- Morcote is for many the most beautiful village in Switzerland by far. This is no surprise! Wonderful location on Lake Lugano, amazing architecture, a long lakefront with many restaurants that have terraces, a church up high on the hill (400 steps) and so much more make this Swiss village a great experience on your Swiss trip. As a former fishing village it is picturesque and life is relaxed. If that all is not enough, you can visit Parco Scherrer, a magical botanical garden.

Glad you enjoy it! To hike to the church it takes about 10 mins if youre quick. If you enjoy 30 mins 😊 but consider you need to almost walk to the end of the village before you take the steps to go up!
