Empowering Oil Palm Smallholders - 10 Years On

Wild Asia Group Scheme (WAGS) was established to support independent oil palm smallholder farmers to meet global certification standards.
In 2013, a pioneer group of 42 WAGS farmers from Sabah became the first independent smallholder group to be RSPO-certified in Malaysia, and one of only a handful of RSPO-certified groups in the world then. They were instrumental in showing that RSPO (Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil) certification is possible for small farmers.
To mark the 10th Anniversary of this milestone, we talk with the pioneers behind this group and Wild Asia Executive Director Dr Reza Azmi.
