  • Assembly and painting tutorial of the 1/6 M2 .50 cal. HMG by Dragon
    The M2 machine gun or Browning.50 caliber machine gun (informally, " Ma Deuce ") is a heavy machine gun that was designed towards the end of World War I by John Browning. Its design is similar to Browning's earlier M1919 Browning machine gun, which was chambered for the.30-06 cartridge.

    Its a great kit. Only regret is not buying two when it was available. Nice job with the kit, but it looks like its made with plastic. One trick I use to break this illusion is with a clear coat. Usually I will coat with a clear gloss, then weather a little with oils. Once that is good and dry, I'll spray on a flat clear coat. The build up of clear coats breaks the plastic sheen, among other things. You need a little wear, too, at this scale. I've never seen a Ma Duce that looks new as this.

      Thanks for your comments 🙂. For the base coat I mixed Tamiya LP1 black at 70% , Mr Color 116 Black Gray at 25%, Mr Color 201 Fine Silver at 5% and then for color variations I added Mr Color 41 Red Brown at about 5% to the base color. And the same silver for dry brushing. These mixing ratios are rough estimates. Just need to vary the main parts so it doesn't look like all one color.

    The mixture of paint you made, did you dilute them?

    • @sierrahobbys1883
      @sierrahobbys1883  Před 2 lety

      Yes ,I thinned them down with thinners.

      @@sierrahobbys1883 OK and how did you proceed to dilute the mixture please?

      @@azehjn1593 Hi, I used lacquer thinners and diluted the paint until I achieved a milk consistency. I don't have exact measurements, I just go by instinct. Sometimes I don't get it right. Mix the colors for the base coat first then thin it down.You want to vary the colors over the model,for example, I painted the vented barrel slightly different to the main barrel and the tripod slightly different. Hope this helps.
