The roughness and texture adds to the quality of the overall style and it makes it so much more beautiful than realism
We are impressionist/
God, my exact words.
Yeah, realism works are Indeed beatifull, but impressionism is just gorgeous
That's the point
Yes! That is very true!
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly lost my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me
I really appreciate these types of videos. It’s relaxing and I get to see how the major shapes and strokes slowly build up into a masterpiece.
Glad you like them!
I like how rough the start is
Man! She looks so real!!!
you got the nose right at the end! and thanks for including your reference photo so we could follow along. great video
Barry Ryan nice comment
Like RIGHT at the end 😂 I was waiting for it!
I love to watch great artists at work, and you, sir, are the real deal.
When I started watching it, I never thought for a minute it would turn out so good
Thanks for watching!!!
So you think it’s ugly
@@dinosharttt absolutely not
Magnificent walkthough - and result
It is a stunning sketch. Seemed impossible when the sketch with started with bold stokes. But it got all the details in due course. Wonderfully done.

very nice work pencil scfch
Perfekt!!!!!!
Brilliant!
Beautiful! Thank you! I LOVED watching this!
Honestly I've been working away through Andrew Loomis's books trying to reacquire lost portrait skills. Right now I can't draw a portrait for toffee. I can produce a fairly decent sketch of any animal so long as I have a reference. Portraits are just damned elusive!
Beautiful work and an inspiration to keep going!
Magic
i second guessed every move but then turns out right
Absolutely amazing!
Sculpture of light and shadow. Thank you to teach us
I just love how he can just plonk those heavy darks unapologetically and create a stunning portrait. Something I'll need to improve on greatly.
Very impressive! I love this sort of rendering, with no millimeter accuracy and yet complety faithful to the original ! It gives a very expressive and contemporary look to the portrait, that's exactly how I would like to draw ! Still stuck with the grid pattern for the moment... picking techniques here and there to help me move away from it... May I ask you how much practice you needed to reach this result? And do you work from a picture the same size as your drawing or not necessarily? I mean I find it extremely hard to work from a small picture and keep the exact proportions when drawing a larger format. That's always a big challenge for me even with a grid pattern while you don't seem to be disturbed by this ! °.°
What I believe is that practicing everyday is the best way to upgrade, no matter how long total hours spent.
Life size is the best but hard to have have it from photo and live model due to the distance.
Thank you for your answer !
From what initially appears to be approaching chaos, to a good likeness within 10 minutes. Then on upward to the beauty of the subject, expressed in a very ''painterly'' manor. All this despite the fact her lips are parted in the photo....a truly brilliant performance!
Thanks for watching and your comment about the process, too!
You're very welcome. Fascinating technique!
Feeling great to watch a great artistic work live.
JUST BEAUTIFUL ART WORK!!!
great artist ever and forever.....awesome strokes my friend
at 10:52 it's already perfect for me. there's something appealling on that roughness and smudges of the portait. It gives off that incompleteness vibes that makes a person curios about what it looks like if you actually decide to finished it.
My favorite stage is 5-10 minute as well.
Uauuuu!! Parabéns!
É um dom muito lindo!
👏👏👏👏
Amazing, so Talented !
This is the kind of thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word "art". This is the real thing. You have captured her essence and it is spectacular. Very nicely done.
So many amazing shading techniques all coming together to make a beautiful portrait. Where do you learn thease techniques?
What kind of charcoal stick do you use for the beginning of the video when you're doing proportions and gesture? I think it's willow but it looks pretty large to be a willow stick!
Thick willow
This is GOLD! Thanks for sharing
Lindo trabalho. isso mostra o quanto o ser humano é talentoso.
Maravilhoso trabalho !!!
Even those strokes at the first minutes were amazing😳
🙌🏼😊Truly GIFTED. This has started me, to believe in my self. To capture art as I see it. Thank you 🤗
Ammmmazing wow

The Zin Master!
I used a different method on my sketch, I use ink pens, as opposed to pencils or charcoal, but I think I achieved a similar result LOL
One question:do you use fixative after the work?
It is like cutting wood into sculpture.. So beautiful ❤
Amazingly awesome!!!
Que belo trabalho artístico!
Saudações de Belo Horizonte MG Brasil.

this makes me think much more of painting than drawing, awesome technique!
There is a link to oil strokes. Thanks.
omg. i love this!.
I love how you do your style like it doesn't matter how rough the sketch was. I just want to say you fully got my attention right here and thanks for burning up my inspiration again:) btw I s my first time seeing you working and im so proud already.
Amaziiiiiiiiiing WOW
Superb shading sir👏👏
So beautiful!
halo master, what charcoal and paper do you use?
Strathmore 400 drawing medium. You can find each work's medium at the description of each video:)
Aprecio muito este tipo de arte que é o Desenho que se parece realmente com um desenho e não se parece com uma foto ,parabéns !!!@@
That's Amazing
Isso é mágica. Maravilhoso, parabéns!!!!
Really cool to have the reference photo and just watch the magic happen ❤❤
Espectacularmente hermoso tu trabajo. Felicitaciones. Admirable tu arte. Saludos desde Rep. Argentina!!!
thank-you for demonstration..
Beautiful work!!
JadenMoneyMusic nice for comment
Great video, but then they spoil it by speeding up the fine detail application at the end, and fading it to black before the other eye was finished, and didn't give us even five seconds to contemplate the final result. Madness!

There's a pauze button and probably an Instagram page or website as well as exhibitions where you can see the work in real life Warren. Greetings.
@@driesketels This video is about the Process I presume, otherwise what's the point, just post the final picture then 😄
Warren, absolutely agree with you !
slow down the video bro
Lovely portrait 👍 Beautiful music 👍 Awesome shadow technique 💕💕💕 Stay connected!
Thanks for watching!!!
Wonderful work... congrats!
Great video. Thank you for share.
Hey bro! This is awesome! Just wanna ask. What kind of tool are you using (the white pencil thinging?) made me thought of buying one for my next portrait. Thanks man! :)
It's called AKA 'stumping tool'. You can see all tools I use at www.zinlim.com/qa
Zin Lim thanks a lot!!! And i am so sorry.... My apologies. I thought you were a guy. :( didnt check your profile.
Gorgeously, rendered.
Thanks for watching!!!
i know this video was made long ago, but what did you use at the very last part of the video? it looked similar to a brush.
The white one? It's stump made with paper.
Its amazing! I like your work.
I envy the way your eyes see things!
Wow! You are really good. What started out as a bunch of lines all over turned into that. Even got in that tiny hair line part😁
Thank you:)
Stunning portrait Mr Lim. What paper do you work on?
Strathmoore 400 series
This is really beautiful.
Awsome work! Do you have the link of the music?? Its so serene too!
Coś wspaniałego, chciałbym dojść do takiego mistrzostwa, ale pòki co nawet nie pròbuję
i unknowingly tilted my head to the left this whole time
Hahaha😂Thanks.
@ Choo Choo train:
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
very good joke ...
You are in fact very complementary then: she tilted hers to the right ! (photo = mirror image)
😎 ?
so fabulous sir! Thank you so much for sharing your skill and being gracious enough to teach those of us who cannot afford expensive tuition. Please keep bringing us more :)
Thanks for watching.
Hi thank you very much for sharing your wonderful piece, i just want to ask can we use canvas for charcoal sticks?
It's better to use some elle-erre or bristol piece of paper...
possible for simple sketch.
Skills on its seventh Sky
You are like not drawing but making statue.....🖤💜♥️
that calming music is awesome as well
You always have to 'carve' the drawing in order to make it realistic..
Like woodcut

Lovely work. Enjoyed seeing how you set up the initial planes.
Glad you enjoyed it
What paper do you use for charcoal? Can you recommend me sketchbook with that papers.
As if it was sculpted on the paper! Well done.
Good metaphor...
i can't buy a charcoal, so i make myself charcoal ... what your opinion bout this? thanks.
As far as I know, wood should be burned in vacuum to be a product, firm charcoal sticks.
But why not, we can experiment and could find a possibility.
It is as much as charcoal pencil
So creative. Congrats
I often make my own, in a fireplace or over gas-flame, fun to experiment and offers more of a variety of properties than any commercial art store could offer - go for it!
Use willow, remove the bark and avoid knots. Take branches at least two years old. Pieces about as thick as your thumb (they shrink during charring). Put in a tin can with a lid that fits tightly, but be sure to punch a hole in the lid. Put tin can in fire, gasses will escape through the hole, and catch fire. That stops after about half an hour. Removd from fire and IMPORTANT don't open before well cooled off. It is easy, and I compared it with store bought willow/vine charcoal, and don't notice any difference.
Incrível 👏👏👏
I drew one and it looked like jesus😂
Same
Ye he returned on perfect paper!
I had the same problem! Haha
@Martin Ainsworth good point- *of what I think Jesus might have looked like*
Wew hahahahhaha
Fabulous.. amaizing
Awesome! Gotta dig my harcoal out!
Is this a portrait of Jessica Alba ? Looks really cool how you go from something so rough and sketchy at the beginning and turn it into this. I would have a hard time moving my hand that fast without losing control of things. Amazing.
Doing it everyday, you will get the rhythm. just like guitar.
Great!! Amazing lesson! Tyyyy!
wow! lovely charcoal work
Você desenha maravilhosamente bem
Great man Mashallah your work so 💙
Sir did you use smooth or textured and what GSM paper?
I feel I should start looking what my talent is

What paper did you use ? Thank you
Strathmore drawing 300 medium
....amazing. my passion was in charcoal and i was searching in graphite. Thanks for sharing.
I want to know how to fix the charcoal art after finishing to avoid smudging.
Fixative.
I was holding my breath 'coz I thought he wont fix the shadow shape on the lower right side :-P..but at the very end it was amazing
Haha Thanks for waiting:)
Which side of the paper you draw soft/rough side?
Don't get the no-likeness comments below - this is a fantastic portrait in charcoal. The image and the medium working superbly together under the artist's guidance. Love it!
Quick question - the music? (Sorry if you have already answered below - l'm a bit stupid and a bit lazy!😉)
This music reminds me of the untittled track in the Made In Heaven Queen album
Muito bom, técnica diferenciada.
Great work of art 👌🎨
So beautiful... 😍 very realistis...
Lovely sketch!
