Carlisle are virtually doomed at the foot of the table while Everton arrived at Kenilworth Road top of the league even though they had not won in three matches.
carlisle were very unfortunate to go down that season, it sounds obvious but 25 defeats did for them, if they'd turned a few of those losses into draws they'd have survived, apart from a 5-2 loss at a brilliant Stoke city they were never really hammered, great memories

Carlisle were relegated that season and we Everton lost the chance to be English champions because of this game! We also lost to Carlisle 2-3 at home that season over the Xmas period so they beat us home and away and which was 4 points lost and we also lost the league by 3 points! Never forget it! Everton could/should have won the league that season. But losing to Carlisle (who were relegated) both home and away fucked that!
How shite were dai Davis and Dave Lawson no wonder we won nothing.
