Amazing video, very inspiring! My main goal for this 2024 is stop bying new art suplies and use all ones that I have, donate ou sell the materials what I doesn't like.
I have this problem too, but it's so addicting 😅
Yeesh, I have had this problem since restarting on my art journey. Rather than spend time sketching or coloring, I spent tons of cash on various art supplies. A huge regret right now, but I’ll have to gain the motivation of using all of them to become a better artist.
I have a similar goal! I see now that my impulse shopping of art supplies is related to avoidance of actually sitting down to sketch or paint, which is a form of anxiety about facing the blank page. I want to turn my anxiety around by seeing what I can do with what I already have.
Love that! Having tons of supplies should feel very liberating-you can experiment to your heart’s content! 🙌😀
I like that you refer to us as artists.
Moving mid-year and have to purge. lol. It’s a long distance move back to my hometown and a new home. My brain is working overtime. I want a dynamite colorful, organized art room. I’m looking for ideas? Thanks for the motivating speech. I’m a beginner for life. But that’s ok. Thanks to artist like you i am able to take your classes.
You got this! 🙌 Happy New Year!
There are sketch Saturdays at my local museum that I am a member of..need to get on that ☝🏽🙏🏽🙋🏻♀️👍🏽
Perfect! 🙌
I've been sharing this with many of my art friends. We are enjoying discussing our goals.
What a cute puppy you have there 😍😍😍
Thank you for this video! Your kind, warm and encouraging approach is what I need to counteract the internal critic and get on with making art. I am committing to writing my goals and making a vision board for 2024.
Wonderful! 💪
Wow, I am the most cynical person ever and I would NEVER choose Joy as my year long goal (barf) --- BUT, for some reason, I found this video encouraging, inspiring, thoughtful, reassuring, and calming. I might even try the suggestions and I can't believe I said that. You are clearly a very talented CZcamsr! You have a terrific way of explaining things in a practical way. I have learned so much from your videos on equipment and painting techniques--especially the ones on various easels and plein air painting. Thanks so much and I sincerely hope you have a great year of Joy!
Why wouldn't you pick joy. that's besides cynical just very depressign
@@demi3115 It just sounds corny to me. It's fine--I know how to be happy and I am, just a little dark.
What a nice comment, thank you! Happy new year to you!
So many great ideas! My main goal this year is to start a daily sketchbook habit.
Fantastic suggestions. Happy new year 🎉 health, wealth and happiness .
Thanks so much! One of my goals will be to share more of my art with the world. . oh I feel nervous typing that, but excited haha ☺
You can do it! 🙌
As usual Emily your wisdom in art and life doesn't disappoint! I was so cheered (and refocused!) by this. The holidays this year have been difficult, so what a much needed joy to see this video pop up. Now I have something positive to focus on for 2024.
I have enjoyed my Watercolor Mastery membership immensely, but admittedly not as consistently as I should have. So, right away I need to make consistency a priority. I did set a self-challenge in 2023, and that was to overcome my fear of portraits, and I did that by plunging into a 30-Day portrait-painting challenge! So I did have that win. Thank you so much for all you give to us as a community! We love you and Happy New Year!
Thank you for sharing this! 💕🙌
Great ideas.
oh I needed that one !
thank you for sharing .
have a Joyfull 2024 Emily .
Happy new year! 🎊
Wonderful inspiring suggestions - thank you!
So glad!
Thank you ❤
Emily. Thank you for your CZcams videos of Christmas watercolor tutorials, your CZcams videos related to watercolor and art and encouragements, especially during a time of year that can be very challenging.
Your energy and enthusiasm are so very meaningful.
Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Great idea! I will commit to following your lead with goals!
Excellent video, I listed all of my arty achievements from 2023 and I am proud of my CZcams channel. Thank you 🙏 Wishing you a happy new year 🥳

Fantastic Emily. Just what I needed ❤
LOVE THIS!! 😍🎉Thank you so much, Emily!!❤️
My pleasure!
Emily, I’m enjoying your daily tutorials so much. One of my 2024 goals is to do several of your longer projects. Thank you for offering all your wonderful content. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024!!!
Happy New year to you, too! ❤️
This is awesome!!! Just typed up the notes.
What a wonderful video….exactly where my thoughts were today…..how to move forward into 2024! Thanks for the inspiration!
Wahoo! Cheers! 🙌❤️
Loved this video with all your wonderful and encouraging ideas. I picked Joy even before you told us that was your word. We need constant joy in our life.
Wonderful!
Thanks. I needed that! I already feel a breath of fresh air and an energy boost! So inspirational! Thank you.😊
So glad!
This was quite helpful. Thank you very much!
Thank you, I really needed this, it’s such an encouraging and inspiring video! Hope you have a wonderful new year!
Thank you! You too!
Thank you! I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Watercolor Mastery membership. I appreciate your generosity in teaching!
You are so welcome!
I love this. Thank you. I really want to try urban street painting but it feels intimidating - so I'll do the loose painting technique and let it be messy just so I actually start.
Thank you very much! I really needed to hear this today to prepare myself for 2024. I have lots of goals in my head, but I love your approach to writing them down. I will definitely do this!
You are so welcome!
Thanks for the joyfully delivered guidance and inspiration. I just used WordArt and Pixabay to create a dream board for my desktop image, thanks to you. I even have an image of you, beside a calendar to challenge myself to paint daily. Thanks a million for your work, Emily! It matters so much to so many!
That’s so great! Way to go after your goals and dreams!
Best ideas ever!!!! now to execute LOL Thank you soooo much Emily this was a real kick start for me. All the best for 2024
Happy new year!!
Excellent video!!! Just started the first prompt: 10 art things in '23 I'm proud of: I listed several things I feel I've learned along with some projects I accomplished. List is at 13. Might find more if I keep trying 😊 Thank you again, Emily! Your art is awesome!!
Feels good to celebrate the wins, right?
@@EmilyOlsonArt yes, thank you for the nudge in the right direction 😊
so many fantastic tips, amazing video 😊😊
Glad you think so!
Some of these suggesting are things that I really need to do. I have done very little painting this past year do to other commitments. But this next year is going to be time for me. My number one goal will be to paint at least 2-3 times every week, and to also share what I paint. I usually don't do that because I tend to compare my work to others (bad habit). Have a Happy New Year and I look forward to competing more of the watercolor mastery lessons. Thank you.
GREAT goals! 🙌
Hi Emily. I have a request. When you start your watercolor pour will you please post a video of you doing it with instructions? Thank you
Thanks, It was an inspiring video.
Glad to hear that!
This was beautiful and helpful. I'm a novice, but one of my art goals is to learn to paint portraits. My word is Experience. And too add an extra angle here, the Tarot card of the year is Strength. Good luck.
Thank you for sharing that! 😃❤️
I keep looking for the perfect planner for an artist. I may take your ideas and create my own. Thank you for your channel and sharing your talents. Btw, #8 is my #1. Lol I can barely walk into my studio.
Thanks so much for stopping by my channel and for the nice comment!
finding an art group in the area is a good idea, might have to figure out how to start my own group since the ones that I know about are either twice my age backwards and forwards lol, no one right in the middle that I know of lol
If the older crowd is experienced professionals, I’d get in with them! 🙌
Sadly I don't get along with the ones I've talked too, art snobs that tend to talk crap about people not in the group and I can't stand that. Took a few classes that various members also took, too much negativety for me 🙁
İ feel myself very lucky that i watched all your videos. And i feel that i learned a lot from you. Thanks… the first day of this year i bought 10 holbein watercolor tubes to make my own palette inspired by you and my experiences. I bought arches paper… and now i am missing a brush. But i couldn’t afford the black velvet silver brush. Can you recommend me a more affordable one. I have one pure squarel brush and a couple of synthetic. But i am struggling. This mount its my birthday an maybe i can buy a present to my self. It will be very meaningful to me if you recommend me brushes… i am from Turkey and because of the exchange rates and custom fees the brushes are more expensive… i am gratefull… happy new year.
Yes Emily! #7 is something I’ve asked you to help with before. How to get my artwork to a digital form so I can print cards, etc. Please help!
This is definitely in the queue! 🙂
If I can;t be as good as Joseph Zbucvic I quit.
I love watching his videos and his painting style. ❤
