This was the cars leaving the Harpenden Classics On The Common. A unique event in that it is held during the day on a Wednesday! The police were on hand to watch the departures too, and whilst they weren't fond of the driving, they seemed to have had a good time too!

That's the difference between a race track. Cars and humans are separated. No police necessary.
@@F1L337 we might aswell wear bubble wrap and a helmet ,live and let live, sometimes shit happens, can't keep making new laws and safety regulations because nothing will never be 100% safe. Sometimes you've to take the long way round, I have to do it for roadworks etc once in the blue moon so Id say for a car meet every now and then people will be fine getting where they need to go,its not that deep.

Its their job to keep you safe. Guess where they don't take care of you: On a racetrack. Why? Because its (mostly) safe for pedestrians. If there would be similar security measures the police wouldn't make such a huss out of it.
Try to think from the perspective of every group participating.

Great event Adam, thought about bringing my R34 along but really didnt want to sit in a queue for nearly an hour, to get nowhere, non the less, some amazing stuff, just didnt want to drive nearly a hundred miles to sit in an endless queue. Next time perhaps

The copper can write the plates down but he can't do anything. Now the cars have gone. He has no evidence of anything, there's no law about accelerating too quickly to 40mph. He's just trying to abuse any authority he thinks he has.
They can issue a section 59. It lasts for 12 months. I got one last week.
@@R56TurboCharged they can't issue a section 59 cause the car is a little loud on a non residential road? Like I say, he has no evidence of anything, he could jot down any old reg for all he likes 🤷 it's not even a criminal conviction, just a policeman trying to be "busy". I'd take your one to a judicial review and get it overturned my friend.
They can and they will. They will refer you to CPS or whatever with a statement and it will be your word against theirs. Is there a law against accelerating to the speed limit ?
I've been referred to the CPS or whatever with a statement of an officeer, got CD10 driving without due care and attention for accelerating too aggressively, in the law it's literally defined as something like "driving in a manner deemed unsatisfactory by an officer" or some crap, I didn't dispute it though. Happy to say my insurer didn't care much either
No but you can still get prosecuted for it
If you break traction you can be prosecuted for dangerous driving, if you didn't break traction and stopped accelerating once at the limit its no problem
