This track was originally a creation of Average White Band (check-out their version!), with its memorable bass part laid-down by Alan Gorrie. The subsequent Chaka Khan version released in 1981 saw the inimitable Anthony Jackson interpret & embellish that bassline - in a lower register versus the AWB original - but in many respects, structurally similar. My own take here is recorded over a 'bass-less' CZcams version of Chaka's track; I've not followed Jackson's bass part note-for-note but instead played it as I would live. Recorded here with Musicman Stingray Classic (detuned) & flatwounds, via a Boss GT-1B.
