I miss doing calligraphy! I'm just an amateur, nowhere near this good. But I did a bit in high school and some years after that. Just certificates for my church, a few weddings. It's been years now. I'd have to start all over. I don't know that I'd have the patience or capacity anymore.
I'm only a few minutes into the video, but so far, it's gorgeous! I love that shade of blue on "inspiring", and the way he did the "s." And, of course, anyone who can write straight with no guidelines is amazing in my book. I can't even do regular writing straight if I don't have lines!

really yummy! been wanting to focus a bit on italic and this has inspired me. One thing I sometimes find a bit confusing is when you guys post links to the nibs on amazon... there's usually a whole list of different items and I'm not sure which specific tool is the one you are referencing... could I request you guys do specify which item it is if it isn't too much trouble?

Amazon's calligraphy supplies are so limited. Check out Paper and Ink Arts and John Neal Booksellers. They have professional calligraphers there who will help you choose the right materials, and their prices are often better than Amazon's. Good luck!

I had those pen nibs for such a long time...and I gave them away a few months ago for not using them. Well, after watching this video I sort of regret it, so I think I will go buy some more.

Can you use the white ecoline somehow? I keep trying with dippens but it seems like itâs too thick
Did you shake good the bottle? White one is a bit thicker than the rest, but you can add some water till you happy
@@CalligraphyMasters yes I shook it, thank you for replying. I just mean I canât make strokes with it because it doesnât come off the nib until a blob of ink falls off it, I will try with water first but Iâm trying to put it over black ink so I donât think watering it down will work

Just in comparison to this lovely work, and my own inability to make the italic lower case i look right, lol. Of course it's only day 2.

italics are 4 to 5 pws high...7 degrees slant. you keep changing angles with the nib...if you write like that don't call it Italics.
O well, I guess we are 2017 and stuff is changing... So people can't experiment and change traditional alphabets... ?
Italic script has many variations. Spacing and slant angle are key. You can call it whatever you want to!
In 1830 Victor Hugo's play Hernani broke the standard rhyming scheme and literally started a riot because of stuffy old purists didn't like how it broke the rules. You sound like them.
