      Raptor honestly my friend it’s such a pleasure especially when I get beautiful kind comments like this all the time from you bro I love doing it so thank you for being so grateful and appreciative and complementing me on being good to my area. It’s funny because I think I know a lot more about my new hometown then I do my original hometown of Newport Beach. I love it. I moved here as I’ve told you and others for the snowfall and that’s it and I fall in love with the topography as well I didn’t necessarily care about the mountains or lake or anything like that just the snow falling from the sky was the happiest thing for me and I’m really happy that I’m enjoying a lot more than just that living here now thank you again raptor I hope you have a great day

      Chiliman my dogg. I am so happy to do these rides man you’re very welcome and unfortunately I don’t think there’s gonna be any videos for quite some time because I don’t have any reason to go down the mountain as well as there’s no snow in the forecast for quite some time there’s actually no snow in the forecast a few people have been really doing a lot of self educating regarding the weather patterns and helping me out a bunch which is really cool I love you guys so much and it seems like there’s going to be a major shift in the pattern in February and March but that’s what I heard about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks ago and through the beginning of February there is absolutely nothing on the radar but I’m hoping something happens sooner than later I need it big time. It’s good to hear from you Chiliman always a blessing to hear from you bro

      In my honest opinion the restaurants are hit and miss. It’s worth a shot though. Consistency is a big issue from my experience. There are a couple restaurants I can proudly promote.

    What a great drive, wow Mt San Gregornio looks beautiful. I hiked that mountain when I was in the boy scouts. Probably one of the hardest backpacking hikes I ever did, the San Bernadino mountains are awesome! Crossing my fingers for a wet pattern for SoCal next month. We might get more snow here in Charlotte on Friday night late- if so I will make sure to get my dog in camera on my snow ride LOL!! and post on my channel my brother! Stay safe

      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  Před 2 lety +2

      Dude that’s awesome you guys could get some more snow already that’s incredible actually just stay safe and I’m looking forward to your video Adam. I can’t believe in the Boy Scouts they took you guys all the way up to the top of San Gorgonio I’ve watched videos of other people hiking it and it looks unbelievably tough maybe for a pussy like me but it looks unbelievably tough. And parts of it look like a completely different mountain range. I hope you’re right about the pattern shift I’ve been hearing about it from a few of you guys and also been reading some articles about it on the Internet so I’m hoping it actually happens but they said it was supposed to start at the end of January and early February but there’s nothing on the radar there was something that popped up a couple days ago showing that in a week we might get a little tiny bit of snow but that disappeared already but it could come back so I’m hoping because they brought it up one time maybe it will happen in the meantime you stay safe Adam and take care my brother

      Steven it’s my pleasure bro. Thank you for leaving me such a nice comment. I’m telling you reading nice comments like this turned my day around. It’s such a blessing that came with this channel that I never realized would be here and so thank you very much for being in my life Steven I hope you have a wonderful rest of your night I love making these videos for you guys and as a matter fact when I got back into town I had to stop in Sugarloaf on the way home and that was the second reason I came up 38 was specifically for that. But I also came up 38 because the past two days I had taken the other main roads up the mountain and so I figured I might as well do the other one but this is my favorite one even though it does take longer than the others I think it’s the most beautiful drive. Have a good one my bro and thanks again for the nice comment

    Thank you for sharing. I was hesitant about driving to BIG BEAR LAKE. IF this route is safe going and coming, I may give it a try. You also mentioned another route that is even safer. Do you have a video of that route?

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  Před 4 měsíci +2

      I am so sorry for the late response. I sure do have a video of the other route as well. The other one is called Highway 18 on the backside through Lucerne Valley. Let me find it for you and I’ll leave you a link.
      That’s the easiest of all of them, but most people live on the other side of the mountain range so it takes a lot longer to get to that route on the backside
      Yes, Highway 38 even though it’s a little bit longer and that’s the video you’re watching now even though this is longer this is the route. I would send my mom especially in the spring and summertime. There’s not as many cliffs to fall off and it maintains a 55 mph speed limit with significantly less than the other routes.

      Bubba brother. Great to hear from you bro. I hope things are going great for you I’m a little bit bummed out we don’t have much snow this season but apparently there have been signs that we’re going to have a serious pattern shift in February through March I don’t know how they’re able to see that far out but I think there are a bunch of different things that have to come in to play and I think some of them are beginning so I’m hoping we have something good for February and March but right now on the ten-day forecast there’s nothing in the beginning of February at all. So I’m just keeping my fingers crossed bro and it’s once again great to hear from you Bubba. I’m gonna stay Irie in spirit. I had to give it up two months ago bro literally I’ve been burning since I was 13 years old and out of nowhere two months ago literally out of nowhere all of a sudden because of that stuff I was having the most severe panic attacks and I didn’t believe that it was the green at all and so the next day like usual I smoked again and it made me feel freaking terrible and like I was dying bro it’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever experienced and it was so scary I had no problem giving it up imagine how gnarly something like that Hass to be to give up smoking the ganga. So I’m bummed out that I don’t get to enjoy it anymore but I’m trying to find the positives in it and I don’t find many positives lol I hope you’re doing great Bubba

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  Před 2 lety +1

      You are hilarious mentioning Huell Howser I had never heard of him until just recently someone else on this channel mentioned him and mentioned me in the same sentence and so I ended up looking him up a little bit and my goodness I appreciate that I don’t know where I’ve been why I didn’t know about his series but thank you I take that as a compliment and you know what this is really showing people that I’m taking pride in the place where I live and I’m probably much more knowledgeable about Big Bear than I am of my own hometown of Newport Beach. All I really know about my hometown even though I lived there for almost 30 years is all the different famous people and what some of the areas used to be called etc. etc. just kind of stupid facts that nobody really cares about the pretentious stuff. I can’t wait to meet you someday I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun it would be really cool to rent a really massive house out here and have a bunch of you come out and stay for a few days I think that would be awesome I would cover the cost for the palace that we stay in you guys would just have to get yourselves here. Seriously the more I’m chatting with you guys the heavier my heart is growing for you guys and that’s a good heavy not the sad heavy I really care for you a lot and there are quite a few people on this channel who I really adore I love everybody here but some of you have been more impactful in terms of always being here for me always saying the nicest things to me and I really appreciate it a lot you’re awesome and I’m very lucky to have you here in my life I’ll never ever stop saying that because it’s the truth and as I was saying as I get off on all these tangents here as I was saying the more and more this channel goes on and the more and more beautiful comments people like you leave me it’s really beginning to make me have an unconditional love for you guys kind of like a real blood family relationship and I’m telling you that’s what I’ve been yearning for for a long time and I never ever felt it was possible to ever feel about anybody other than blood the same as blood so thank you for helping me to get there and I can’t wait till we have some snow I cannot wait until then I hope you guys miss me lol listen to that pompous self-righteous comment I just made. Hahahaha. I promise you I’ll joking aside I will never ever become that type of person because I’ve been the opposite of that most of my life but with all the love I’m getting from you guys I promise you it’ll never get to my head it’s only gonna make me a better man and make me realize that I am worth living and I am worth my weight

    5th grade science camp!! My son Alexander went to that last year where he saw snow for the first time. (we live in south OC--San Juan Capistrano area) they moved the science camp for our schools from Idyllwild area to Running Springs area (Camp Cedar Crest). He loved science camp though I was jealous I didn't get to go with him cause it looked so fun. Nature hikes every day, panning for gold, geology lessons, astronomy at night, and SNOW much fun.

      I grew up in Newport Beach and in six grade when I was going to Lincoln Elementary school they took us up to the Big Bear area. I think it was off of Highway 38 but it was a one week long astronomy type of a camp. It was really cool I think most schools do that. I wish I remembered where it was because I’ve always wanted to go visit that location. I had such a good time.

      Donald seriously bro I don’t know how I got so lucky to have people like you in my life but my friend Mr. Stephenson, you make me feel really good brother and I’ve only been up to that Mammoth area twice driving through Bishop the first time was during the 1996 and 1997 El Niño year it was my very first time in Mammoth my friend was a professional snowboarder and he taught me how to snowboard when we went up there I’ve been skiing for many years before that but I’m telling you white man it was the most incredible place I’ve ever been when it comes to snow and I used to live in Colorado for two years I went to boarding school out there and every Wednesday at the boarding school in the winter time would take us skiing and we would hit almost every resort you could imagine and still to this day mammoth and Copper Mountain are my favorite mountains ever. I wish I could do one season up in Mammoth or Lake Tahoe that would be so cool I would be so busy with the channel it would be so epic if I lived up there I guarantee you this channel would probably support my daily living because in a weird way I never expected google to send me money but sometimes I get on the 21st of some months a direct deposit from Google for the CZcams channel and it’s just unbelievable especially because I don’t ask people to subscribe or hit the like button or anything like that I want it to remain as authentic as possible even though my mom keeps on telling me she wants me to get out of the business that I’m in now and just try to have people subscribe and make a living doing that. So I’m considering it but I love the way the channel is and I don’t think I would have people like you here if it wasn’t so authentic like this so I want you to know I’m very grateful for you Donald and I am so wishing that I could do a season of this channel up there in the Sierras that would be so unbelievable
      Thank you for loving the videos bro I love your comments and I just love who you are man. Thank you for being so supportive of me and thank you for always leaving me just the nicest comments bro I wish you and your family the very best always and I just can’t even put into words how grateful I am for you I want nothing but happiness and success and health for you and your loved ones always bro thanks again Donald for being in my life and making me feel really good about myself

    I love it💕, yeah for no cliffs, I am amazed, my family had 2 different cabins and I only knew of the front and back way(of course i was 6yrs to 18yrs old). I just knew we took back way 98% of the time. We lived in Canoga Park, now West Hills and it was convenient to take San Fernando rd. To Sierra Hwy/Pearblossom Hwy/ hwy 18 then past the Kaiser plant up form Lucerne Valley. Our cabin was next to the forest in Sugarloaf, then later in BBC off Paradise by the city park. It took about 3hrs. Front way was faster, but I didnt like the turns. In the winter when it snowed, Baldwin lake always had water in it. Thanks for the tour. BYW your car sounds better😉

      Lisa you have no idea how happy it makes me that I can bring back some memories like this for people it’s amazing and I agree with you about the roads coming up here of course 330 to 18 is much faster but it’s also scarier much scarier I think especially like you said when there’s snow. Seriously I am so happy that I can bring back these memories for you you’re very fortunate you guys had a place of here are a few places different locations for 12 years on and off in the fact that you lived up in Sugarloaf next to the forest that is unbelievably awesome because that area gets so many bears up by the forest it’s just amazing. I am so happy to hear from you by the way and I’m glad you got to see a different route then you used to take all the time it’s amazing how quickly from the plants you can get up to big bear when there’s no traffic and there’s usually not that much traffic on that side of the mountain anyway but one of the years we had a lot of snow up here I recorded going up and down the back and it was insane the traffic was stopped all the way down past the plant it was horrible and I’m sure you’ll never forget the three switchbacks driving up and down Highway 18 on the backside that’s the scariest part of that road and it’s not even that scary but sometimes if there’s ice and snow even the best equipped vehicles will struggle on those switchbacks.
      Lisa I am so happy to hear from you and I am so glad that I can bring back some fond memories for you I have some pretty amazing memories of a kid growing up visiting these mountains from Newport Beach from about 10 years old till almost 15 we had a house in Lake arrowhead so we were always taking Highway 18 Waterman Ave. up every single time the whole time we had that house we never came up Highway 330 it was always Highway 18 and then in sixth grade we had a field trip that lasted one week. It was in astronomy type of a camp and I think most of the schools in Southern California actually participate in that and it was really cool because I only thought there was one way up to big bear or Lake arrowhead and when we drove up Highway 38 I didn’t recognize anything because I had never been on that road and it felt like I didn’t know where I was it seemed like a whole different area but it was really great I miss those times of my life it was the happiest time of my life I’ve traveled the world a couple times I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to do that in my younger days and still to this day my best favorite memories are being with my family coming up to Lake arrowhead. Once again I’m really glad that I could bring some nostalgia into your life that makes me really happy and that’s another bonus of this channel that I’m able to bring back good memories for people I never even considered that so it’s a beautiful thing and I’m very grateful that I can do that for you. And definitely heck yeah for no cliffs lol it’s not completely no cliffs there’s a few but it’s not nearly what it’s like driving at 3:30 or even on Highway 18 on the rim of the World Highway part of it.
      Do you have a great rest of your night

    Highway 38 is the way we always go up and down to Redlands. 45 minutes to an hour. Then another hour to Lawndale. A lot of slow drivers won’t move over. There is one section that has burned trees.

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  Před 2 lety +1

      I couldn’t believe how many of the trees were burned in that area it was amazing I forgot about those fires obviously I’ve lived in big Bear since those fires happened but I completely forgot about it I remember for days at a time our sky was completely brown and red and the smoke was so thick. It gets very scary it really does and you take about the same amount of time to get up to the top as I do and Highway 38 truly is one of the worst routes in terms of people not being considerate of faster traffic. I’m glad you don’t think I’m a jerk for talking about that it’s just really irritating when there are signs all over the place and so much area to pull over on Highway 38 for people to get out of your way but they don’t and sometimes people tell me I’m a jerk for saying things like that and I just don’t understand why I’m a jerk I thought the jerk would be the person not following the road signs and not even calling them a jerk actually just not paying attention I’m very cognizant of my driving and I’m very considerate of other people to a detriment sometimes if somebody is on my ass I end up sometimes panicking and that’s why I tell you guys never to drive faster when people are on your tail because I know most of us are really nice people and we don’t want to hold anybody up so we will end up hitting the gas to appease the impatient people behind us but impatient or not we need to be the ones who pull over to let them by. But you got a lot of people who have a member measuring contest driving up the mountain and they don’t wanna let anybody pass. Because it might hurt their ego and you see that all the time for me it’s very frustrating especially because these are the only roads I drive on all the time maybe not necessarily Highway 38 but I used to all the Time Dr., Highway 38 and all the mountain roads Craig it’s good to hear from you bro I’m glad you enjoyed the video

I bet security even back then was insane but I can’t imagine how nuts it is now it was 2008 when I was out there in Augusta and it was so shocking to me driving up to make that turn down the driveway where the security gate is I expected it to be a big open palatial type of space but it was like the smallest little road if I remember correctly I didn’t expect it to be so nonchalant like that but when I peaked through the fence driving by I could see that beautiful drive that they always show during the masters. It felt unbelievable I had butterflies in my stomach it was so cool and yes I thought I did tell you about my dad he was actually chief psychiatrist at Baldwin state prison in Milledgeville how crazy is that? Anyway my friend you just made me feel so happy just thinking about the fact that you got to play even if it was just one hole or even just on the property that’s amazing to me that is truly amazing to me that’s a bucket list thing that most people wouldn’t even get to do if they tried. My dad had a friend who ended up passing away but his friend was actually a member at Augusta and I never knew anybody who was a member there or who would ever even played there it’s like the most exclusive of exclusive resorts in terms of golf and my goodness I am so jealous of you that you got to do that and the fact that you lived right there holy crap that must’ve been insane since you lived right behind it I’m sure you could hear the crowds going crazy while you were there living there that must’ve been so cool growing up in Newport Beach once we moved off of the water because I lived right on the water we moved inland about a half a mile where Newport Beach country club is and I became a junior executive member there it was only $5000 and 225 quarterly for food and beverage regularly I think it’s about $60,000 for the membership but if you’re 29 years old or younger it’s $5000 and then you have to pay your monthly fees which I think we’re $450 or something like that but I was a junior executive member however when we moved off of a little tiny island on the water we moved into a neighborhood that was right on the golf course the Newport Beach country club and that’s where they had and still have the Toshiba Senior classic. I got to see Jack Nicholas an Arnold Palmer in the same group walking together and playing it was just unbelievable absolutely unbelievable and Mark Calcavecchia actually stayed at my parents house one time just crazy stuff man anyway it’s always good to hear from you bro and I’m gonna be wishing snow for you guys so awesome that you guys got a couple inches of snow that actually stuck

And we have something in common already off the start first of all super cool free to leave me a comment like that I’m glad that I can make people have some nostalgic memories and stuff like that but when you mentioned Anaheim I was born at Anaheim General Hospital and I’m 41 years old and the crazy thing is the Doctor Who delivered me is still delivering babies there at least as of two years ago and I always wanted to go back and say hello to the guy the first person to ever see me on this planet but yeah it was Anaheim General Hospital where I was born and I grew up in Newport Beach absolutely amazing how cool is that that you were raised in Anaheim. I feel like the reason I’ve loved Disneyland my whole life is because I was born in Anaheim I know that’s got zero correlation but I feel like I like Disneyland more than most people and it’s because I was born in Anaheim lol
      I hope you’re enjoying your time in Nevada my friend Las Vegas is such a fun place I’ve had some pretty crazy times in Las Vegas was set in Vegas and done in Vegas stays in Vegas lol and seriously a lot of my activities out there we’re not things that I can talk about lol but I’ll tell you a man what a great great great time I always had out there and even just the drive for some reason I love the drive out there hanging out with my friends and just talking and having fun on the way out there it was always so nice we would always stop at state line and go on that roller coaster I really miss those days when I could go out there a lot even though it wasn’t a lot it was maybe once a year.
      So storms a brewing I’ve only lived here for 7 1/2 years as I said I grew up in Newport Beach but funny enough I was born in Anaheim and I think the restaurant you’re referring to is called teddy bears I could be totally wrong but what you mentioned about the fantastic burgers and huge steaks I think that’s the restaurant but I could be wrong. Thank you for sharing with me some of the stuff my friend I’m really grateful for you people like you are what make this channel so unbelievably awesome. If you’ve been watching for any time at all you probably realized that I’m probably the only CZcamsr who never asks people to subscribe and hit the like button even though my mom is begging me to do that because she wants me to get out of the business I’m in now and focus on CZcams but I told her if it ever becomes a job for me I’ll probably lose interest but I created this channel originally because of my depression and when I moved up to Big Bear the only reason I moved here was for the snowfall because my family exiled me for the most part and so I had nobody and nothing and I at least wanted to die in a place that was comfortable and being in the snow was happy for me always as a kid my parents had a house in Lake arrowhead so from Newport Beach we would travel up to Lake arrowhead a couple times per year to spend time there and then we would drive up from Lake arrowhead to big Bear to go skiing but I moved up here for the snow and to help my depression knew if I recorded the snowstorms then I can watch them whenever I’m feeling really down and it would make me feel better so that’s when I decided right when I moved up here that I’ll record the snow storms but then I had a problem I couldn’t afford a thumb drive and these videos sometimes are very long so I knew it would cost me probably thousands of dollars to get enough memory to keep all my videos on and I got a bright idea thinking I’m being really smart I thought hey you know what i’ll post these videos on CZcams and use CZcams as a free cloud. And the only reason I made the videos public at the beginning was because selflessly I wanted to be able to help other people if watching it snow would help me I figured it’s got to be able to help somebody but at the same time I never imagined anybody would watch the channel or subscribe. So after all this time I have a lot of subscribers now and it’s just a beautiful thing I never imagined where this channel would take me and I have to tell you I feel so blessed for what it has become and it’s very authentic and I get people like you on this channel who seems super super cool and genuine and I love that about this channel as I said I don’t beg people to subscribe hit the like button or ring the notification bell or anything like that at least not yet and I almost have 3000 videos over 7 1/2 years but yeah my friend that’s the only reason I created the CZcams channel was because I couldn’t afford any thumb drives to save all my videos and I’m telling you White what a blessing it has been you guys have really impacted my life more than you’ll ever understand as I said if you’ve been following me for a long time on this channel then you’ll know I’ve gone through some pretty severe mental issues just very bad depression and I really honestly think without you guys I wouldn’t be here anymore and I’m not using any hyperbole I’m being totally honest so I truly owe each and every single one of you my life. You guys have done so much to make me feel good about myself and I truly can’t thank you enough for being here for me even though you’re probably fairly new on this channel I am so thankful for you my friend and I really hope you continue to be a part of my life and a part of this channel and you’ll start to see that there are a bunch of awesome people here it’s pretty amazing how many people are so caring and say the nicest things. John holy crap man I appreciate you asking about him so he ended up completely being a tool man. There were a few different issues but he ultimately didn’t care about anybody but himself and his main focus was on females which I’m OK with that but when you diss your best friend all the time for a chick that’s kind of lame and no that’s not the only reason my friend I’m not that much of a kook. They were just very many small things that added up to become one huge thing. And it’s very sad because I love the guy to death I know deep down he’s got a really good heart but very deep down and I was trying to help him as much as I could because when our friendship ended he had just got signed to the bareknuckle fighting championships as their number one Prospect and he had so many goals to be able to go back to Ohio and spend a lot of time with his kids etc. etc. And I wanted to support him the best I could to help him out because I know children are the most important thing and I wanted to always be there for him. I would do so much for him I would help him when he was absolutely flat on his face down but that’s what friends do then we would always hang out we were always hanging out and he lived here also so I have a tiny little house 450 ft.² but we got along so great and he would train me and just be a very cool respectful guy typically. And he was somebody that I always wanted to be like because he was an army ranger he did three full tours in Afghanistan he was also part of some group that jumps out of airplanes all the time in the military he was one of the most respected people in that field and he made a lot of money he works at the Mitsubishi plant or actually not the Mitsubishi plant at the bottom of the hill but right past the Mitsubishi plant there’s another big plant and he was their master electrician and it was cool because all the time he would send me a little short video clips of the things that he’s doing at work and this stuff looks so insane but the point is he had an incredible work ethic but whenever snatch got involved nothing else in his life mattered except gash. So as I said there were a lot of little things that ended up adding up and because I love the guy to death and he was my best friend those things ended up really hurting and it just seemed like he didn’t have the ability to see that kind of like a narcissistic type of an attitude even though in many ways he didn’t show that. And he’s burned a lot of bridges up here for similar situation. As I said I’m not someone who’s going to hate on a guy because he gets all the chicks but the way that he would act and as I said it was a bunch of stupid things little small things but they all added up so it was just quite a bummer. When it came to paying me for his bills and stuff like that he was always very responsible make sure everything was taken care of so there were no issues like that he was a very standup guy like that but I don’t know if all the blows to the head and his severe PTSD came into it I’m sure it did so that’s why I couldn’t after the fact take it too personally but he’s not dumb and he could’ve treated me a lot better as a friend especially for everything that I did for him not that I expect him to to say how high when I say jump not at all not one bit that’s not what I’m saying at all I just wanted the respect that I deserved and as I said every time there would be a chick that would come into his life I got treated like a piece of shit not in the way that it sounds but stupid things like my 40th birthday we had planned to do things he didn’t even contact me on my birthday he was at his girlfriends house and then the next day when I called him on it he acted like it wasn’t that big of a deal and gave a half hearted apology but it’s many things like that one time for my other CZcams channel I stay in five star hotels and I fly first class and I record the whole thing and so we were staying at the Waldorf Astoria and I had a bunch of family there because it was an orange county and so they were going to visit and hang out with me while I was there and my mom has met my best friend a couple times but because my brothers are big UFC fans and MMA fans they really wanted to meet him because as I said this guy who was my best friend was literally just the gnarliest man ever the type of guy everybody wants to be like but can’t. So he embarrassed me by not showing up and as I said it’s just a bunch a little things like that but they all added up and it seems like in every situation whenever he gets out of it what he needs he bounces. One of our mutual best friends is my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach. And he did the same thing to Jovan and it just wasn’t cool when Jovan threw him out on his ass on Christmas day I made sure I gave Nick a place because I felt so terrible about what was happening and I believed everything he was telling me and it’s not like he was lying but he just didn’t take responsibility the way that he should have for his actions and why Jovan got so upset with him so anyway I always gave him the benefit of the doubt and it always came back to bite me in the ass but that’s what happened and it really hurts man because I know the guys got a good heart but he just doesn’t know how to act and yes I do understand he’s got severe post traumatic stress syndrome and he’s talk to me about all the things that he’s been through in the military not everything because I don’t like him to have to talk about it but he would share some pretty crazy stuff with me that he’s never shared with anybody else and some of this stuff my friend would give me nightmares for months on end just hearing about what he went through but having to go through it actually I just can’t imagine somebody having to go through what he went through and being so tough and fighting through all of that it’s just amazing to me and so I had a lot of respect for him but he doesn’t know how to treat people and that’s what happened as I said I know it sounds like I’m being a little bitch right now but I want you to understand that I am only human and my feelings are really hurt as I said especially for going so far out of the way for the guy and doing everything I could to make sure he was OK and to make sure that he was going to have an opportunity to thrive. John I appreciate you asking bro that’s a really cool question man I’m glad you care. So you would reccomend this route for a first timer driving up during snow showers as safe? vs the 330

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  Před 2 lety +2

      90% of the time I absolutely would this is the way I have my mom drive up here and she is 79 years old she is the most important person in my whole life by 1 million times so I definitely would suggest this once in a while you can get a little more snow on this route though at the very top because you’re also driving at the highest point in the San Bernardino national Forest at 8414 feet.
      At the summit called Onyx Summit that is the highest point at least for the roads in San Bernardino national Forest but that side of the mountain range typically gets less snowfall but because of the elevation sometimes they can get hit pretty good. The reason I think it’s the best route for safety even though it’s about 7 miles further than any other route is because it doesn’t have as many drop offs if you accidentally drive off the road there are a few areas where if you lose control and go off the side you’re gonna be in big trouble but it’s nothing like Highway 330 or the other part of Highway 18. I only want you guys to be safe so it’s kind of a roll of the dice but if I had the choice or the option to choose I would choose Highway 38 as I said it is a bit longer of a drive but besides there being less chance of falling off the cliffs there’s also less traffic typically not always but most of the time. Taking Highway 330 the only thing that I see safe about that when we have snow is you’ll be stuck in traffic and being stuck in traffic believe it or not as annoying as that is is pretty safe because the risk of sliding off the road and falling off the mountain is pretty slim. As I said you’ll get to Big Bear much quicker on Highway 330 but all I want for you guys is to be safe so you can have a good time when you get here.
      The safest route you can take to big bear is actually Highway 18 on the backside through Lucerne Valley. In one of these videos I did during this same week I had to go up and down the mountain on that road and you’ll see it only took me I think 9 1/2 minutes to get from the bottom to the top there’s only one part of Highway 18 on the backside which is difficult it’s a back to back to back switch back if there’s any ice or snow down at that level those little switchbacks can be kind of tough because they are really steep 180° turns. But most of the time even when we have snow in big bear there’s not much ice or snow down at that level but it does happen but that’s the only little thing you need to look for driving up from the back and if you decide to do that just take the 15 freeway through the mountain range through the Cajon pass and once you get up to the top of the 15 freeway it’s about another 10 miles or so until you hit a road called Bear Valley Road the way I’ve always remembered Bear Valley Rd. is since I live in Big Bear it just was really easy to remember Bear Valley Rd. even though Bear Valley Rd. has nothing to do with Big Bear. Bear Valley Road is in Victorville and Apple Valley. Once you exit Bear Valley Rd. you’ll turn right and just stay on that until it dead ends at Highway 18 you’ll turn right on Highway 18 and just keep your eye on the signs because Highway 18 actually turns off of that road once you get into Lucerne Valley if you’re not paying attention and you stay straight on Highway 18 Highway 18 turns into Highway 247 so once you get to Lucerne Valley focus on the street signs because you’ll have to make a right turn to stay on Highway 18 it’s kind of confusing but if you know that this is happening it’s gonna be very simple for you. As I said once you’re at the bottom of the mountain on Highway 18 on the backside you’ll be right next to the Mitsubishi cement plant I think it’s a cement plant and from that point it only takes without any snow about 10 minutes to get up to the top and you’ll be coming in near Baldwin lake which is a part of big bear city.
      I hope this helped you my friend I appreciate the question I hope you’re having a wonderful day sorry it took so long to get back to you I’m usually up till two or three in the morning anyway but I fell asleep about midnight.
      You take care of my friend and I hope you have a safe journey getting up here.
      Once again the most important thing for me when it comes to you guys making sure you guys are safe. I want you to enjoy yourself when you’re up here I don’t want you to have a nightmare. And lastly for the final time if we have a snowstorm I would usually have my mom come up Highway 38 but honestly if we’re having a snowstorm I don’t have her drive up here at all. And most of the time I will drive down to Orange County and pick her up and drive her up here because she never drives when she’s up here I take her everywhere so it’s kind of pointless for her to have her car and definitely pointless to have her drive up here when we have bad weather but yes I hope this helps you out my friend and I wish you a beautiful rest of your day I’m sorry for such a long ass message

Well hello again and thank you for the beautiful words again you are such a cool person I really appreciate you very much so this camera is actually part of my iPhone and unfortunately I’m not using my newest iPhone I have a really weird compulsion and almost like an obsessive compulsive disorder with things so because I don’t want to ruin my new phone because I just bought the iPhone 13+ with 1 TB of memory most expensive phone I ever think I would buy in my life including the AppleCare with theft protection it was $1970 but there’s a cool application that you can use where you don’t have to pay the full amount right away you just pay a quarter of it upfront and then every two weeks you pay another quarter of it and that worked out for me but this is not the iPhone nine or iPhone X I don’t even think there was an iPhone nine or was there? But it’s the small phone in between like the X something I’m gonna look it up right now. OK I just looked it up it’s the iPhone SE. And I like it because it’s a smaller iPhone even though the camera isn’t quite as good as the new ones it’s still records in 4K and it fits in my pocket nicely because I’m 5 foot six so I’m not too tall and saw those big phones really take up a lot of space in my pockets I’m assuming that the longer the pants maybe the larger the pockets might be I have no idea but I’ve been a Little dude all my life lol. During big storms it’s really pick your poison. From Redlands, it should take you without any storms an hour if you hop on the 210 freeway and get off on the 330 and take that all the way up to Highway 18 by the time you get to Big Bear it’ll be about an hour maybe an hour and 10 minutes
      If you take Highway 38 it might be a few minutes longer maybe 15 or 20 minutes longer From Redlands
      But yes, it is gonna be dangerous especially with so much flowing water. It doesn’t take much to dislodge your car from the road so I just really hope you are extra careful my friend.

      Ted my man. It’s very nice to hear from you brother I hope you’re doing great I hope life is going good for you I hope you’re staying healthy and I hope everything is going good for you I hope your family is well.
      So unfortunately even though a couple weeks ago there was a lot of meteorologist saying that there’s going to be a major pattern shift in Southern California at the end of January through February and March unfortunately when I look at the forecast every day the chance is even lower lately than it has been usually will have a 10% or 15% chance most days which means that nothings going to happen but for the next 12 days it shows 0% which is quite a bummer there is one meteorologist around here who is saying there’s a possibility that today we could get a couple showers due to a special anomaly in our area and I’ll tell you what it does look pretty cloudy outside but unfortunately there’s really absolutely nothing in the forecast and it’s really sad thank goodness I don’t try to grow this CZcams channel thank goodness it’s not my main source of income and I hope you really appreciate that I don’t ask people to subscribe or hit the like button at least I haven’t started doing that yet after 7 1/2 years but my mom really wants me too and I always listen to my mom but I love the authenticity of the channel I love how people are here because they want to be here not because they feel sorry for me begging them to subscribe and hit the like button every single video. But unfortunately once again there’s nothing on the radar as I said there is a slightest chance for a drizzle today but on all the weather forecast that I look at it shows 0% chance of anything happening today and that’s literally the worst we can get obviously but looking outside right now it looks pretty cloudy and a little bit dark so if something happens you know I’ll be recording. As far as the pattern shift in our weather I’m staying hopeful because a lot of you guys have done your own research and gotten back to me on this. And because some of you spend a lot of time really doing good research I have hope that something will change and also because February and March are technically the wettest months of the year here technically according to data and statistical data. So sadly I don’t see anything happening and once again there’s nothing in the forecast every single day is showing 0% chance of anything and as I said even typically on the two week forecast typically it’ll show some days 5% chance or 10% which typically means nothing absolutely zero but it’s not even showing that little bit amount it’s showing absolutely 0% chance so I’m a bit sad and as I said it would make me a lot more sad if I was trying to grow the CZcams channel and get more people to watch because if we don’t get any weather then I wouldn’t have any people to subscribe and enjoy the channel I love this channel I love what I do it’s a passion of mine and I love you guys with all my heart but I just feel weird about asking people to subscribe and stuff like that even though it’s not a bad thing I’ve never seen another CZcams channel that doesn’t ask people literally I’ve never found one CZcams channel that doesn’t say hit the subscribe button hit the like button and hit the notification bell.
      Anyway sorry I get off on these tangents like that. Ted I really hope you’re doing great bro and yes as you were mentioning the other side of the US is absolutely getting hammered I believe there’s a major nor’easter going up the eastern Coast of this country. And last week they got hit really good as well I’m just really sad because I created this channel when I moved up here because I moved here for the snow specifically that’s the only reason and I couldn’t afford a thumb drive or anything to save my videos so that’s why I was thinking I was being smart by putting my videos on CZcams’s cloud. Since it’s free to store your videos on CZcams so it’s quite a bummer because I look forward to this time of year every summer literally counting down the days until we could get our first snowfall which typically will be November but it’s been very very sad and such a bummer especially for tourism. The tourists come up here for the snow as well there’s not really many other reasons why they come up here. And so we truly depend on snowfall to bring in a big amount of money to this town this town has a very unique charm about it but the charm comes in my perspective when we have snow.
      Once again my friend Ted I am sorry that I go off on tangents and sometimes I leave extraordinarily long messages but you guys are my family and I’m comfortable chatting with you guys and getting all my thoughts out there.
      I hope you’re staying safe I remember when I was in Amsterdam I was there for two weeks and every single day it seems like it was cloudy and not the best weather I enjoyed it a lot I was there from November 14 to November 28 back in the year 2000 I loved it so much I absolutely loved it. Stayed at Hotel Victoria on Damrak street across from centraal station. You live in such a beautiful part of the world I miss it very much especially because my father flew out there to be there with me because I was 20 years old and my friend was supposed to go with me but at the last minute he couldn’t go and my dad didn’t want me to go by myself and so he flew out there to meet me and I had a wonderful time with him I really miss that time of my life it was such a special time for me. I wish you a wonderful rest of your day a wonderful rest of your weekend and thank you for the question my friend Ted I really wish I had a better answer for you.

      Hey Jamal how are you doing brother? So I’m gonna have to think about what would be a good address for you to put in.
      So I found a restaurant in a town called Angeles Oaks on Highway 38 on the way up to big bear this will take you to Highway 38. Just check it first kind of go over the whole GPS and just make sure that it’s taking you that direction I don’t see how it would take you any other way but I’ll leave you the address and let me know what it does for you but it should take you right there on Highway 38 and then obviously just stay on that all the way to big bear.
      Angeles Oaks Restaurant
      37676 CA-38
      Angeles Oaks, CA 92305
      I sure hope that helps also there’s another town on Highway 38 on the way to big bear called “Forest Falls”
      And then another way to get there for sure is take the 10 freeway obviously in the direction of Redlands and Mentone so if you’re coming from Los Angeles it would be the 10 south. You wanna get off on Orange Avenue there’s another way to get there but it’s a lot tougher directions
      10 freeway south to Orange Avenue in Redlands California. Make a left-hand turn on Orange Avenue and then you’ll drive up about 3/4 of a mile maybe a whole mile at most I think and then you’ll come to a street called Lagonia/ Lugonia
      ( can’t remember how it’s spelled ) You’ll make a right-hand turn on Lagonia and on that corner of Orange and Lagonia on the right hand side is 7-Eleven. Lagonia/ Lugonia actually turns into Highway 38.
      I really hope I’m not confusing you I’m sure the first address I gave you will be perfect. I once you get to that address you just keep on going on Highway 38 until you get all the way to big Bear.
      But as I said another way is the 10 freeway south if you’re coming from Riverside or Los Angeles and then exit on Orange Avenue in Redlands make a left-hand turn on Orange Avenue and not too far up there’s a stoplight called Lagonia/ Lugonia you’ll turn right on that street Lagunia/ Lugonia ( there’s a 7-Eleven on the right hand side at that cross street of Orange and Lugonia ) and as I said Laconia turns into Highway 38 about five or 6 miles up the road so just stay on Lagonia all the way to big bear. I really hope this helps my friend I feel like I’m confusing the hell out of you but let me know type in that address for Angeles Oaks and I hope you have a safe drive it’s such a beautiful drive my friend

    Nikk there’s a gas station on the way to Redlands that has gas for $4 .39 on Orange. It’s near freeway.

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  Před 2 lety +1

      The only reason why I know exactly where that gas station is is because it’s next to one of my favorite Mexican restaurants ever Alberto‘s not only is it my favorite Mexican food but the salsa there I’ve literally driven down the mountain because there’s a place in big Bear that makes the bean and cheese burritos very similar even though that’s not all I eat at Mexican restaurants I eat everything but for particularly my bean and cheese burritos one of the restaurants up here makes them similar to Alberto‘s just really greasy and phenomenal and I’ve come all the way down there and gotten a bunch of salsa for my burritos if you can believe it and then turned around and went back up. I used to drive down to In-N-Out 3 to 5 days a week and it was pretty easy because my first couple years living here I was so miserable being alone and not having anybody in my life that every night after work when I was working at Radio Shack and Dominos I would use money I didn’t have to put gas in my car and literally drive around the mountain range every single night just about as I said about five nights a week some very slow weeks about three but I would drive down Highway 18 on the front take the Cajon Pass to the backside and go up Highway 18 and then the next night I would drive down Highway 38 and then drive sometimes to the Cajon pass again and then get off in the middle of the Cajon pass at the Wrightwood exit and take that to Silverwood Lake and take Highway 138 up to Crestline and take those roads up to Highway 18 and then take the front side all the way back in this is what I did all the time and I would listen to classical music the whole time. Someday I’ll sing for you guys you guys will be very surprised even though I like rock ‘n’ roll music a lot I love all genres of music and I can sing anything from Josh Groban to Andrea Bocelli and in different languages as well and people say I sing very well and it’s not just my friends people invite me to come singing up here and people would actually show up just to see me seeing on karaoke nights it was the weirdest thing and every time I would start seeing everyone would stop what they’re doing and get out their cameras and start recording me it was the coolest thing ever but enough about me lol yes I know which gas station you’re talking about I think it’s the one catty corner from Alberto‘s if it’s not then it’s the one on the other side of the freeway just on the other side of the freeway about 1 1/2 blocks in Craig thank you so much for that do you know what’s interesting for the longest time since I’ve lived here we’ve typically had cheaper gas in big bear than down the hill and that always surprised me but even when we don’t have snow I fill up my car about every three or four days just living in Big Bear and not leaving town very often at all these last two days when I went up and down the mountain a few times that’s the only time I’ve done that in months anyway Craig good to hear from you bro as always I hope you’re having a wonderful night I hope you’re getting to travel as often as you have then I remember you went to San Diego a few weeks ago when you came up to Big Bear about a week or two ago so I hope you are continuing to do your travels I hope your girlfriend is doing well and I hope everything in your life is going great my friend I was telling somebody else that I want to get the really good friends on this channel together and treat you guys to a big mansion in big bear for a few days everyone just has to find their way here but I think that would be something awesome as I said I’ll pay for it but for the out of towners they would have to fly in and I’ve been trying to communicate with some people just as of today about that idea so I’m wondering what you think what you and your girlfriend would be willing to do if you guys want to come up here when I do that I don’t know if it would be this next summer or something like that but I’m telling you I think it would be very awesome to do something like that because we become a family and relationships the older I get not having many people in my life I’m beginning to realize how important they are and getting through life alone it’s been miserable for me and I don’t wanna continue living in misery because I feel like I have something to offer people and offer the world in terms of making people feel good about themselves and others do that for me as well so let me know what you think about that and I’m not a party animal as you know I haven’t had a drink in 8 1/2 years and I even quit smoking the green a couple months ago so I’m pretty much just high on life all the time at least whenever I’m feeling good and thanks again Craig I hope you have a wonderful night dude

For one year I lived in Redlands it’s a long story why but I used to go to that Trader Joe’s once in a while and parts of Redlands down there are actually unbelievably pretty you have to go in Redlands pretty deep but it’s absolutely gorgeous up on Garden Street and a couple other streets there’s so much I guess you could say all the money and just all beautiful houses it’s a really nice gem of the inland empire. Not many people realize how beautiful a lot of Redlands really is because they consider the surrounding areas. But it’s one of the most beautiful places with its own unique beauty I think in the state. I really like the old architecture it’s truly a beautiful place I don’t know if you’ve ever spent much time in Redlands but there is some really beautiful areas there. • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  Před 10 měsíci +1

      That’s a great question Tim. Your name is very similar to one of my favorite heavyweight UFC fighters from about a decade ago.
      So check it out. My mom is 81 years old and this is the route that I sent her because it’s the safest as far as I’m concerned, not as many winding turns, and not as many cliffs to fall off.
      It is definitely a longer drive definitely the longest of them all but I don’t know if it’s much more than five or six or 7 miles further than the other rides or I should say drives
      But again for safety this is the one that I suggest however, there is one caveat Tim Even though when you get to the very top at onyx summit, it’s a part of the mountain range that doesn’t get as much snow sometimes because of its elevation it’ll get absolutely walloped and it can be a bit dangerous but for the most part again, this is the route I send my mom because I love her so much and I don’t want her to risk anymore than necessary
      And Tim the fastest route would be Highway 330 to Highway 18
      I hope this helps my brother and I hope you’re having a wonderful day. Thank you for the question. I hope to hear back from you again in the future.

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  Před 10 měsíci +1

      And I guess I didn’t directly answer your question. I believe this is the better route, but it is very subjective some people like taking 330 because you have much better views all the way out to the coast this route in the video it feels like you’re actually in the middle of a big mountain range. That’s what I love about it.

    So, in the winter, if the weather is not bad and the roads are clear will they still be stopping people to check for chains? Is it random or is it like a checkpoint where everybody gets checked?

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  Před 2 lety +2

      That’s a wonderful question that’s a very good question so they’ll never ever ever be there to have you put on tire chains if the weather is not bad like that so if it’s a perfectly clear day they’re not gonna try to trick you if it hasn’t snowed in a couple weeks and you’re driving up during a 60° beautiful day not a cloud in the sky they will not stop you to tricky like that so I think that’s a darn good question though I really really like that question a lot because I never thought about that so I appreciate that very much the only time it would ever be an issue is if there is a big snowstorm then they do have a checkpoint that is permanently at one spot and if it starts snowing at a lower elevation heavy then they lowered the checkpoint to another level down below and there will always be California Highway Patrol and Caltrans there
      So if the roads are clear you’ll be fine and obviously you know you can watch my videos so you can see the roads yourself I try to take the main roads most of the time so people can see where they’re going and see what the roads are like near where the location they expect to go.
      Once again thank you for that great question Tallie

      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  Před 2 lety +1

      Is that what it was called? Bro seriously I’m like getting goosebumps right now thinking about it it was I think Monday through Friday it was a school week and they had probably if I remember about eight or 10 little cabins obviously the boys slept with the boys and the girls slept with the girls but I had a girlfriend that I made up there lol her name is Laura I’ll never forget it I didn’t think I had a chance in hell and she actually liked me and I couldn’t believe it this was sixth grade. But I remember the drive up to get to that camp on the school bus was so much different than what I was used to because as a kid my mom had a house in Lake arrowhead from the point I was 10 years old till about 15 years old and every time we would go to the lake arrowhead house we were always getting off on Waterman Avenue and taking Highway 18 in the whole way. I had never ever been on Highway 330 all the times that I had been up to big Bear nor had I ever been on Highway 38 so when we were going up to big Bear I was excited because I knew it was near Lake arrowhead and I had gone skiing and big bear all the time from Lake arrowhead we would drive there from our Lake arrowhead house to go skiing and driving up Highway 38 I thought I would recognize everything and it was completely different it felt like we were in a different mountain range but I knew we were still going to big bear so it had to be the same mountain range I don’t know if you remember if you’re my age or a little bit younger I’m not sure but I’m 41 and in 1990 for a few years I always remember about halfway up Highway 18 in one of the big valleys around one of the big turns there was a huge huge huge sign that said,” don’t buy Subaru ask an unhappy owner why.” Haha
      Every time we would drive up to Lake arrowhead I would always look for that sign and as I said it was a huge sign I’m sure it got burned down in one of the fires that’s probably why it’s not there anymore and obviously things have changed for Subaru over the many years but do you remember seeing that sign? If you do I’m gonna be so blown away as I said it was about halfway up the mountain maybe a little bit more than halfway up and it was in the middle of one of the big valleys where there’s a big drop off kind of almost up to that restaurant that hangs out on the cliff at the very top but it’s that’s probably about half way up to 3/4 of the way up as I said the things that we remember as kids are so strange sometimes I wonder why I remember that so deeply and so clearly but it’s those little things man that really made my nostalgia for this place great.
      Steven I apologize about leaving you a damn novel instead of just a response lol I go off on the craziest tangents bro. I’m sure you probably want to go to sleep soon and now you’re have an hour long comment to read. Hahahaha. Good night my brother from another mother and I think that’s what the camp was called I can’t remember at all but it makes sense being called Astrocamp

      Hi Mili. So it’s not looking too good for any snow to come from the sky unfortunately but we should still have a little bit of snow left over from the last snow storms that we’ve had and if you’re going skiing or snowboarding it’ll be nice conditions because the ski resorts make snow almost every night at least when we have freezing temperatures which is pretty much every night this time of year. I know there’s a possibility for a little bit of snow maybe in a week or so but I don’t even see it on the radar anymore on the forecast so unfortunately I’m not too optimistic about it but I will hope for snow for you when you come up here but honestly I’m not thinking there’s gonna be much and probably nothing falling from the sky.
