    Your balcony looks so much better since you put up the screen between your balcony and your neighbor's.

    If you didn’t tell that you were on vacation I would never guessed, everything looks nice and vibrant. I like the new hydrangea in that pot and the new privacy screen, very cozy.

    It's lovely to see your garden did so well while you were on vacation.👍I use a lot of organic material in my containers and it does help with moisture retention. We have had over 33 days of 100 and 100+ temp...very little rain...and my containers are doing well at hold the moisture. Most containers I don't have to water daily.
    That's cool how you are training coleuses into trees...I just might have to try that and the bayleaf tree.👍
    Your garden is so enchanting! 😃
    Sweet idea you have for planting edibles throughout the area where you sit. Kale and other greens should do okay...you can always make a decorative windbreaker when they get tall.🙂
    I use BT to fight cabbage caterpillars because I mostly grow food for my family. Some plants I screen from the cabbage butterfly and vine borer moth by caging them in tulle.🙂
    Lovely tour...as usual.🙂 Continued happy gardening!💕

      Hi! I'm so sorry for you guys! Phew.. 33 days of heat that sounds intense! But that's wonderful that your garden is doing well despite the heat! We are currently in the high 80s but the heatwave is coming back next week unfortunately...Thanks for your suggestions, I appreciate! And yes you're right about BT of course, it is for sure helpful when you have a lot of plants that are affected especially food crops. Wishing you a nice weekend 😊

    As always your balcony is the most lush and pretty!! What impressed me is that you dont use anything for plagues, what would you fight trips? They are the most annoying insects!!! My basils and parsley all leaves are being eaten😪I havent use nothing, wherever I see them, kill with my fingers 😊😊

      Thank you for your kind comment my friend. I'm all about preventing problems by growing plants suitable for my conditions and keeping them healthy. Stressed plants attract pests like magnets. But if things get out of control occasionally, I use biological methods, which is introducing natural predator. I've never had thrips on my balcony, but heavy infestations outside they can be a real nightmare! For small infestations predatory mites or nematodes can be used but for larger infestations you may need to use pesticides. But since you have thrips on herbs I wouldn't recommend that, maybe buying or sowing a couple of new herbs would be the simplest solution ☺️

    Brilliant video D and so timely! Do you remember my 12 geraniums?😁 They are thriving but I also have caterpillars!!!!!! I check for them daily as they devoured 1 of my plants. I rescued it from total obliteration but it's much smaller now! Im afraid I use the spray. Looking forward to autumn on tour balcony videos😄 🍁

      Hi! I'm happy that you enjoyed it 😊! Oh that's so cool, do you plan on keeping them as perennials? My plants are old so I guess they are more resistant, but you could buy BT spray (bacillus thuringiensis) it's natural bacteria that will kill caterpillars (but it also kills butterfly and moth caterpillars so if you have a butterfly friendly garden this is not a good idea). I'm also looking forward to Autumn 🥰🍂!

    I'm a veggie balcony gardener and I'd wanted to ask how large the pot is that your zucchinis are in? I've thought about growing zucchini but I can only offer a rather small space for the plant

    • @17m2garden
      @17m2garden  Před rokem

      It's a Zucchini called 'Bush Baby' and it's a dwarf cultivar, so it's perfect for smaller containers. Tbh I just chose the two empty pots I had left. The bigger one is diameter 35cm x height 30 cm (19L) the other one is a bit smaller.
