- Are you new in helicopter flight simulation or are you struggling to improve your skills? In this webinar I go through everything you need to know to get started. Topics such as software, hardware, setting, establishing training routines are covered and a demo, showing you how to start by taking off and landing in X-Plane using the freeware B429.

While doing some early Spring-cleaning, this video was mistakenly removed. Here it is once again for those that hadn't watched before or would like to come back for future reference. I hope you enjoy it.
This video fits perfect to me! I'm a life long simmer but absolutely new to helis. You gave me all the information I wanted in a single shot with a professional level class. Thank you so much!
I am thrilled that it helped you. Thank you very much for watching and for your kind words.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I'm a beginner and I learned much things!
I'm so happy to hear that it helped you! Thank you very much for watching!
This was a very good introduction to the helicopter. I appreciate your time. -thanks
Thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed and I hope it helped you.
This is a great stream with a lot of good info. Thanks so much for doing this.
It's great to know you enjoyed it and that it was helpful to you! Thank you for watching and the kind feedback!
Flying A Helicopter in A Simmons is harder then Flying the real Thing.
Great advise & video. Not quite sure how DCS is free though, I know old comments but as far as I can tell for a helicopter you have to pay quite a lot, early days so perhaps I'm mistaken
It's not free for helicopters, no. Unless you get a mod. There's a nice Black Hawk out there!
I am a former reallife Glasair II-S RG pilot and miss my stick. As I want to get into Heli’s on my X-Plane 12 where I primarily fly fixed-wing wth a yoke, I would like to take this opportinity to replace the yoke with a heli stick that can do BOTH. That’s an additional factor in the discussion
All regular joysticks can do both. In fact, the joystick shown is a fixed-wing stick that can be used for helicopters. That's the point, really: you can use a regular stick, made for fixed-wing, if you can't afford dedicated hardware.
@@HeliSimmer how would you do the collective? Would the Logitech rhino g x56 do it?
@@Glasairman Yes! I have used it's ancestor, the Saitek X45 for quite a few years. What I did was I inverted the throttle axis to give it a bit more of feeling that I was pulling the collective up! And I even used the thumb knob as the throttle! It's not perfect, but it works!
Just got the Cowan 500 and its like a crazykaren! The cabri is good but my 500 IS off the wall....this video will help I hope!😅😅😅😅
Time to practice, practice, practice!!!
Show me MSFS 2020 profile for Airland FS UH1. Can not get it to fly. I am a certified rotary instructor. 🦄👨✈️
I'm using the same profile I use on all AirlandFS helicopters:
Realism: 100%
Pedals Sensitivity: 0
Cyclic Sensitivity: 0
Spring Pedals Relax: Off
Spring Cyclic Relax: Off
That's how I use it for all helicopters. Do keep in mind controllers may have an influence and while it is possible to use a regular joystick, it will be harder than using dedicated hardware or a joystick with no spring.
Why don't people start sim flight clubs up like model aircraft clubs. Then people could pay and learn to fly sim helicopter and planes in vr headset or gaming pc or laptops Where experiences people teach others at a cost to fly.
There are some companies that do that.
