Putting text behind moving objects in Davinci Resolve is a little tricky but get to look perfect but the actual process is fairly simple! Power Window to mask your subject, then track it and job done. It is fiddly though and takes a little time to get to looking perfect.

Mr Alex Tech
I still can't believe Davinci Resolve is free. It's Awesome!
Blackmagic design is actually primarily focusing on hardware (cameras, GPUs, etc.), and when filmmakers start out with the free version of Resolve, they are more likely to buy Blackmagic products in the future.
I'm extremely grateful for Resolve too!
@@bragefuglseth3505 ya true have used black magic clip like pocket cinema 4k.
It just flies in resolve if we compare from canon and others have used m50 that also in both 4k and 1080p.
And render and editing blackmagic footage is much easy if blackmagic ever have a good or even semi decent auto focus I would ditch all the camera and go for it and only two reasons I am not using blackmagic 4k first is budget have not that money currently and second is lack of auto focus as I really need to learn a lot in manual focus
Congratulations, Alex! The 50,000 subscribers milestone has been achieved.
thank you so much for this! I was really worried about learning masking because for some reason I'd unconsciously decided that it would be extremely difficult. but you explained it in such a simple way and I'm so excited to try it out now!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge in these bite-size tutorials !
No problem at all 🙂👍
The transition at the end of this clip is so good.
Thank you. I'll be releasing them soon! Just need to finish working on them all. 🙂👍
Mr Alex! I just can't find the words to express my satisfaction after watching another great tutorial of yours! Thanks a lot. 👍
Hey! You're most welcome, always happy to help 😊
thank you so much, Premiere's was super easy but now i can do it in Davinky as well
That was fantastic, i need to start experimenting with some of these neat tricks 👍
Hey! Cheers dude, yeaah have an experiment! 😃
This is excellent! Thank you !
DUDE, you da' MAN! Thanks for these, they all look absolutely fantastic! I truly hope a TON of people download these!! **I STILL can't believe you only get £3!!?**

Amazing Video Alex Salute King 🙏 👑 Thank You
BRO. IM LITERALLY GONNA WIN A FILM CONTEST BECAUSE OF YOU!!!! Today I was thinking of this exact thing. And then BOOM WHADDUP ALEX HERE!
Haha awesome dude!! Good luck, let me know if you win 😁😁😁
SO HELPFUL for memes. I wanted to put a png hair on travis scott rubbing his forehead with the hair on it. did it in like 3 seconds. Awesome vid
Great! Another thing to try! I find that it is these little details that make an average video stand out a bit more.
there's no even one negative comment. just shows you how good what you're doing is.
To me you are the best one how makes davinci resolve tutorials
Thanks again❤
I never knew tracking in color tap was this powerful. I spent about 6 hours to mask 5 second of my dog video one time lol
Ohhh man 😆! Yeah the tracking does a decent job, sometimes it can just fall over completely but for simple objects it's quite good. As you saw in the video, the building track worked great. The intro to this video was a bit more difficult but still way quicker than doing it frame by frame 🙂
I know Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account??
I stupidly lost my login password. I would love any help you can give me
@Anders Briar instablaster ;)
@Malik Bodie thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Malik Bodie it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my account !
we owe u a big thank you. you're one of the best people i saw on the internet, like, ever.
Great tutorial! Works with DR18.6, no significant changes since this version
Thanks for the step by step tutorial.....always good to see you on Friday. Have a great weekend Alex.
Bro, u are GOLD. ❤️. Precise, to the point. Brilliant.
Finally Alex I caught your greetings, i always wanted to understand that greeting. You see, English is. my second language. Thank you for sharing this tutorial
Thanks a million for the easy explanation! A few more details, for example why we change from frame to clip at 4:02 would help understanding the steps even better ;-)
Mr Alex Tech!! I am still using ur vids to help me and i am still very thankful!!
I have converted many of my friends to join the Mr Alex Tech Nation!!
Thank you so much Alex. You are the man
Thanks Trini 😊
Nobody cannt explain this simple. thank u
Great video, thanks a lot!
Hey Alex, as always, clear and concise...but what about multiple tracking masks within the same clip?
Can't seem to work out how to do it 🤔
Do you know?
Thanks again!
😁👍👍
Ah-hah!!!!
Maybe, serial nodes would do it. Dunno why I didn't think of that 🤔
I blame Adobe Premier Pro. 😂
One of my new favorite youtubers! Video editing was always a scary area for me but since I started following this channel I learned a lot. Thank you so much
I use Divinchi as my main editing software and have learned a lot from you. Thank you.
You're most welcome! 😊
Great tutorial (again)! Thanx a lot, man! You are my Davinci Resolve god. :-D
Haha thanks dude 😆
Man, you're a life saver. Thank you for these great tutorials!
Mr. Alex fo President :D You rock dude. Thank you so much for your hard work.
very helpful and well explained. Thamnks a lot!
This is a great trick. Using this with just text is only the beginning. I'm starting to see other possibilities as well!
You help me a lot bro I am learning from you thanks a lot keep going❤
Brilliant!! Thank you Alex!!!
Awesome video man! Just helped me soooo much! Thank you!!
That was perfect! Thank you!!
Thanks!
Thank you soo much bro! Didn't have too much time for the deadline of my project, this video is clear and simple. Exactly what I was looking for! :)
Great stuff !! As always .... my go to for Davinci Resolve learning and know how. Thank you very much Mr. Alex Tech ! Don’t stop !
Thanks, this was helpful and worked out fine. I created a thubnail with your help. The moving objects I will try out soon too. Greetings
Thank you
Great video, thank you for the tutorial
Amazing stuff! thnks Alex.
Thanks a ton Alex.. you are really a gem !
Hi Alex.
Thank you for your work and tutorials. it's for me a help to make my videos better in the future (I'm in France). So, I bought a Tshirt.
@+.
thats really really wonderfully
I REALLY love your tutorials Alex! My work depends of you hehe. Thank you!
Really enjoyed that mate! Nice explanation too. Something I think I’ll now try in the future! 👍
Nicely done Alex, another brilliant tutorial. Love the transition BTW, I take it thats coming in a future transition pack..
Thank you! Super easy and well explained🔥
Incredible tutorial. I'll be using this technique in my next videos :) I haven't followed this channel for a long time, but I'll continue to do so in the future.
Thank you so much alex^^
This is just a cool effect that I often use myself. Keep up the good work with your great videos.
greeting manual
Amazing. I have tried to do this, but got lost in UI. I see it now, thanks a lot!
When I try it, the effects I do on the top clip also affect the bottom clip such that its just a black backgound, how do I resolve this?
Simple and well explained Thank you !
Great tutorial
In the tracker menu, what do the “clip” and “frame” buttons denote?
I can't quite remember what clip denotes but, frame, is signifying that every frame that you adjust will ad a new point/keyframe. Or something along those lines. Clip would just *not* do that.
Alex I am eagerly waiting for slice transitions for mac. As always this too is very nice bro
This help a lot dude
I was waiting for something like this as have seen so many videos by matti happoja where I see text in the middle of drone shot and always want to know hot it is being done now know it and will love to do it myself
this is so cool, but I had a terrible experience with matching the colour of the 2 videos(note that we cannot apply the Grab Still in the Color Page since it will apply all the tracking as well. I might have to use Fusion to avoid such hassle. Thanks for sharing anyway!
thanks it help a lot
50k !!!! Always hereeeee
Think you could show us some trippy effects? I enjoy your work and how you teach
thanks maaaaan
Brilliant!
No wonder this video has no dislikes (ignore the 1), you are awesome!
In the second example you have a static background. I'd there a way to tell resolve to only track the things that change as a mask? Or some kind of subtraction?
Nearly 50'000!!!!!
Thanx 4 this!
Really nice
Alex I wondering if you can do a tutorial on lifting ink from a page and making them , perhaps glow in mid air?
Thanks
can you apply the same strategy when working with an image instead of text?
Yup, exactly the same
@@MrAlexTech thank you so much for the quick response!
You always do a great job on these! Very underappreciated. Out of curiosity, could you do this in Fusion as well? Thought that was the primary way to track targets, actually...
Yes, with magic mask
Hi Alex great Video as always, although I have a problem: - When I create a power window The area inside is a translucent blue color which shows in the output How do I make it truly transparent???
Great Video - I tried the same thing on a still that is 15 seconds in length. however it only worked for the first frame only. Do I need to still track this even though it is a still photo? Thanks!
I love you, thank you
Very good!
Thanks nice one
Can anyone please tell me how to remove a point you created from the pen tool? It's easy to add one.. but im finding it hard to delete one.. I've tried clicking on the point.. pen tool animation changes to a minus kind of symbol but it doesn't do anything? Help
Hi Alex, love your tutorials. Is there any equally simple tracker solution in Fusion to inverted mask the text instead? I can use the point and planar trackers but don’t get as good results. Seems a bit strange to have the best tracker for this in Colour not Fusion... any thoughts?
Ty man
So we also can create fake depth by blurring lower track of video after masking out.
👌👍
Hey Mr Alex! I was wondering how do you create an eclipse burst on davinci?
Osum...loved it :)
Just want to know can we also use text+ in this also
Yup you sure can 👍
Little curios, in what scenarios do i need to choose between "clip" or "frame", what is the difference? I've always used clip.
Great tutorial as always!
Nice one Alex. Thx!
Cheers Simon 🙂👍
Hey Ales, great job as usaul! But what do the “clip” and “frame” buttons do? What's the difference between them? Thank you!
hi alex! can we capture a vhs tape and convert it to mpeg 4 in davinci?
it will be a great help to know that.
thanks alot
At 6:12 you drag the entire mask at once. How can I do that with masks in the Fusion tab?
Hi Alex, I have a question that doesn't go directly with this video. Can you please explain the difference between audio ducking and audio automation in Fairlight? Or more precisely: Can you please introduce the different possibilities of audio automation? And also: How can I change or delete a curve that was created using audio automation? Unfortunately, I haven't found much about all of this in the web. Greetings, John
Hi Alex, thank you for this 👍🏾
Do you think I can use this in a Music Video?
for some reason when i do this the text is bleeding through my second image. you can tell the text is lighter but still shows through, im pulling my hair out, why is it doing that?
I've been using alpha channel controls for layering objects (like this) and transitions (e.g. luma fade transitions). For complicated shapes (like hair) I've used chroma key replacement with mixed results. I ended up combining 8 alpha chanel nodes (both pen tool and color picker), thinking "There must be a better flow for this!". Is there a better flow for more complicated alpha channel combinations?
