At 23 years of age, Tia-Clair Toomey (Tia) is quite the accomplished athlete. Hailing from the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia, Tia burst on the CrossFit Games scene earning the title of 2nd Fittest Woman on Earth in both 2015 and 2016. She also quickly established herself as one of Australia's best Olympic Weightlifters, earning the country's only female weightlifting spot to the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. This also makes her the only athlete to compete in both the CrossFit Games and the Olympics in the same year. She currently resides in Gladstone, Queensland, Australia where she owns and runs CrossFit Gladstone alongside her coach and fiancé, Shane Orr. We caught up recently at Chris Hinshaw's annual training camp in Cookeville, TN to discuss her background and the whirlwind that has been the past few years of her life. - Sport
One word to describe Tia is Amazing 👏
Tia is such an excellent human
Tia is so inspiring
Love how candid and carefree the interview is!!
I love her shes the best
sensational yarn Tia and Julie. a sneak peak into the life of an incredible athlete. l absolutely love your candor and humbleness. Behind the amazimg easy going approach you have is obviously a fiercely competitive and disciplined champion. Definitely cheering loud for you at regionals and hoping you can take it a step further and push the ice queens aside in 2017...but you got to love those girls tuffness too hey. All the best.
Great episode! You gained a subscriber. Tia's my favorite Crossfit athlete. So fun and genuine. Great that you just let things roll!
Yeah Tia!
Julie, I love your podcasts, I listen to them all day while I'm at work! im gradually working my way through all of them, keep up the good work!!
It would be nice to have Kara Webb on the show at some stage.
Tia is such an interesting athlete. I'd say she's by far the most physically capable female at the games, but her mental approach is so much less refined than, say, Katrin's. I think that's holding her back quite a bit. But she has so much potential, still. As much as I'd love Katrin and Tia to repeat as 1-2 again, Tia in my mind has the best chances to win it.
sara sigmundsdottir ftw!
Prophetic.
Thanks I tried (:
Great Podcast Julie!
who gave her the strength training program? can we look at it?
So how long has Tia been doing crossfit?
Julie, love your videos, but your intros are so long!
yer, those intros feel like they go forever. good videos tho.
Tia talks sooooooo much omg lol she's awesome though
