They are loud, but I can go in and adjust the volume of sounds independently from dialog, I rarely use the dialog though because it’s so limited on Lionel locomotives.
Mike, I would like to know why you are not returning the damaged (including paint issues) engines back to where you purchased these engines. Most dealers will take damaged engines back within 30 days of purchase. Like you I have had issues with Lionel warranty repairs, however I would think you would send damaged engines back to dealers for replacement or refund. Hoping to get a response from you.
Hi, the dealer I preorder from is a little shop, I would not expect him to taken them back. Even the big guys like Train World expect us to work with Lionel, although Train World and Brady’s trains have taken back Lionel and exchanged it for me if the items were really bad. My shop does send them back for me and deal with all the RA stuff. I don’t expect hobby shops to take the hit for Lionel when it’s not the hobby shops fault. Lionel is the one who should take ownership of the warranty or exchange, even refund for that matter. Most hobby shops around here are tired of Lionel as well and only stock the bare minimum like some starter sets and fastrack. They make more money and have less issues with other manufacturers and hobbies. They inventory more stock on other model railroad scales, slot cars, or hobbies like RC or models, etc..

I hope someone at the company is listening and reading these comments and complaints if they hope to stay in business for the long haul. The sad part is like many others I am heavily invested in Lionel and legacy system. For now though I have no plans to purchase the new legacy and rather going back to Lion chief operations.

Man that’s a bummer on the SW1! Sorry to hear that. It had me concerned because my last one that did that never went into programming mode and would never recognize the legacy remote, ended up back at Lionel for a new board.
Hopefully this ends up a keeper for you Mike. It is a beautiful locomotive. But, I also understand your frustration with the manufacturer. Good luck and Enjoy!

You could definitely add a couple of these due to variations available. Yes, I’d rather not EVER have an issue or have to deal with them if I do. When I picked it up today, I said, if anything is wrong, please deal with Lionel from start to finish for me, I don’t want to have to enter act with them at all. Lol

I bet you these locomotives go through a lot of smoke fluid. I don't like any type of Technology my locomotive. I have to argue with my MTH PS2 units to Shu t themselves off. Not a big fan of all this technology that's why I like Williams locomotive.
I wish I only liked toy trains, would save me a lot of money. I grew up on HO which was a lot more prototypical than my grandpas Lionel toy trains. They both have a place in my collection but I favor trains that look like what was and is actually running on the rails.

My friend came over Monday night, and bought my Legacy 612 j, the correct color version, with the 7 Lionel 18” aluminum car set I had collected for it, now I have a void in my N&W collection. I really really wanted this one, but faced with a tough decision on principal for sure. Thanks for the support! 👍
Heard the dialog, Bluefield Tower. I live three miles from bluefield yard, I use to listen to the tower on my scanner years ago, late at night.
