Good explicit advice. Answered exactly what I was looking for. (Nov.19/23...2 : PM)
Good information. Never knew that could happen. I was told as a kid after every use release at the pressure so every time I use it I release all the pressure
This is a great video and such a good reminder! I will have to do mine this weekend too!
Thanks for watching! Yea, it’s amazing to me how something so simple can cause big problems if not maintained.
Thank YOU So Much 💓 ! I'm A Woman Who Tries & Take Care Of Things At The Homestead While My Hubby In Another State Working. I Had A Foam White Colored Liquid Coming Out of Compressor That Had Not Been Used For Some Time & I UTube For A Helpful Video, And In That Times I Came Across Your Great Video, So Informative, And Also Something I Had Ever Known To Do ! Forever Grateful 🙏 , God bless You & Yours, Penney C, Al
You are very welcome! I’m so happy that it helped you in some way!! Also congrats to you to holding down the homestead as your husband is away. Very impressive. Thanks for the positive feedback! Best wishes.
Excellent safety video doesn't bear thinking if one was to explode
Thank you. Absolutely! Small things can add up over time potentially causing a disaster.
thank you for this, I had no clue... dreading doing this for the first time to the huge compressor we have been using for over a decade to power our shirt press 👀
Good video also a good reason to invest into a air filter because that moisture is going through your line and into your tools as well.
Great insight!! I hadn’t even thought of that. Then again all air has some moisture in it, but very good point. I’ll have to look into that. Thank you!
I guess if you have a shallow bowl put in a white sheet of paper to see the colour of the condensate. Great video since some show people pulling valves and I wanted to know if it was safe to unscrew by hand that drain plug, which you showed.
Loved your video thanks its just what I needed.
Happy to have helped in some way! Thanks for the support!
thank you for the video, sucks that we have to lean it forward I can't imagine doing that to my big boy but maybe mine has a drain plug in the middle
Thanks for the comment. Yea you bring up a good point. Common sense would be putting one right at the bottom in the middle with the tank funneling down towards the valve. Now I’m curious how yours is.
if its not drained often, can it cause overheating?.. if so, is there a chance draining would solve heating issue?.. ty for any reply
Can you spray rust check rust inhibiter in the drain hole 🕳 after removing the plug?
We have a tank with a bit of rusty powder we noticed after removing it
Anyone?
Thanks
Using this info for my airbrush compressor. I didn't realize this and drained it after a few years... it was all brown. Once i drained it and felt it had stopped, what are the next steps. Do i let it air out?, do i just plug it back up and keep on going?
Do you completely drain the tank of air when draining the condensation? I just bought and set up and 80 gallon Kobalt and forgot to open the valve when starting the run up.
Hey @Corker57 thanks for watching and great question! It certainly wouldn’t hurt. Main thing is that all the condensation and moisture is out. If there is no more moisture coming out, I don’t feel there is technically a need to drain all the air.
@@handymanfortheaverageman7975 Thanks for the reply. I do need however if I understand your video to totally empty the tank before I make a modification to the valve, correct?
Do you have any tips for what to do if you start getting rust colored liquid coming out when you drain it? I have a compressor I've had for three months, I use it very frequently and always drain it at the end of the day but it's having that darker rust colored liquid coming out recently.... Not sure what to do as I'd like it to last for as long as possible and do drain it every day.
I would have to err on the side of caution to say it sounds like the tank’s integrity has been compromised. That being said, you may still get a decent bit of use from it but I am not personally familiar with a solution to seal the rust or cracks that are coming from the inside. Best of luck!
All compressors get rust coming out of them eventually. Some sooner than others but all tanks are unpainted so it’s inevitable.
What can you do about it? F all. Keep draining it daily and take care of it - it’ll keep functioning for years to come.
If you get muck in your lines just put a filter on the outlet. There’s a reason there is a market for filters 😉.
Do you actually have to do it every time you use it cause water was coming out of my dia grinder and when I drained it nothing came out
Hey so I have brown rust water coming out, I just bought it. Is it minor or major problem..
It's normal.
I opened up the valve and nothing came out . What does this mean ? Its never used often and looks in good condition. ( just a tiny bit of dark oil looking substance on my fingertips.) All the air came out though and the pressure went right down. Is this right ? ( IM a girl trying to learn these things for myself) .
Sounds like it's good. Air compressors have a little oil in them from the motor which needs the oil for lubrication, a small amount of which then gets blown down the line. You could try tilting the air compressor so the drain valve is at the lowest point, but otherwise it sounds like it's nice and dry inside.
Is it safe to leave air in compressor or do you have to release all the unused air after you use it?
Don’t HAVE to release the air because overtime the air will eventually leak out. It’s always better to err on the side of caution so I would say it’s best to release the pressure from the tank when you aren’t using it.
@@handymanfortheaverageman7975 Thank you!
What can cause excessive condensation draining Shop Compressor multiple times on daily basis and still we get water out of the hoses, we even cleaned and drained the in line filter which made no difference.
Our workplace, which is a garage where cars are washed, has a air compressor that hasn't been drained once in the two years we've had it. I drained it today, and the water was all brown.
thats a faucet! lol
3.5 min of lip service (😭) then 10 seconds of knowledge. Your welcome.
Thank you for your opinion. Have a great day!
Get on with it dude.
It’s called fast forward. It is a wonderful feature!
