    I think you kind of miss some aspects of the republic and CIS, the scale of engagement in the clone wars, as well as the doctrine and deployment of troops were much stronger than the empire. The republic and CIS could work in combined arms invasion of more planets than the empire could handle. Even if the ground forces of the empire were much better than the clone and droid forces, wave after wave after wave of infantry, highly mobile troops in drop ships, and much more mecanized troops would be overwhelming.
    That isnt even counting the CIS fighting in conjunction. The CIS could keep up an attack perpetually for weeks, never losing momentum, never sleeping, losses would mean nothing to a combination of clones and droids, and every casualty in the empire would be several times as bad as for the prequel factions. The empire is likely to suffer morale failure, each individual trooper would be out numbered severely, both clones and droids would never surrender, but troopers would rather surrender than try and hold on under overwhelming attack.
    In the end the empire's focus on large expensive assets could be their downfall, both the republic and CIS could attack these targets suicidally and unconventionally.
    The prequel forces would be able to keep up a war for longer than the empire, which would have to resort to mass conscription.

      The CIS would have the Malevolence protecting Geonosis, which is superior to most Imperial starships. Also the CIS and Republic both had inferior capital ships, but way better star-fighters. Lets not forget the 2nd best star-fighter ever (Umbara Starfighter) was either on the side of the Republic or Confederacy (depending on which part of the prequal era you're in). • @RKNGL
    @RKNGL Před 6 lety +630

    I Strongly Disagree.
    On the ground both the CIS and Empire Relay on Mass Assault Human Wave Tactics, both using low quality infantry. However the CIS has a significant advantage for 2 reasons they can produce trillions of droids and they have a focus on mixed unit military this is a contrast when compared to the Empire's nearly exclusive use of Stormtroopers. The Empire's army would go through complete hell trying to win any ground battles, let those be defensive, offensive, or re-conquest operations. Stormtroopers would get absolutely shredded by Clones under the command of Jedis and couldn't face the CIS pound for pound on Mass Assaults.
    In space combat our opinions differ massively on the Empire, if it were only capital ships the Empire could win. But the main issue is the Empire's sheer inability to fight strike craft. The Republic uses nearly exclusively carrier vessels in the form of the Venator, the Republic's whole space doctrine seems to be oriented around the strike craft winning the battle for them, yet again a direct counter to the Empire. Not to mention that the CIS is no slouch when considering strike craft droids, hell with such little point defense on the Empire side I can only imagine the damage sabotage droids similar to the Buzz Droids could do to the Empire's capital ships.
    I would actually argue the Death Star 2 is more of a crutch then a straight advantage, a crutch that is waiting to be knocked out from under them. With the Death Star 2 requiring massive resources to guard as well as the fact that it can only be at one system on a sprawling front. It would likely continue its waste of resource status, meanwhile under-guarded imperial systems are captured due to the Fleets Required to escort and reinforce the Death Star 2 in case of attack. This doesn't even account for something you even mentioned in your "5 Ways to Destroy the Death Star Without Its Plans" video, that Special Forces and Jedi would be the best to infiltrate and cripple the Death Star. That the facility's ungainly size makes it an easy target. Well it just so happens Jedi are in overabundance in the Republic supported by the best Special Forces in Legends and Canon.
    This doesn't even take into account that the Empire Politically is a horror show of over-extension, riddled with corruption in every aspect of government especially the military. I think the Empire would lose battle after battle. I give this handedly to the Prequels.

Also the empire has access to ion missiles used by the rebels that the republic hasn't developed yet. If they full attack with tie bombers the republic fighters will be forced to defend similar to a clone wars ep where Ahsoka uses the fighters to attack and loses the battle. The rebels usually didn't have capitol ships to protect and surprise advantage which caused the weakness in the empires ships. Also consider how long tie fighters last against x-wings which are better then anything the republic has besides jedi.

    Why the Republic + CIS would make a great duo: TheCIS has Commando Droids, Droidekas, etc. The Republic has Clone Commandos, ARC Troopers, etc. The Grand Army of the Republic includes their Jedi Generals and the CIS includes General Grievous, aka guy who has four lightsabers that he collected from dead Jedi.
    The Rebels + Empire would make a bad duo, seeing that the Rebels do not have enough firepower to even win against the Empire. Even though the Empire has a Death Star, they will still make a bad duo. The Empire has Stormtroopers, Death Troopers and Purge Troopers. I do not know what the Rebels have as their elite. The Empire and the Rebels have limited men. The CIS and the Republic have limited men but the Republic uses Clones and the CIS uses Droids.
    If all four factions were to fight each other, the CIS and the Republic have the upper hand because they had better armour, firearms and equipment, I think. Both the Rebels and the Empire will be defeated due to the Rebel's lack of good firearms. The Empire, however, is the next Republic but with their army is made from humans. Clonetroopers are better because they are, well, clones. They have the same genetics. They can aim better, unlike Stormtroopers.

      On the ground sure, the problem is the reverse is true in space.
      The Rebel fleet, both capital and starfighter, help provide cover for the Imperial fleet's weaknesses while the Imperial Navy can provide bulk firepower like nobody else and even the Rebel fleet capital ships are a step up in firepower.
      By comparison both the Venator and Providence sacrifice a fair bit for carrying strike craft, strike craft that are going to have a hard time being able to overwhelm their enemy if there's a reasonable Rebel contingent and next to any capital ship fight in the Clone Wars they just don't have the time for a prolonged strike craft engagement to play out as their capital ships are getting bulldozed by Imperial Star Destroyers.
      I think the only thing that could really save the Republic+CIS is if the Imperials are too arrogant and pig-headed to appreciate the assets provided by the Rebels and how they might be useful when facing such strike craft heavy fleets. While this is on point for Imperials behavior wise it ends up with the matchup leaning very hard on 'X will win because Y will be dumb' instead of a broader assessment of capabilities.

      @@AmurTiger i would have to disagree with you, the rebel pilots are blatantly worse than the Clone AND Droid fighter AIs, they are better than the Imperial fighters but the bar was so low that its basically irrelevent to even count the imperial fighters at all.
      As far as capitol ships go the Rebellions ships are decent but dont have the compliment of skill and tactics to fight a head-on war and their hit and run tactics that worked well on the lumbering fleet of the empire wouldnt fare as well on the CIS or Republic. The Imperial navy has high firepower but their ships were designed with no utility in mind and lack strong fighter screening which would lose them most battles with the Republic or the CIS whom both relied heavily on fighter/bomber support as their damage output and would be fielding at least twice as many better fighters with far mor skilled pilots than the imperial navy has. Sure tge Empire loves their superships but they cannot massproduce them so we cannot claim that they are gamechangers.
      Furthermore the technology difference that Eck argues in the video would be unreasonable to reference as the CIS and Republic would also be doing research as the war goes on, and as we saw in wwII having lots of science stuffs doesnt guarentee you to win.

    I feel as if the Republic and CIS would win. The CIS is well funded, and could simply make any battle droid/fighter/ship to match the Imperials might. Not to mention that the Republic's troops were extremely well trained and that they have Jedi on their side, and the CIS troops were produced an insane rate! The Rebels are weak, and wouldn't stand a chance against the CIS and GAR (Galactic Army of the Republic) combined, no matter how thick their plot armor is. That would leave the Empire with all of the actual, serious combat -- Which they'd lose every time on the ground.
    As for space, the malevolence cruisers could easily shoot that EMP majig and disable the Death Star. The GAR's and CIS's fighters were no doubt better than the Imperials and Rebels -- Quality. (Yes, I am aware that the Rebellion and Imperials had some vehicles of the CIS and GAR, like the juggernaut and Y-Wing, but mainly kept to their own creations.) True, the Imperial's war ships are greater than the GAR'S and CIS's, but it's no match for the Malevolence and the combined factions fighters. Not to mention the Jedi could easily pull a Lukey Pookie and fire a proton torpedo into the Death Stars core.
    I'd say the CIS and GAR would win. Not easily, but they'd win. (Easily would be on the ground ;) )

    • @razgriz9146
      @razgriz9146 Před rokem

      Not even close. The Separatist military was literally nothing more than a hodgepodge of hastily-converted merchant ships, anti-piracy vessels, exploration vessels and battle droids that were designed purely for bullying weak, impoverished and entirely defenseless worlds that couldn't possibly stick up for themselves. The only reason as to why they were even remotely a threat to the Republic is because the Republic had been completely demilitarized for over 1,000 YEARS and literally had to scrape together a standing military force out of virtually nothing.
      Outside of the Malevolence and Droid Commandos, the Separatist Alliance never once actually developed anything all that special or particularly innovative.
      The entire strength of the Grand Army of the Republic at its absolute height during the Clone Wars amounted to at most 6 million Fett Clone Troopers (and no, units means individual Fett Clone Troopers, so unless you can prove otherwise, don't even bother trying to haggle over what it means). The Imperial Stormtrooper Corps alone easily fielded BILLIONS of Imperial Stormtroopers, all of whom were just as skilled if not even more skilled than the Fett Clone Troopers ever were, whereas the Imperial Army itself casually fielded TENS OF TRILLIONS of troops.
      By virtue of raw numbers alone, the Grand Army of the Republic gets effortlessly crushed hard. As for the Jedi Order, the First Battle of Geonosis more than proves that they're nowhere near as much of an advantage as everybody makes them out to be. Hundreds of Jedi were very easily overwhelmed by mere swarms of battle droids and would've been wiped out completely if hadn't been for the Grand Army of the Republic swooping in to save them. In other words, the Galactic Empire, with its nigh infinite army/pool of manpower, Darth Vader, the Hands of the Emperor, the Inquisitorius (the Expanded Universe version), the Prophets of the Dark Side, the Dark Side Elite and Darth Sidious himself at their disposal, should have no problems dealing of them.
      Except that battle droids were literally just expendable kneecappers that relied entirely on overwhelming numbers and were only really useful for picking on those that couldn't defend themselves. Even taking into account Droidekas, Super Battle Droids, IG-100 Magnaguards and Droid Commandos, the bottom line is that they only made up an absolute minority of the Separatist Droid Army (nearly all of which is made up of comically useless B1-series Battle Droids) and therefore wouldn't be particularly decisive in a fight with the likes of the Galactic Empire.
      Furthermore, if one examines the Battle of Praesitlyn (where a mere force of 20,000 Fett Clone and 1 Jedi defeated a massive Separatist force of 1,000,000 battle droids despite being hilariously outnumbered by a margin of 50-to-1), then it isn't so hard to believe that Imperial Stormtroopers (who, again, were just as good if not even better than their Republic predecessors) with the assistance of Darth Vader and all of the other Dark Siders at the Galactic Empire's disposal could defeat the Separatist Droid Army without any serious trouble.
      None of that really matters because the Galactic Empire can very easily just nope all of that out of existence with the Galaxy Gun and the Sun Crusher. The Galaxy Gun blows the Malevolence out of existence (very possibly killing General Grievous in the process, therefore throwing the entire Separatist Droid Army into chaos in the process) followed by destroying Kamino (the only source of effective Fett Clone Troopers and the very beating heart and soul of the entire Republic war effort), Geonosis, Coruscant, Serenno (very possibly killing Count Dooku himself, an act that would trigger the near-immediate total collapse of the entire Separatist Alliance in a single swift and decisive stroke) and many other targets all while the Sun Crusher (a literally nigh-indestructible starfighter that's equipped with resonance torpedoes that are powerful enough to trigger super novae) can casually wipe out entire Republic and Separatist fleets without so much as breaking a sweat.
      And those are just 2 of the Galactic Empire's superweapons. If I throw in everything else that the Galactic Empire built then this war wouldn't even last a day. As for starfighters, you very obviously haven't heard of the TIE Defender, the TIE Phantom, the TIE Avenger, the TIE Hunter, the TIE Predator, etc., etc.. All of which decisively outclass everything that the Republic and the Separatists ever fielded. And in the hands of the likes of Baron Soontir Fel, Maarek Stele and Darth Vader himself, they'd effortlessly steamroll anything that comes across their path.
      In conclusion, you're absolutely sleeping on the Galactic Empire and are completely wrong regarding just about anything.

Tactics, armament, adaptability, etc, along with good soldiers, result in a deadly military force. The clones were programmed from birth, trained with the best technology and commanders, and were meant for only one thing, to fight. They also had strong and superior weapons to their foes (The droids), not to mention the vast types of ground vehicles, and a large fleet of venator class destroyers. Going back to their training, they probably had the best training out of every single faction. I’m pretty sure they’d beat each faction without a doubt.

    The only real threats are the Super Star Destroyers and the Death Star, though plans for the Death Star started during the clone wars so I’d give the CIS & Republic excellent chances of finding a weakness to exploit or even creating their own Death Star.

The Republic plus CIS would win because the Empire is just an empty shell. Looks impressive but lasted a mere 40 years. With Palpatine loyal to the Republic and working for victory with the Jedi and the CIS yup the Empire rebels would lose. Also the CIS could simply send wave after wave of Battledroids in a mass bonzai while the republic also begins to prepare it’s soldiers. Also, the Malevolence outclassed many imperial ships, and the empire isn’t really meant for all out war. Also they lost the death star to a few fucking rebel ships. You forgot that in large scale ground battle. As shown in the battle in geonosis, that the cis can keep producing and spamming troops in little to no time especially since no trading is required. The rebel alliance is rather small and recruited normal people who wanted to fight against the empire. Similarly the empire recruited people at academies, this started when the clones started faltering after order 66. Finally the republic, as claimed in episode 2, same movie as the battle of geonosis, it took half the time to grow and train units with complete efficiency. in addition It is implied that the republic and CIS had ships designed for war, whilst the empire had ships designed to strike fear. for example venators and providences have troop carrying capabilities, carrier abilities, command ship abilities and anti capital abilities, ISDs are purely anti capital, with limited and poor quality fighters on board. they also are proven to have terrible anti fighter weaponry whilst CIS ships at least have very good capability (Phantom menace lucrehulk to OP)

This is where the rebels would have shined, but both the republic and CIS could not be underestimated on their ability to gather info, just with the sheer amount of force sensitives, that combined with the more advanced tactics being performed on both sides near the end of the clone wars I think the republic/CIS could begin waging a very successful war against imperial super weapons. While the rebel alliance would prove effective at gaining info there really isn’t much to be gained in comparison to what the prequels would gain, the empire learns of kamino and one big factory on geonosis, there are many other factories, the republic and CIS find out how to reliably destroy or take superstar destroyers and Death Stars, that’s big. This isn’t even talking about moral battles that the empire has already proven to not be able to handle

Combined with the complete lack of point defense and decent star fighters, their “massive capital ship advantage” is going to be pretty big disadvantage. Imagine squads of heavily armed ARC 170s and Y wings ,escorted by some V-19s to draw fire away from them, jumping out of hyperspace rebel style doing a bombing run over the bridge instantly destroying any imperial vessel. Combined with the EXPOSED REACTOR of the Death Star 2 that probably only needs a few thousand droid starfigters to do a suicide run to knock it out, I don’t see how the empire is holding out. Sure they might overwhelm them at first with their advanced capital ships but it’s gonna take them no time at all to realize that all of the imperial assets are FILLED with weakness.

    The Mon Cala were also really intelligent leaders as well, with Ackbar leading the assault against the 2nd Death Star, and looking back at the Battle of Scariff with Raddus, where the rebellion dealt a very heavy blow to the Empire however suffered heavy casualties.
    I think the rebellion might be stronger in space than you think they are, perhaps they're not the strongest but they definitely deserve some credit where it's due.

    • @MrDeathShotz
      @MrDeathShotz Před 4 lety +3

      The Rebels were much more well rounded than the Empire was.
      The difference between the two is that the Rebels had decent capital ships from Mon Cala, good cruisers and lightships, and strong fighters while the Empire heavily relied on its amazing capital ships like the Imperial Star Destroyer and Super Stary Destroyer. The Death Star is pretty useless when fighting an all-out galactic conflict considering it is more of a show of force than an efficient ship/base. It would take too long for it to reach a conflict in another system and would have to be escorted by a large fleet which would draw much of the Empire's forces away from any conflict.
      The Republic had the weaker capital ships and cruisers but had incredible fighter craft that could be wielded in large numbers. The focus of the Republic navy seemed to be on having superior fighters as the CIS could field 10 times as many as they could, not to mention that there were thousands of Jedi at this time who could potentially pilot and lead the assault. The CIS would form the backbone of the prequel navy as they have (estimated based on material) over 10,000 ships, many of which were part of small planetary garrisons. Just in the battle of Duro in the Clone Wars, Grievous had rallied two of the three largest CIS fleets and had an armada of over 6,000 ships that sieged down much of the Core. The Separatists ships not only outnumbered the Republic's fleet by a wide margin, but their capital ships, cruisers, and destroyers were all superior when it came to firepower and design. The CIS starfighters were also abundant and featured highly intelligent AI and were nearly on par with Jedi pilots.
      Not to mention the great number of Republic and CIS admirals and heroes who would fight against a group of much smaller tacticians.
      I think that the Prequel navy would easily destroy the OT's combined forces, though this is mostly thanks to the CIS's strong screening ships and the combination of good starfighters from both factions as well as the lack of heroes that the OT would have when compared to the Prequels.

And In space Imperial leaders (not counting Thrawn) would be no mach for extremely skilled strategists like Anakin, Obi Wan, and Grievous. Plus, most rebellion fighters were based off of Republic starships. So we know that Republic (and I would argue Vulture droids and Tri fighters) would be VERY effective against Star Destroyers. If we take all four entities exactly as they were with all leaders included its thousands of jedi including yoda, anakin, obi-wan, and mace windu plus count dooku and palpatine in his prime vs darth vader, emperor palpatine and luke. (plus other leaders but I'm mainly doing force sensitive people) Plus the republic and CiS had been at war for years and as a result had battle hardened armies, and massive ones at that. I mean just look at the space battle around Coruscant at the beginning of episode 3. I know the empire is a large entity but the majority of their forces were normal humans and whatnot who mainly had to keep the peace and were not battle tested clones.

The fighters of the rebels and the empire would be a problem for the republic and cis, but one that they could get rid of, seeing the sheer amount of vulture droids, and the skilled republic pilots. Once they get rid of them, they could easily bomb the empires big capital ships, and take out the rebel ships after that with the power of the republic and cis navy.

  • @dapperhk-4733
    @dapperhk-4733 Před 5 lety +3

    There are a few issues the key of which you pointed out yourself.
    First: Palpatine is often blinded by his own pride and this is a trait mirrored by much of the Imperial high command. Perhaps against such a large force, his overconfidence would be cooled.
    Second: you mentioned Palapatine’s inability to predict the Skywalkers. I think it’s important to keep in mind that a United Republic and CIS will include not only Anakin, but Obi Wan, Windu, And Yoda in their prime. As of the battle of Endor, Luke was nowhere near his full potential and, while still a powerful force user and his power combined with Palpatine and Vader would be formidable, I’m not convinced they could outmatch the experience and combined might of their younger counterparts. Vader especially would find himself hard pressed to fight his younger self, a younger Obi Wan, or possibly even Grevious
    Third: the empire is efficient, but even if the rebel alliance cooperated with them, other rebellions are inevitable. The imperial war machine is considerable, but it is also one built on fear and forced labor. I can’t see a prolonged inter-galactic/dimensional war doing anything but worsening conditions for the empire. Besides, many in the rebel alliance were those whose only motivation was to overthrow the Empire. That’s what made it a Rebellion. There were many defectors among the alliance ranks, and I believe these would turn to the Republic or CIS rather than go back to the Empire.
    Fourth: the empire hasn’t proven itself in combat. The Jedi served as the main command structure of the clone wars, and Palpatine had them purged. The officers that didn’t abandon the Empire were mostly either greedy, corrupt, or very old-guard, and the new commanders, while some were undoubtedly brilliant, have all only had true experience dealing with rebel factions. I’m not convinced many of the empire’s commanders would stand a chance against a clone army guided by even a minor Jedi, though the tactician droids of the CIS would most likely fall short.
    Fifth: Galactic Civil War ingenuity falls far short of that found in the Clone Wars era. The republic and CIS were constantly one-upping each other with better tech, while the Empire has reached a point of stagnation, and the rebellion has little to no access to resources and so must steal or improvise most of their equipment. The empire and CIS are devoted to the creation of new weapons, and they have the extra benefit of the alien corporations such as the techno union and trade federation. The Empire’s reliance on centralized industry does make their war machine more efficient, but leads to the mass production of technology that is just not effective, such as the ATAT.
    I could be led to agree that the Empire has an advantage, but I think the margin is much closer than you suggest. In sheer size and brute strength, the empire is better, but Death Stars And SSD’s can be destroyed by surgical and even accidental attacks, and even if the whole galaxy was mobilized, such losses would still be felt. At the very least, a war with the clone wars factions would lead to an economic crisis if not total collapse. The republic and CIS would also probably be put under considerable strain, but in victory, their economies would be in “recovery” not in “collapse” the difference being that the CIS and republic would be brought closer through war and work together to fix the damage done, while the empire would be fractured by it, and most likely go straight back to fighting the alliance when all was over.
    Great video though. I loved all the editing. It looked like a lot of work. I miss the good boi at the end though, but if I want to see him, I can just look at one of your older videos. Keep up the good work! Watching your vids is as addictive as reading wookiepedia.

  • @KushSalad

    Clones supplemented hoards of droids being lead by Jedi generals vs some Stormtroopers and maybe a small amount of Rebels. Prequel wins most ground battles.
    Giant Capital ships with heavy shields and weapons in ABUNDANCE vs Smaller carrier like ships with limited weapons and smaller Droid ships with decent weapons and shielding. Original trilogy wins most space battles (Ship to Ship)
    The advantage here is the Prequels have kickass starfighters so that would make up for there deficit for their navy. If they focued very heavily on starfighters instead of Capital ships that prolly cannot compete with Imperial ships then In think the prequels take the cake.
