    Hi Jennifer - Great video and instruction. I'm new and I won my Cricut Explorer 2, so I don't think a 3 is in my near future, but I still love how you make everything and show us the way to beautiful things. I made my first sign (a Bible) verse last week and the finished product even impressed my hubby. I can now see all the wonderful things the cutting machines can do. Thanks for sharing and continued success. Love PegEgg

    Hi Jennifer! Thank you So much for all your tutorials! I’ve never made wood projects before so I’m really nervous to do something wrong! Did I see right that you sand everything after the paint is dry? Do you only do this for the rustic look? Just wondering if it takes off the paint. I was also wondering if you could use HTV instead of permanent vinyl and if so if you have to seal again for that. Thank you!!

      We designed and made them on our 3D printer. We plan to share the print files on our blog later this summer for anyone else who wants them. There are two styles -- the one on the left uses PVC pipes, so it’s height adjustable to your needs. The one on the right is all 3D printed except for the table, which is a piece of wood screwed to the legs. Both meet the requirements in Cricut’s Safety Instructions for “a flat and stable surface” as the Cricuts are just sitting on stable tables.

    So does this mean the 12ft maximum length can be a proper design rather than repeated cuts all the way?! This is amazing! Can you use any vinyl roll or does it have to be smart vinyl to feed through the machine?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, the maximum design length is 12 feet! Isn't that cool? The way I understand it now, Smart Vinyl is the recommended vinyl on a roll and no other. You may see me doing some experimenting with other kinds in the future, as long as it won't void my warranty! They are still so new that there are still questions about what works and what doesn't! 😍

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  Před 3 lety

      You could make a sign, Bonnie, however it couldn't be the same size! The maximum cutting width for a Joy is 4.5", and this design is wider than that! If a smaller sign would be ok with you, it's easy to do! Make sure the design you want is selected and go up to the "Size" bar on the top of your Design Space canvas (Windows). Keep it locked, and change the "W" to 4.5. The length will automatically change to 30.4". There you go! Smaller but still as cute! 😍

      We designed and made them on our 3D printer, Daphnee! Aren't they cool? We plan to share the print files on our blog later this summer for anyone else who wants them. There are two styles -- the one on the left uses PVC pipes, so it’s height adjustable to your needs. The one on the right is all 3D printed except for the table, which is a piece of wood screwed to the legs. Both meet the requirements in Cricut’s Safety Instructions for “a flat and stable surface” as the Cricuts are just sitting on stable tables. I can't wait to share them! 😍

      It can cut up to 12' of smart vinyl. I use permanent vinyl for stencils because I like the way it seals to avoid bleeding and it can still be removed easily.

    Is staining or priming the wood necessary?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  Před 3 lety +1

      With vinyl, Kelsey, we have found that painting the wood first is the best idea! You want as smooth a surface as possible for the vinyl to "stick" and bare wood alone, even after sanding, doesn't give a great result. If you like the look of natural wood, I would suggest using your Cricut to cut a stencil and use it to paint on your sign, like I did in this tutorial: 😊
