We make literally 100’s of chocolate dipped candies and the best way we have found to melt the chocolate is to use a crockpot. Leave it on warm and you never have to worry about reheating. I am going to make your peppermint patties this year they sound amazing. We dip pretzels, those jelly orange slices, home made coconut balls, marshmallow Christmas trees the list goes on and on. When we are all done and have left over melted chocolate we dump right into the crock pot, peanuts, crunched up pretzels, mini marshmallows and then stir it up good and then drop those by tablespoon onto your waxed paper. Thank you for the peppermint patty recipe the family is going to love them!
It’s been years since I’ve made these, probably won’t be making any until I retire. I use to make these along with chocolate covered cherries, multi flavored chocolate covered candies. One of my favorites was maple flavored and another was orange. I loved making holiday candy… Bless you and thank you. Love y’all!❤
I have made these before with a different recipe without condensed milk and it was so good too. These look amazing.
Thank you so mucy.
So beautiful video, Thank you for sharing
Tammy, thank you for All The Wonderful holiday recipes!
I'm having surgery on Dec 21st, and trying to get some holiday goodies like homemade candies and some different types of cookies made to give out, and to have at home for any visitors ahead of time !!
Wishing You, Chris, and Your Loved Ones A Most Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year !!
🙏🙏❤️❤️🎄🎊
Genevieve from Albuquerque, NM 😘
Wishing you a quick recovery after your surgery ledzepgirl.❤
I never thought about making them homemade! I love this. Sometimes the mints at the store are too strong for me. I love that I can control how much mint is in it. ❤ Thank you.
These look absolutely delicious I love peppermint patties can't wait to try these.
Love mint❣️. They look YUMMY❣️❣️❣️
Easy recipe. Thanks for sharing. Love your mixer!
I love the mints also. I use to do weddings cakes, years ago ❤
Yum yummy 😋
Momma memories are the best! Especially at Christmas!
I just love these too!
Can’t wait to try this…fantastic
Your house is beautiful all decorated for Christmas 🎄 😍 I love watching Christmas videos in July to give myself hope that the Summer heat will end when it's close to Christmas 😊❤
Can't wait to try these.
Yum. You are amazing
Peppermint 😮Ooo my weakness. I was just searching these cookies up last night, and then there's this! Thanks for sharing!
My sister and I made these today they turned out great. A little hard getting them off the fork lol but we did it!! Also made your buckeye balls they turned out awesome! and we made your chocolate covered cherries unfortunately our Walmart didn’t have the cherries with stems so we used toothpicks lol. Put them in refrigerator for overnight and going to do the chocolate tomorrow. I’ve been busy on your channel lol.
Thank you!!!
Sounds so good!
@@CollardValleyCooks❤
These look really, really good!
I also enjoy orange or raspberry creams. This recipe would work for those!
Thank you for this recipe.
Great video on mints thank u for sharing love them 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️👍🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
They look delicious! Love Peppermint Patties! ❤
I love these so much!
Hi Tammy! Peppermint patties are one of my personal faves but I've never tried making them. That will change thus week after a trip to the grocery store! Thanks a bunch for sharing your recipe and for another video!
Thank you for sharing your delicious recipe, will make them definitely... A Merry Christmas 🤶 to you and your family.
I made butter mints for my daughter's wedding, lots of work but so worth it.❤
I made sweet potato casserole one time, it never a glass dish, took it out of the oven, and sat it on a hot eye!! It EXPLODED, and I had to start all over!! I had no more sweet potatoes, so, had to use canned, and, it wasn’t as good, lol…
Those look delicious I may have to try and make them for Christmas ❤
This is also the memory I think of the most of my Mom also....making candy at 🎄🎅☃Christmas. When I make mine, I make sure the coating is a lot thinner, then I lay them on a small holed wire rack so then I don't have to trim, and they are evenly coated. Aren't they just the best? I have been making these since i was a kid. Have a Happy Holiday.
Richard
🎄
Woah, this is deliciously Dangerous!!! As a kid, I used to go with family to the movies (even if I didn't like the film!) just so I was allowed to purchase a box of Junior Mints - my favorite addiction (because I love the peppermint center AND the CHOCOLATE),
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I love mints too
❤Happy Holidays I just love your channel I have tried a few of your recipes and I just love them😊
Hello Tammy!
Those looked so yummy! Like yours, my Mama loved to make candy. She would stay her Christmas baking 3 weeks before Christmas, and her home would smell like a bakery for a month! Thank you for sharing your favs of your Mama. I know, like me, you miss her very much. I pray you, Chris and the girls, have a very blessed and Merry Christmas! Love ya!
🙏💛💛🙏
Going to try make your cookies this week merry christmas
Ive been making peppermint patties for years. We use peppermint oil and no milk. Also we dip in bakers unsweeten chocolate. Just another way of good cooking.😊
Chocolate chips have stabilizers, that's why shortening is needed. Melting chocolate with a high cocoa butter content is best. I also prefer oil instead of extract. Extract is so, exract-y and off putting if you use too much.
So many ways to make any recipe.
❤
Peppermint patties is a family family. They are delicious!
My whole family loves peppermint patties, do you have your recipe on your site for the buttermints by chance?
It is in the description
Thank you for the video and recipe! They look delicious! I've got to make some of these and share them with my family and friends. Also, that Rudolph and Santa top is so cute on you! May I ask where you got it?
Thank you again! Take care and be safe! 😊💖🙏
I am not sure where I got it
I have made mints before and as a shortcut I use a cookie scoop to put on pan and then used a flat bottom glass to press mint to desired thickness. Of course you dip bottom of glass in the sugar.
i want to try these. do you use the peppermint flavoring or extract?
Extract
😋
I like that mixer. If you dont mind, where did you get it
collardvalleycooks.com
Looks better than store bought.
The candy looks delicious, Tammy you make all your recipes look so easy to make. ❤💚🤍🍬🍬🍬
You could help get it off the fork with a toothpick or a wood skewer
You did so good without a camera man. Looks delicious ❤
I've never seen or heard of 'Butter Extract'. is it easy to find in the grocery stores?
Yes
I like your videos. And they’re easy.
What kind of mixer do you use?
Bosch it is on collardvalleycooks.com
What is that mixing appliance?
I would like to know, too.
I did the research. It’s a Bosch Universal Plus stand mixer.
One of my favorite candies along with those cordial cherries you made!
YUUUUMMMMM ❤❤
What in the Bosch kind of mixer is that?
My thoughts exactly! Never seen a Bosch mixer like that before.
@@le_th_ yes and now I am figuring out everything I can make in it as well as when I add ingredients they don't go down the side of the bowl!
Once again that Tammy wiggle let's me know they are the best.😊
LOVE
Yes, please!
That's an interesting mixer. I've never seen one like that
It’s a Bosch. I have had one for years. I love it. Nothing better for making bread too.
I am so happy you made these! I'm going to make these for the 1st time this year. It was so helpful to see how you roll them out and dip them! Always enjoy your recipes and videos. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 to you and your family!
Tammy some people scrape the fork on the side of the bowl while taking the chocolate covered candy out before placing candy on the paper. So not so much chocolate left on the paper. Only way I can explain. Hope you like this.
Would it be possible to use butter instead of shortening in the melted chocolate?
No it would harden I believe
Those look delicious. If you were going to mold them, would you do that and chill and then dip?
Yes
My favorite. Yummy 😋 yummy
Looks delicious. 23:57
I really enjoyed this video! Tammi you look so nice in your Christmas theme outfit and your house looks very festive for the Christmas season! Thank you for the recipe!
I have been looking for an old fashioned butter mint that uses a mold and not the ones that get hard. Is that the recipe that your mom made? If so could you share the recipe or make a CZcams video of it? I would love to watch it. I enjoy watching you on CZcams 💕
Hey, Ms. Tammy. 👋 I just finished watching the replay of your live broadcast that you did here on your Collard Valley Cooks CZcams channel from 5 hours ago. This Peppermint Patties recipe looks so delicious. 😋
Oooo i love thin mints. I'll be making these thank you for recipe. One thing i do differently to thin my chocolate is parafin instead of shortening. It also give chocolate a nice shine when setup.
I just Tammy she's a Legend the reason I make this Best Food ⚘️💜🫶
I uave a question does anyone have ttouble with their patties stretching out when dipping them in the chocolate?
Hi Tammy!! You’re looking fantastic!! Hope you’re feeling better!! Love your channel!! Happy holidays to you, Chris and your family!!😍😍😍🙏🙏🙏🎄🎄🎄
Hello Tammy when I was growing up and was in the kitchen with my grammy and mama and when they would spill a little bit they would say a little extra won't hurt anyone..lol these look good. Merry Christmas from my house to yours..❤🙏
Yummy 😋
this is one of my weaknesses. thank you Tammy.
Watching on replay. Looks so good. One of my favorite candies
YOU LOOK SO BEAUTIFUL TODAY!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!❤
Hey y'all ❤❤❤ love these
I bet it smells heavenly and oh so yummy. Blessings 🙏❤️
Looks good Tammy. Thanks for the video.
YUM 😋
How do you keep them from melting while eating them? This recipe seems better than the one I used last year.
I will try to make these they sound delicious 😋😋 i love peppermint patties
My favorite ever!!
Thank You from North Carolina
Yum! I always freeze mine before dipping. Makes it so much easier.
Hi Tammy these looks great but I don't like mint all that much. What would you say the most popular homemade Christmas candy is over in America?
Good question! I am not sure!
The most popular store bought candies are Snickers followed by Reese's PB cups.
Homemade? Chocolate/PB balls, divinity and Martha Washington balls just to name a few.
It varies state to state.
PB and chocolate, salty/sweet and chocolate/mint are very popular combos.
Hello from Alabama ,Tammy these look so yummy 😊
Oh my. I bet these are super delicious. Tammy, I love the nativity scene over the stove and angels on your frig. 😊
Tammy I'm new to your channel and I am enjoying watching you . What kind of mixer are you using please. Thank you
Same
Bosch it is on collardvalleycooks.com
nifty mixer Tammy..what kind is it? you know if you have one of those little chocolate fountains it can go a long way to coating these with minimal chocolate loss.
Bosch it is on collardvalleycooks.com
@@CollardValleyCooks - ok thanks!
Cooking mama 💓
I thought peppermint patties were covered in dark chocolate.
You can use dark chocolate.
Dark chocolate is my very favorite so I'd use that for dipping.
Can the chocolate which you trim from the patties be reused?
Yes
Yes
Loved the Video Can you show us your Mom's Butter Mint Recipe?
What is the name of the strring machine your using????
Bosch.. It's on her website in Appliances section
My mother used to make the same type of mints!
I would totally make your chocolate covered cherries, but not these. Too much trouble. Lol
Thank You ,Tammy . For The Peppermint Candy Recipe . The Lord Bless You And Chris .✝️
Three pounds of powdered sugar??? What a sugar rush. I can tell that you and Chris are each other's rock when you go solo. After almost 50 years in retail, I can spot the couples that should have given it up years ago. Chris won't say this on air, but he knows he married up.
I can't wait to try this recipe, I need a whole day on my hand, and I think I'll cut the recipe in half. Tammy, thank you so much for sharing this 👍😋❤
So much fun Tammy! Tonya ❤
