- Don't pay the dealership for something you can so simply do yourself :) you can order your replace fob via amazon.com from the shipper discount keyless or via ebay.com they run just under $30 each.
Worked like a charm, thanks man! For everybody asking unfortunately the trick DOES NOT work on Dodge, Chryslers later then 2010.

Bro I'm glad to hear you say that. I just bought a 2009 charger, buddy said the battery in the fob was dead but after replacing it, find out the entire fob is just trashed. I just ordered a new fob online and it got me nervous on if it'll work or not, but you saying it worked on your 2009 got me feeling a bit better 👍 cheers

What if you only have one programmed fob? The original quit working. Had no need for it it stayed in my drawer. Lost my programmed fob and grabbed the spare but it wont turn anything on just good for door (key) and ignition. Can i program it with the other? Once i find it

I’ve done this at least five times, because I break keys like crazy. I have a bunch of keys that’ll start my 2008 Charger SRT but the buttons don’t work. My problem is my car won’t go into learn mode. I do have a check engine light and a warning light on, do you think that is why my car won’t go into learn mode?
nah, the check engine light just adds horsepower...or kills your car faster, i forget which...

**UPDATE**
There was some kind of an ignition recall that prevented my car from going into “learn” mode. NOT a check engine or warning light.

@@Una2Cold yes, but it was $0.00 because of a recall with the ignition. BUT Amazon keys work just fine also if you want extra keys.

You can't. You need 2 working FOB's, And if it is a 2010 or above only the dealer or a locksmith can do it. Or buy your own SKP-100 key programmer which is anywhere from $350-$450. I saw my locksmith do mine with that. He charged me $50 here in Miami.
I just tried this with my 2009 Charger, it went into learn mode just like it should but when I put the new key in to program it just chimes one time and gives me the solid red security light. Key won’t program. Anyone know why it won’t work?

I heard you don't need two original keys,just do the first stage twice with your original key,then introduce the new one.I'm going to try tomorrow and get back to you all,I'll be trying it on a 09 dodge avenger.

@@devinnoriega8598I didn't try this method eventually(only reason i was going to is i was sold the wrong key,a 315mhz one so was struggling),i used a k518ise Lonsdor. The dodge was one of the easiest cars i've done with the Lonsdor,pulled the pin code easily,and added the new key in seconds!
Doesn't affect the original key in any way whatsoever either which is always good to know.
U.S keys are 315mhz,U.K/European one i worked on was a 433mhz one.

it should ya you oviously still wpuldnt have remote start. they do sell the one without you just have to search for 4 button replacement key fob

You should be able to do that y. It's worth trying worst case it doesn't work but the new key fob from the dealership would be the most expensive part. So worst case ordering one of these fobs off amazon if it doesn't work you would only have to pay for programming which should be ballpark 50- 70ish is what it is where I am located so could be more could be less depending on location

Hello colleagues, Im having the same issue: I have two working keys. Dodge Caravan' 2009. But I'm unable to get program mode. Last year I fulfilled recal R03: dealer replaced WIN module and gave me two new FOBIKs, may be with new WIN module this feature was gone?
Correct.
If a WIN Module is replaced under recall (or software updated) by a Dealership, the self-programming feature is no longer possible.

I have the same problem with my 2010 sxt. I had only one keyfob for the car. bought 2 on ebay took it to a locksmith for programming so I now have 2 working keyfobs. tried following the steps to program the 3rd one myself but no beep or blinking light on the dash, any tips?
If a Dodge vehicle was recalled for the WIN Module replacement, self-programming is no longer possible.
It's likely that later production Dodge vehicles (2010+) probably have the new WIN Module also, which prevents self-programming by owners.

You do not have to go to the dealership cause I just did it on a charger with only 1 key.

I have not encountered that problem, I believe you can reprogram that new key if you repeat the process. But I'm not 100%. I have ordered one blue key and one pink one and both had programmed and worked each button it is suppose to.
Does your vehicle have remote start?
Self-programming includes activating the FOB buttons.
If the fob buttons are not responding, then do as Jesse suggests and try programming again.
If still no luck, then you may have bad contacts inside your FOB.
If you can get access to a frequency counter, this will help you establish if the buttons are transmitting.
Alternatively, purchase an aftermarket key shell (with the correct internal contact design) and swap your circuit board into the new shell

hey man i have a 2012 challenger with no remote start but i have a push to start..no key entry.can i do it the same way you are doing it if i purchase a new key fob with remote start?
I'm honestly am not too sure how to go shouts programming any of the newer ones with the push to start.
not sure if you got this fixed or not but i think if you pop out the remote start button the hole to insert the key fob is there so maybe you can try it like that.

They sell they key without the remote start button I believe it's the "4 button key fob" you should be able to "use" the fob that has the remote start option however you wouldn't have remote start feature unless you pay to have that feature installed into your vehicle.

Remote Start is a separate add-on accessory for the vehicle.
Buying a new remote (which has the remote start button) may still program to your vehicle, but the remote start button will not respond.

yes! they cant turn you away just because you got the key elsewhere.
