One suggestion I would make as I saw the onions falling off your patties is to add them directly on top of the special sauce. This keeps them in place.

Made one today. It actually came out great for a first attempt. One thing I can say it doesn't have that funny chemical after taste you sometimes get with regular fast food burgers.

I'd suggest using brown mustard, it doesn't have the spiciness of the dijon, but it doesn't have the strong tangy bitterness that yellow mustard does.

I can’t wait to make this. Big Macs were my favorite too before I went vegan. I remember there was a vegan burger called the Big Zac from Plant Power that was AMAZING!! But…. They’re only located in Southern California.🥺

Your sauce seems close to the "Triple O's" sauce from White Spot (I believe they are only in Canada) but I usually make a sauce similar to this for dipping vegan nuggets!

So I've never had a "real" big Mac but I've had several vegan recreations. This one was fabulous (though I did only a single patty bc small mouth)! I think I'm also team raw onion as much as I enjoy grilled onions on lots of things.

In India its called Maharaja mac , but really to be true McDonald's really doesn't taste good after some time. Maybe because of less spice. But yours looked good 👍

quick note about the buns, if youre vegan, make sure to look out for l-cysteine in the ingredients list. thats your sign that animals were used in the dough conditioning.
There are more plant-based versions, though they are not labeled differently. I always call a company to specifically ask what their dough conditioners are derived from, saying that I'm deathly allergic.

Yours looks amazing and I will definitely try it, but saying the Big Mac was dry indicates you did something wrong. As I recall, they were always so messy because the sauce caused them to slide all over the place.
Maybe it's a thing with my country, but hasn't McDonald's always been synonymous with dryass burgers?

Wait but I heard long ago that the Impossible Burger is plant based but not vegan cuz it's tested on animals or something. I think they even admitted that themselves a few years back and said that that's why it's not vegan.
Nearly every new ingredient is tested on animals. I put the onus on the FDA rather than the companies working within our effed up food system.
One ingredient in the mixture had to be tested once on lab rats to be deemed safe by the FDA. People saying that Impossible Burgers aren't vegan because of this don't know anything about industrial food preparation.

Can impossible meat be consumed raw?
It doesn't have blood or fecal matter, like regular ground beef, so is probably safer to consume raw, but why would you want to?

Beyond meat looks exactly like beef, couldn't even tell it apart. Before y'all say that it's a vegan video, I didn't read the title.
I can't STAND iceberg lettuce (white parts at least), it's just bitter barely chewable water. I absolutely HAVE to remove all the white iceberg lettuce from my stuff- and no one ever likes it enough to want it, although they SAY it's the best part (they'll eat anything else if I pick it off of food, they don't care about that). I think people just convince theirselves they like iceberg lettuce, when they really don't.
Change my mind.
You cannot make a Big Mac without it. Also, it's one of the least bitter lettuces due to its low chlorophyll content, so I don't know why it tastes unpleasant to you. Perhaps you're a supertaster.

I think I do taste some things that most people don’t, so that might be a big part of it. To be clear, it’s the white part that’s bitter. I can eat the green parts (the darker, the better), but people seem to throw that part away or something, because stuff’s always loaded with the white hard parts of it that don’t have flavour other than _bitter._ It reminds me a bit of celery.

@@Tyler_Skye77 I'm actually not sure what you mean by white parts. It's a light green colored lettuce throughout. Are you outside the US, maybe, where head lettuce is grown differently? Where I am it's so bland, it's like the scent of cucumber in another room in solid form. But it works well on burgers because it's complemented by stronger flavors.

No, I’m in the US. The butt of lettuce is white & it slowly fades to green. I’m talking about the parts close to the butt of the head. People always say that’s the only part of the (iceberg) lettuce they like, which blows my mind.
Cucumbers, yes! It’s like the faint bitter chemical taste in cucumbers, but way stronger. I actually like cucumbers, but too much & it starts tasting to weird. Celery tastes sorta between the 2 (& is way too fibrous to chew).
Once a disappointment. 😢 It’s not that you grew bigger hands, shrink-flation has hit all of us, mostly in the pocket. Vegan BK Whopper is big, the McPlant in the UK, not so big 🤷🏻

For me, I'm not a vegan guy. So I'd go for Chef Mike's big mac sauce recipe (with the real stuff rather than the vegan stuff), but then add in the Great Value Whipped Butter, & the Kraft Miracle Whip Whipped Salad Dressing. 😂

Agreed! But the recipe is still great since you can just swap the impossible meat for regular beef and still follow the recipe.

@Champlainscrap it absolutely can be better and usually is. 26 years vegan here. Everything I cook for my husband he says is 100x better than the non-vegan version he was used to
