He didn't grow up alone, he simply chose not socialize and make friends like a normal person. Besides, Harry is a pure Gryffindor. He isn't one percent Slytherin. The only reason the Sorting Hat told him he could do well in Slytherin was because the Hat sensed Voldemort's horcrux inside Harry. Other than the horcrux, Harry is a full Gryffindor.

He was born into an orphanage that took to hatred instead of acceptance and was denied love by a headmaster( transfiguration professor at the time) that should’ve known better. It is slughorn who taught a broken boy who was a afraid of death how to live forever, instead of teaching him how death wasn’t a bad thing. How it wasn’t something to fear. And it was the rumor that one born of a live potion could not love that set a man on edge for his entire hogwarts career. It was a shite family who coudn’t treat their son and/or grandson right. Voldemort was not born evil. I will never believe that.

He was also Parseltongue, a trait of several dark wizards. Not to mention, Tom was born in an inbred family, with cousins marrying cousins. And that family was known for being extremely violent and just having bad blood and genetics. He literally had genes of being violent. And slughorn? Well, frankly, I think Slughorn is afraid of death. If I'm not wrong, he even drank some Felix Felicis during the Battle of Hogwarts. How would he teach Tom to not be afraid, when he himself, was probably afraid? And besides, again, Voldemort was born from fake love; a love potion. He simply _can't_ love, no matter how hard he tries. Didn't dumbledore say that, himself? But either way, my point still stands. Voldemort was too far in deep to suddenly change and become nice and stuff.
