Love Nasturtiums. They remind me of my childhood. My grandpa would grow them as a ground cover, along the side of his house, next to his garden and plum tree. Originally from Washington state, I think they might be a perennial out west. I grow them as an unnual in Michigan. Super easy from seed.

Good to see you back, Jolene. With your classic opening where you lock your dog out similar to another video where your large hanging pot just felt and hit your head when doing an intro. Love your new design planter and that beautiful shot of a surprise butterfly visit That shot would be a stunning promo video for your planter. I noticed you have fewer plants now, shall wait for your part 2. I remembered it was a jungle.

Hi Jolene, I love your new place, you're doing a great job at being a minimalist, and plant hoarder at the same time, lol! I just have a lot of plants in my 800 square foot home, and I am not a minimalist, even though I try, I am a lot older and have many things I have collected over the years as well as a lot of my parents things after they passed away. I basically live in a mini jungle, and have a sign that reads "come bungle in my jungle". I am working on getting a sun room built and it will have the bigger plants out there and I will have my back porch with a new south facing window that I can place all of my succulents in front of. I am also working on painting the walls a bright white so that will bounce a lot of light around the room. I am looking forward to part two of your plant tour, this part one was so much fun. i love how the plant community is one of the more pretentious communities because most plant parents know the common/scientific names of their plants, the genus, if it's been reclassified, etc etc, but somehow it's also one of the most accepting communities to people who want to join it :)

Orchids can bloom for as long as six months! To get an orchid to rebloom you I have to have a drop in temperature 5 to 10 degrees at night. So usually they bloom in the home in the winter because they're usually close to a window so it gets a little colder at Night. My orchids that don't bloom orsetto bloom spike in the winter 10 to set up Bloom Spike on the air conditioning comes on and they're near the air conditioning vent. I have about 60 orchids because I see a beautiful One In Bloom and the big-box stores and I have to take it home especially if it's one I don't have! I found out the little minis love it if you take them out of that tiny part of sphagnum moss and leave a little sphagnum Moss around the roots Loosely around the roots and then but the men a little wire basket or something with holes in it like maybe a votive light kind of thing but anyhow you line the little wire basket with coco fiber but the little orchid in the Middle with some Moss around the roots and then fill in the rest with orchid bark. The Orchid Roots can even grow through the orchid bark and my Minis after I repot them have Bloom two or three times a year

Never thought I'd be a plant hoarder, but it seems everything I start to obsess over, I quickly become a hoarder. Minimalist is just not in my genes and that's okay. I'm also a Gemini and consider it to be a blessing since having different perspectives help me be balanced. Ignorant question bc I'm just getting into plants- what is the significance of these plants and why is it so expensive? Rarity, imported, beauty, in demand? I just bought my first Tradescantia Nanouk yesterday.
Hi Gemini sister! Congrats on getting your first Nanouk! I lost my mind when I saw one at Micky's, and of course, I bought it, haha. I think the insane price right now is really just supply and demand. Rare plants are mostly slow-growing, and local growers all have limited supply. With imports, there are so many risks, so the average cost of the imported plants is not that cheap after all.

@@JoleneFoliage It's not a plant 😊 It's millions of small organisms that eat the larv of the fungus gnats. You mix it with water and give all your plants are the gnats are gone within 2 weeks 😊

Can you give more detail on the cinnamon ? Do you sprinkle it on soil or insert a cinnamon stick ??
Shana Huffman I haven’t personally tried it (yet! Haven’t had a terrible problem with gnats) but I hear sprinkling some cinnamon on top of the soil kills the larva. Pure cinnamon can work too.

I actually gave away and sold many plants when I moved, I figured it was a good time to purge the plants I didn’t enjoy (A few Alocasia, peace lily, rubber plants, etc) and buy some new ones that I enjoy😊 Stay tuned for part II bedroom tour 💚
