I was on the western by pass yesterday and it was HELL. You feel hemmed in by the barriers protecting the road workers, you have to slam on the anchors when a group of cars join and you can't get into the right hand lane, and buses sit up your tailgate. Never has the sign for Hexham been so welcime.

I used to work at the DSS in Longbenton in the 90's and the place used to be massive with tall buildings. Must have changed since I was there last as I didn't even see you drive by it

I can remember when Newcastle's training ground was on West Rd and looked like a school games field. Mind you, this was the eighties, before the megabucks from Sky flooded into the game and I bet most of the players were riding around in Ford Sierras, not Range Rover Velars with privacy glass.
