- I love carving Gnomes. This type of carving, on a diagonal cut 1.5x1.5 block has so many variations that can be done. But this gnome, is probably my favorite. Give it a try, and definitely make a few diagonal cut blocks, because we'll use them again soon!
Please share the video with anyone you can. I'm on a mission to spread woodcarving as a hobby as far as possible.

I love this guy. What wood are you using for the carving?
@@dawnspruill1914 It's basswood. I really should have said that in the video.
Thanks!
Love the painting tips.Do you ever sand your carvings?
Thanks! Nope, I never sand the carvings. Just the knives and scrub them in the sink after. I find the washing with a bristled brush like a toothbrush just lays all those littles fuzzies that basswood can get right back down. Plus it cleans up any dirty marks from my carving mat or hands that were on the carving.
Love the video, great artistry! I saw some of your work on your Etsy page and I was wondering how do you add the cigar/cigarette to the mouth? Do you drill a hole and then use wood glue to add one after or is there a better method? Would love to see a short video on it but was just wondering. Cheers!
@BaconEater9045 I try to carve the lip in a bit of a curve if I'm going to put a cigar or pipe in their mouth. Create a spot for a home by carving the lips around the drill it out and glue it in.
@@JohnnyTheLayton Ah that makes sense! Thank you for clarifying, I appreciate it :)
@@BaconEater9045 glad to help!
Background music makes it difficult to hear you speaking is only criticism. Well done on everything else
@douggreene340 I worried about that when I watched the video after upload. I'll keep it lower going forward.
Thanks for the comment, sincerely. I want each video to keep being better than the one prior.
