The original 2.25:1 stealth diff was an absolute GAME CHANGER. All you need on that king cab is a proper slipper now ;)
Yeah those things changed the industry.
Great video! The stealth is quite a straight forward swap compared to my King cab with a Lethal weapon a&l transmission. I had butcher part of the chassis, still in the process of finishing it to a running order.
Yes, this is an incredibly simple installation and given the fact the transmission is a completely different car. They transformed the entire truck for me
I own two Monster Racers. I bought them as kits In 1994 and ran them on and off over the years. They sit on the shelf now and the transmissions are still good. I think I will leave them on the shelf before investing more time and money in them. Thank you for your videos and designs.
Oh very nice. I ran mine last night for the first time and I just loved it. I am glad you enjoyed the videos. I have many more upgrades to come.
Have you thought about a diff case that would incorporate the M.I.P. super ball diff for this truck? The stealth transmission seems hard to find, but I think you can buy the separate parts and build one. I run my Midnight Pumpkin with your front suspension kit all the time, love it!
I have but the size of the MIP diff is quite big and would completely change the geometry of the axles. Plus it would need a gear box, new gears overall and end up costing a fortune! So far I am in love with the stealth version. I know RCC is looking at the SC10 as a doner trans. That would make life much easier.
I always wanted one of these as a kid, i hope Tamiya does re release of this truck.
Yeah but knowing them them RERE diff wont be fixed.
Sad but true, Kyosho takes care of all the problem spots with their repros...
I had the original RC10 "Pan Chassis" with the 6-gear trans.... Indeed it was complex!I realize that this build is exciting, but try to remember that the King Cab's tires are considerably larger. Gear it down!! 😉
And yes, I've lost a few batteries in this truck!
So PLEASE fix that. 😊
I'm on it!
Awesome!
The old JG rc parts company used to make a bumper for the King Cab
Yeah I used to have one. Still used those stock mounts sadly.
LOL! you just made a tamiya RC with the best transmission better than tamiya ever made EVER! =)
Hahahah! I was thinking that too.
My TRF 201 has something to say about that.
@@XBobbyVegasX Trf is crap.
Lol, I never knew about JIS... Damn near stripped most of the screw heads on my tamiyas when I was a kid using my dads screwdrivers 🤣
Same here! It is not a commonly known thing and the funny part is, JIS is a long dead standard...and yet, Tamiya seems to think "Let's Run with it!"
Awsome idea! Just the kit I need for my vintage Toyota MR. Unfortunatly looks like RCC is out of business. Looks like a good oprotunity for AMRO to pick up where RCC ended.
I am not out of business. Just don't know when I can make parts again. I'll look into having my parts made in another shop so I can provide kits again!
Ampro and RCC are friends lol.we talked about finding a way to get these kits available again.
@@turbodurbo666 Yes!
Yay!!!!
I had a Tamiya Madcap (Same transmission) and the idler bracket was really annoying as it flexed and that destroyed the gears, I made an aluminium bracket and that helped, but only for a few runs
I ended up buying a RC10CE and I loved it and I now have several RC10 and RC10T cars
Ohh...And I'm building a 5th scale RC10 buggy
Same here. I have my RC10's too and I love them.
Yeah..... guilty! I'm one of those obsessed people!! 😂😜NICE setup. I think you've NAILED it!
So, where can we get one??
Glad you liked it! I give the designers email at the end of the video and it is also in the description! It is so worth it.
That's what I get for not looking!
old video also inspiring!
Haha! Yeah its a good design.
@@AMPROEngineering watching this video, I am kinda looking forward the release of King Cab(better with some improvement on the gear box)
@@jakewang243 Tamiya would never fix anything like that. they know their fans could care less. It's sad.
I like the buggies in your intro, nice video 👍
Thanks Joe. If you see episode 50 I talk about all my fleet. They are all covered.
This looks great do you know if there is a part number for the gearbox to allow this modification? i only ever run Tamiya's and have no clue on the RC10s and what to buy.
It is just called the stealth transmission. They are $$$ now sadly.
With the positive camber, you could fit the lower arms so the pivot is spun 180 degs so the pivot is further from the gearbox. May clear your motor plate too. Hair Your Way on instagram,
Interesting thought! As I think about it the only issue I can see it the dog bone length right? They would need to be longer but in all other respects it would be perfect.
I had one these. the diff uses shims instead of an adjustment screw. The pot metal/diecast outdrives of diff were weak and warp therefore causing the diff to slip excessively. Other problem was the metric gear pitch.
Yeah the metric gear pitch is hard to deal with in the US but as you mention, that is the least of the KC's problems.
Ever tried the Thorpe gears? Over/underdrive gears?
Amazing you fit the stealth. I’m a new sub, and probable customer now! Great work
I havent simply due to cost and rarity. I am sure that they are good but man you cant beat the stealth.
Honestly I Agee...I emailed the gentleman about the stealth conversion. I will do it as soon as I can find a conversion kit.
Is this the truck the tyco bandit was model after?
No, these were kind of concurrent. The Nissan D21 was just huge when it debuted in '87.
I'd keep the lower arm length the same and the dog bone where it screws to the plate could be extended. that what I'd do.
No I agree. Now it is a mater of finding a replacement dogbone. I think I will need to take a look around.
Does anyone know where I can get this converting kit for the Tamiya King Cab?
He doesn't make it anymore unfortunately. Ill be selling my KC soon though if you are interested. amproengineering@gmail.com
Thanks for this amazing video and I know it was made a couple years ago. I am trying to beef-up my Madcap which shares the same gearbox as the Astute and King Cab. Do you know if the Stealth X gearbox is mostly the same as the older Stealth gearboxes?
I think it is different to be honest. RCC is planning on a new version with a more common trans
love the castor and arms Ampro. How do I buy??? Again, great content to replace my Thorp and Belt ANL trans Monster Racers.
Thank you. Everything is at shapeways. There is a link to the store in the description and check out the KingCab section.
Could you make the parts for this?
You would need to reach out to RCC. I do not have the tooling for this unfortunately.
Is the Stealth transmission on an RC10T geared differently from, say, an RC10 Worlds buggy?
Hmmmm.....I don't think they are but I am no expert.
yes it is the truck has a higher gear ratio so the buggy and truck are different.
Where can i buy these RCC parts??
Link in the description to contact them but at the moment they are sold out.
Did you have to change the dogbones because mine are really short
Nope, mine went in perfect. Are they the correct ones? I ask as one of mine was from a Blitzer and too long.
I figured it out after i talk to the guy from rcc he helped me out thanks for everything
Can you still get the stealth kit from rcc?
I think so. Shoot them an email.
If anyone has a spare conversion PM me
I emailed the manufacturer. They are making more.
Thanks
