"Long arrows are in fashion" is one of my favorite lines from any movie.
Excited to see the progress
I love watching an army built from scratch with a strong theme.
Thanks! I am doing fairly well with painting, I got fair bit of my infantry almost done!
Age of Empires 2 soundtrack, class :)
the best soundtrack
looking forward to seeing how they turn out
Keep us updated! I’ve been keen to start an Estalian army too. I love that it’s unofficial and you have to get creative and kitbash something that is uniquely yours. I’ve also built half a dozen of Warlords conquistadors. Such amazing models and great value.
Thanks! Don't worry more videos will be coming!
Great choice of theme, and I must say your greatsword banner looks amazing! Love it!
lets go! Old world was always super interesting.
Crazy that you digged up a dogs of war box! Looking forward to this project
I look forward to seeing these guys painted up! I enjoyed the historical background behind your decisions.
Such an interesting theme! And listening to the different reasons and lore was really nice too - looking forward to see more!
Your great sword banner is sweet! I have this army as well, built almost entirely from Pirazzos Lost Legion, Galloper Guns, 4th/5th Ed. Hand gunners and swordsmen with morion helmets plus a lot of amazons as free company. I also mounted my knights on cold ones, my captain on a terradon and my steam tank on a stegadon!
Thank you so much! I use stamps and stickers for my banners, my previous video is about that. That sounds like such a cool army! Love the idea of steam tank stegadon!
Love the theme😮💨🤝🏻
Enjoyed to a great extend, cool seeing all those rare models, thank you!
Thanks. Glad to share them!
Let's hope wargame atlantic releases their conquistador cavalry set soon. I have my eye on that too.
Yeah they just announced armoured rennasaince cavalry as well
For that Lost Legion video I had to subscribe, I am looking forward for updates of this awesome army :)
Cheers :D
Thanks! Hopefully that will come before summers end!
One thing you might want to know is that Antediluvian Miniatures actually sells a metal model of Aguirre with some other conquistadors, so that'd probably fit really well in the army.
Also is your warrior priest supposed to be for Myrmidia? If you're repainting it, then the few pieces of art of Myrmidian Warrior Priests usually have robes be white with light blue trim or light blue with red, and usually incorporate a bird symbol.
Love the project so far!
Wow! Well thanks for letting me know about that model (I have to get that!).
I will repaint the priest of Myrmidia in that fashion! Thanks for letting me know!
I think that its really cool that you'll repaint older models. As your aesthetic and design choices change you're not afraid to update older stuff to match that. I'm definitely curious how you repaint them without it getting paint build-up. (i.e. stripping the paint off vs just painting over)
This army will be very different looking from my grimdark stuff. I will talk about repainting vs stripping off in the future for sure
@@RustedBrush Awesome! Looking forward to that vid!
That's a super cool project, looking forward watching more of it 😊👍
Thanks!
It is going to be a grand force when it is done.
thanks! I can't wait to show people!
@@RustedBrush maybe I will pull together an orc army and we can test them.
@@MonsterPainter ooh! I would love to face you!
The wizard @ 3:30 isn't Dogs of War, but actually the wizard Nicodemus from Mordheim!
It's a dogs of war Hired wizard. They used the same model for Nicodemus. So it's both
I was thinking the same thing using the WGA models! Can't wait to see them painted up next to the GW ones.
yeah that's the plan for next video to show a better look at the wga models
For my Estalian Empire army pikemen I purchased several packets of 100mm spears/pikes from North Star Military Figures, they actually work very well. Just trim them to your desired length.
Might I suggest looking at Grim-Forge miniatures. They do a great proxy Lost Legion Pike/crossbow in their Mercenary line of soldiers. Might be perfect to bulk out the unit.
Ooh, thank you for letting me know!
Can't wait to see your progress on this army!
It's a tasteful choice, really wish they'd bring them back for old world. Good luck!
Thanks!
Just a quible. I'd say the Lizardmen are more based on the Maya. The whole schtick of Lustria is that it is deep jungle. The Aztecs on the other hand, were (mostly) based in central Mexico which is a mountainous. Southwest of Mexico City is all Pine Forest
Thanks for the info! I should have realized that, and your 100% correct. I think I just said it to make it fit the narrative without double checking. In my head I always thought of the lizardmen to be more generically a mix of mayan and aztec culture.
@@RustedBrush I mean, the GW then may just have been going for a general Mesoamerican vibe, so I could be wrong.
Good stuff man! I love Werner Herzog, and Aguirre! Awesome ideas!
Thanks! The fitzcaraldo is another fantastic movie of his, the making of it was insane
@@RustedBrush He has a lot of solid work! But of course it's all about Nosferatu the Vampyre though... I'd say! That's a masterpiece! Both in German and English... Talk about incredible cinematography!
@@ValhallanFieldMarshalRobert A very good choice. I love the beginning shots of that film in particular.
@@RustedBrush The tomb shots from Mexico (I think it is)? That is such an off-putting, eerie and disturbing set of imagery and way to start the movie... It really like gets the viewers head primed and ready for it to not a just like a jump scare horror movie, but a horror movie where it's the characters, the acting, and the scenes that give the film it's horror... I dunno... Nosferatu has always been one of my all-time favs! It's super cool that you are a fan of that stuff too, as well as history... This was my first time discovering your channel and right away am subscribed and looking forward to more content!!
@@ValhallanFieldMarshalRobert Yes! I'm glad to know to someone else with similar interests! Thanks for the sub! Hopefully next video will be next week or week after that!
super excited to see how this comes out, as im currently using the wargames Atlantic conquistadors for pretty much the same thing XD
Wow those Rico's Republican Guard must be worth well in excess of £100!
Damn this must have been a pricey affair
It's year of collecting to be fair, but yeah lol it wasn't cheap
Great video! I just came back from Seville and saw amazing historical conquistador armor like the ones you're putting on your models, they look amazing. You mention a lot that you just need to "repaint" some of those already painted models... how the hell do you do that? I imagine its not as straight forward as just painting over it?
Thanks! Ooh Seville seems really nice! As for repainting, it depends on how thick the first paint job is, sometimes you can get away with just repainting it. I will probably put out some content on it
Very brave opening those ancient BNIB models! I couldn't do it XD.
Trust me it's not easy!
Aww man, I don't know If I would open the blisters and sealed box at all. LOL.
What would you do with it?
Aye❤
What’s the scale comparison from the Wargames Atlantic Conquistadors to the old world empire models that you have?
The Wargames, are a tad smaller I would say. I will go into that more in depth in the next video
Great video, one question, the wizard you named dogs of war one, is it a GW model? I have it in my empre army from years ago and cannot remember where it's from.
Thanks! So that model is a GW model. It was used as a mercenary wizard for the mercenary army. It's also used as the named character in mordheim called nicodemus. Hope that helps!
Pike and shotte from Warlord games
💞Wow🧡🤍🤍🤍🧡🤍🤍🤍🤍
If you got time to repaint all those mod's, can you do a few of mine too?
Haha, maybe one day
hmm, the positive fascination for the conquistadors is hmm how to say, a bit dodgy? Their tactics were... genocidal. That might be edgy and grimm, but also very off imo. Not that it cannot be done in a game, but its about the way its put out here.
I understand. I am in no way saying what the conquistadors did was a positive. People like Pizzaro were awful, and I don't want anyone thinking I like him. I hope I didn't offend, as that is not my goal.
Stfu Spain was conquered by Muslims, don’t hear you having a cry about that. I bet your one of those who think they are ‘white’
I hear alot of noice from players saying that The Empire is the worst faction.. BS, most of these players are unable to play using tactics, combined arms etc. All they can is frontally charge with their most expensive block of BS units..
Go for it! The Empire have style and is a very interesting faction in every way. Looks good, have great fluff and can be powerful with good tactics. Not playing them myself, I only play OGreen skins in ay game.. But I admire the Empire!
Your stuff looks great, I really like those 6th Ed Greatswords..
Thanks! I have to agree, I think you really need to utilize combined arms. I think it it will be tricky to get the hang of it, but I am here to play and army I love. I think I can get some wins in anyways
@@RustedBrush if you like the army and make this amazing-looking stuff into yours, I´m sure you will also be able to get the hang of it. A nice cvhallenge but also very rewarding.. :)
