    Bought this 2.5 years ago, love the vacuum. However, I've had two issues till date:
    1. Hardwood floor attachment (Absolute version) stopped working. Seamless Dyson customer support got it replaced within warranty
    2. Battery time reduced to 45 seconds. This time it was out of warranty and Dyson doesn't offer any help. Here's the surprise: they said batteries to run out after 2 years of extensive use. So, expect to spend $129+tax+shipping on battery every 2-3 years

    At the risk of being called a "Dyson Fanboi", I can agree that the V8 is great. I've had it since it first came out and it gets a lot more use than my collection of much fancier vacuums. Why, because it's so easy to use and it works well. I didn't want to like Dyson and thought they looked like cheap, creaky plastic, transformer toy junk, but once I actually used it, I was sold. Sure, it's lost a bit of battery life since new, but it still works really well. Of course, since using robot vacuums, Mr. Dyson is getting a lot less use. Love those robots - but that's a comment for a different day.

      You can't use the robots in your car.
      Speaking of cars, does anybody know where to get a flexible hose that will fit the V8?
      The attachments that come with the V8 Absolute are great for cleaning the inside of cars, but are not very maneuverable in tight spaces.
      Something like the hose in the Black & Decker Lithium Flex Auto Vacuum ?

    3:38 What Dyson doesn't get till now are LED lights on soft roller brushes for hard floors. I vacuum (Chinese branded cordless) in low light/dark so that the LED lights up the dust/debris which is satisfying to see and helps with not missing an area

Just bought a V8Animal to have on our lower level since we now have a cat that’s mostly prefers that area and hoping for the same level of excellence. Made the mistake of buying an $130 copycat that was trash unless you’re just gathering dust. When it comes to vacs, get the best and save a lot of labor and long-term expense.

    Yes the v8 are well built my friend has had her v8 for 4 years and still going strong. As long as you follow the rules on them they are
    You charge it when it's dead
    Then once fully charged you unplug it
    That's what I was told when I purchased my first Dyson cordless from the engineer

    • @blakaeg
      @blakaeg Před 4 lety +4

      We are still learning about lithium batteries. The battery cycles (charge and so charge) need to be kept to a minimum, so actually, keeping it at 100% all the time and charging it straight after you use it would be beneficial.

    • @tomholy
      @tomholy Před 4 lety +2

      I agree with you, I had a Dyson DC 16 for many many years and now have the V8. Also I've noticed with my phones that I have better battery performance long term than other people I know. What people need to realise is that when the Dyson stops that does not mean the battery is dead, it just means that it has reached a point when the cyclonic flow cannot be maintained any more and so it has smarts that mean it just stops. This means the battery isn't fully depleted. I understand that is a good thing with lithium batteries. Result: I have never and would never plug my Dyson in after every use, I always wait until it stops (vacuum in "dead" as you say Conor), charge it fully (until the lights go out) then unplug it.

    Toss the battery and give me a power cord. I have wall to wall carpet and cats. I get in the zone and go through the entire house at one go. That 7 mins wouldn't be enough to finish the stairs. They give you the low power option to give the illusion of a better battery. Wouldn't you want full power all the time? Is there sensitive flooring out there? The battery will always be a limiting factor.

    I'm in search of a vacuum for my semi truck. Do you think that this vacuum is a good option? I do have a short hair dog with me when I'm driving. I want something that's reliable and quality. I've seen adapters that allow you to use a cordless tool battery (DeWalt, Milwaukee, etc). If I were to use those batteries, would it damage the vacuum in the long term?

    I love my V8 but with the soft roller I’m finding that it’s blowing dirt away before the roller hits it. Have you had that issue or do you have a recommendation how to stop it. For instance I knocked over powdered laundry detergent and tried the roller to pick it up and it leaf blowered the powder across the room. Ended up just using the wand.

    • @nvgvup84

      I have a lot of trouble with the soft roller and animal hair. Hair will pass without being sucked up and get caught on the brushes on the sides and rear of the intake hole and the little wheels are constantly getting clogged with hair and they stop rolling as easily causing the head to pull to one side or the other I have been thinking about buying a replacement head as mine is pretty old and there might be some kind of wear but I dunno if that will actually fix it.

    in germany they dont sell the v11 outsize version but the updated v11 2020 model with changeable batteries. do you think its more powerful than previous model like outsize or the only change they made is the battery? i would really like the same power as outsize with a small bin.
