that the echo dot will utilize it mic at all.

It's funny that I've known JBL for a long time and even had a JBL car subwoofer back in 2002. Now all of a sudden JBL is a urban hipster brand lol.
Jbl have been making car stereos and headphones for years though and those used to be the urban hipter thing but nowdays its as common as smartphones and lost that preconception.. Just like bluetooth speakers

What is the range of the flip 4!!!!??? There are so many of these videos showcasing and reviewing the speakers but there is no information of how far away you can be from the speaker before losing connection and if you can be in another room and still have the music playing!!!! I have an issue with mine that 8-10 ft away it starts cutting out and if I put a wall between my speaker and the device it completely cuts out!!!!! My Extreme model 1 doesn’t do this and I can be quite far from it and rooms between it and it won’t cut out!!! At first I thought it was because I have an iPhone 6 Plus and it’s old but I tested it with my brother’s iPhone XR and it does the same!!!!! I NEED HELP AND ANSWERS!!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😰
Flip 4 is running Bluetooth 4.2 which is rated for no less than 33ft. I think your speaker is having some kind of issue if it's that bad, but I have no idea what the issue is.
DLX Willington 😭😭😭😭 well that’s what I get for purchasing used but for what I use it for is just to enhance my laptop audio and I always use a 3.5 mm cable but I do like to use the BT at times. Thank very much for the answer my friend!!!! 😁

My flip essential does a solid 70hz and a weaker 65hz as the flip 4, and it’s advertised to 80hz minimum, how come?
Passive radiator is only tuned to go down to 80hz.
@@legendaryblood1937 still like that I can hear the 70hz in this video with my flip Essential (and the clear difference between these 2 speakers in that frequency at 2:51)
@@jcmolero71 I'm guessing it's only a higher octave , I also have Flip 3 but Stealth edition which is advertised as a 80hz - 20khz freq range but it reaches down to 70hz from what I've thought before but When I bought the Xtreme 2 which is advertised as 55hz .. from there I can only say that the 70hz from the Flip 3 seems fake and also not even audible when listening to normal music.
